Newbie PvPers aren't gonna' be having fun down the line...

I'm not even sure how you think that's true.

You say those games aren't played anymore, and then you mention a game like RO which isn't very played anymore either. That doesn't really make sense.

If having tournaments is an indicator of being known for PvP, then the games I mentioned should be noted as well.

Look, in the end, a gear grind isn't going away. They exist to keep people playing the game. And they work. Look at GW2 if you want to see what happens when there's nothing to play towards.
It's NOT a big deal to have one, as long as people can still compete to some degree while grinding it out.
That's what's the issue here.

Nobody's gonna wanna come in and lose thousands of games having almost no chance of winning (there's not that much room in this game for outplaying, you'll just get rocked from gear/abilities) just to start living for more than 2 seconds.

I gave a suggestion for a simple fix for the currently unbalanced pvp doesn't mean I am not open to other ideas. You're arguing that the pvp system needs to change, I'm stating the same thing. Unless you are happy with what it is right now, what are you trying to debate over with me?

You said you wanted PvP to not have gear differences.
All I said was it's not happening, and that games have done just fine with having gear grinds/gear differentials (quite popular PvP games, in fact), and FF14 can be in that same boat, because it's really not that big of a deal.

I'm not sure if you guys realize this, but there is craftable pvp gear. This can assure that new pvpers will at least be competitve.

Any pvp system that offers people different stats becomes a joke, if your dps has more dmg than the other teams dps whats the point, what are you going to prove, may as well go play Fat Princess atleast its symetrical

When counterstrike (7.1-1.6) made all other fps look awful it became the fps people played to show their shooter skills for 10 years, when starcraft made all other rts look simplistic it became the rts everyone played to show their micro skills for 10 years
Unfortunately the only mmo that took pvp seriously was Guildwars1 and we let it slip away long before it reached its 10 years

Look at swtor - it has pretty good pvp, with pvp gear - but they eventually introduced "bolster," to make it so that people in bad, non-pvp gear would get their stats bolstered to basically the first tier of pvp gear.

Why did they do it? So that f2pers, raiders, and fresh lvl 55's wouldn't get stomped all the time and stop pvping, thus giving the hardcore pvpers nobody to fight.

Never played an mmo where the non-hardcore pvper's didn't complain about the gear gap being unfair, but this game as gone pretty extreme for making newbie pvper's lives miserable by not only having gear, but unlockable pvp abilities. Pvp in this game will die pretty quick if they don't change that.

The gear doesn't make THAT big of a difference. high end PvE gear is not great but it's useable. Then there is lv30/40 modes where PvP gear has no benefit. PvP only seems to be heating up right now, not dying.

I haven't been pvping as much, mainly because it seems like it's definitely died down with the huge que times.. also pvp in this game atm is.. meh... I just do it when evers, really just waiting for that 2.15 patch where they will fix some of the problems

PvP gear makes a huge difference... lv70 PvP gear is significantly better than lv55 PvP gear / lv90 PvE gear, and the lv90 PvP gear turns everything else into wet newspaper.

Since warwolf gear in 30/40 becomes lv30/40 pve gear and morale = 0 so they basically pwned you guys with skill and pvp moves sadly. Maybe the cue needs to involve pvp rank(~10/~20/~30) instead of gear requirements.
