What was your very first encounter against Odin like?

I wasn't even 50 yet, just unlocked that side exit in Gridania, so I took it to see where it would take me and there was Odin, so I announced it to my LS and we all died, many times. I was mostly raising. This wasn't too far from launch.

I was curious about the FATE icon on my mini-map, but when I saw the level, I stopped just outside it. Just as well, because I showed up just in time for Zantetsuken, and so was treated to a wonderful performance of synchronized death animations.

Here I am in TS, being new to the FC and getting to know everyone while being assigned to a Raid group when suddenly...

FC Mate: Hey, Odin's up. Come with, Renny!
Me: I have no idea what I'm in for.

-Few minutes of DESPERATELY keeping my distance and failing at it.-

FC Mate: That was awesome!
Me: I DON'T LIKE THIS AT ALL.

Odin spawns and I teleport in.
A FC member starts screaming PLEASE INVITE ME TO ODIN in shout - gets invited by a party.
I shout invite me to FC member - no reply.
Ran all over South Shroud in panic to find Odin.
Find Odin and see him for 1 second and he disappears.
Spend next minute trying to target him to hit him at least once.
Hopelessness hits.
I spend remaining time sobbing while futilely cycling enemies hoping Odin appears.

Most miserable FATE I've ever been in.
Never again.
Not a single fk will I give for Odin FATEs.

Beat him with a gold rating, really am I the only one? :P
Quickly assembled a party for it. I couldn't see him most of the fight and was just healing my team.

A 5 FPS Diashow, Trying to stay in range and place some Spells, but mostly, a very strange fight...

"Where is Odin"

"Why are there no other players around"

then I died prolly due to an invisible AOE

BTW my second, third, fourth and fifth experience was quite similiar.

And then SE made great changes to those FATES by redesigning the order of what is showing up with prioritiy

Since this it is either a 90000 dc festival for those who try or if it is not, I can see Odin from time to time but the FATE is a crazy lag feast, no matter if many or not that many people take part. All in all, Odin and Behemoth are a terrible experience and imo they should not be in the Game as FATES.

I think this pretty much sums up my first Odin encounter lol.

I was expecting this huge armor clad dude on a horse. I was just like wtf where is he?!? Then got owned and realized he was the size of other players. lol.

Odin? More like lag&wipe -fest.

No but seriously. It was East Shroud I think. It was raining upwards and people were rushing past me, someone was shouting "ODIN IS UP!" I grabbed myself a party to see what all this fuss was about. Upon arriving at the scene of lag and murder, I wondered if this was truly the mighty FATE people talked about. It had to be. People were flickering in and out. Odin was nowhere to be seen or targetable. My casts were interrupted and everyone lagged like crazy. Suddenly someone started to shout "LB USE LB" It was tough, but I think I got bronze.

After that I have had absolutely no interest in fighting Odin. Not one of the rewards are worth to endure that horrible lag.

Never again.
