Didn't blizzard re-designed a whole bunch of worlds in WOW in the last expansion? We are not asking to build a game from scratch here. They have the engine, a built game with tools and loads of textures that are already done... it would take much less time then you think to re-design these areas but for sure it is not a priority for now being that the gameplay is so bad.....

I'm just going to write this thread off as troll city. I agree lets change the zones around to LOOK more interesting while having NOTHING INTERESTING to do... /end sarcasm Devs need solid suggestions/opinions/thoughts about how to make the game better not how to make a pretty turd more interesting to look at...

edit: im sure the new dungeons and other new areas will be alot better from here on out.

World of Warcraft zones are roughly 1/10th the size of one FFXIV zone and the graphics aren't nearly as detailed. Blizzard was probably working on redoing Azeroth back in TBC, whereas Square just released XIV. We won't see any changes like this to current zones but they can certainly use the feedback for future zones provided the feedback is constructive. Another option would be to splice the current zones and redo sections of them into completely new zones. Since there's a huge abundance of unused land in the current zones this could be a very viable option. The world of Eorzea is very large right now, I'm not sure why they decided to make every zone so absolutely enormous.

The problem is that they would have to not only redesign a multi-zone area much larger than any zone in WoW, they have also have to continue completely revamping the stuff already in place.

These zones won't seem nearly as large once we get chocobos to ride. Maybe I should change that to *if*

Like other have said you wouldn't have to rebuild everything just small sections. The areas directly around Grid should be more open atleast. Also there should be more things in what is currently "Open Space" inside grid.

Not to sound like an XI bigot, but add windurst. Gridiania's music is boring and that kills the city for me, and I started there ; ; ;. Add mandy's there O_O just saying.

Person I love the black shroud and it's not that confusing. Take some time to learn how the place works.

Lol, let them work on game play, party play so on before working on areas. Good ideas though not bad.

To be honest, each city-state could do with a lot more ambience/landmarks.
