Obey = fairy auto casts embrace + you have full manual control.
Steady (after first summoning) = fairy auto casts embrace, but you have no control over her at all.
Steady (after obey/sic) = same as Obey

That uses obey on your current target, if it is an acceptable target, if not it will try your targets target, and if neither of those find a viable target, it will try for your focus target. Generally, if an enemy is not found in 1 of those 3 instances, then there are no enemies nearby or you are out of combat.

Having only <t> means you have to switch to a mob to gain manual control, instead of keeping the tank(s) targeted.
0.5 is fine sure. The only time I heel her is when everything is dead and we are moving to next area, so 1 sec isn't a big deal.

if <tt> targets a player or you happen to have a wrong focused target then the macro goes to waste.
i've used it and it's better to only have <t> and use it on a mob when you have the chance. not a problem to target an enemy once.

obout obey+steady, i'll test, but i don't think it's the same as obey only since steady is an healer stance.

also in 2.0 the pet used to heal more and sooner with steady active.

<tt> will only target a player if you have a player highlighted who is targetting another player (in this case a <t> wouldn't go off either), or a monster targeted (in this case the <t> will go off first). If neither of those find a target, then it will try your focus target. As I said. If none of those finds a viable target to Obey on, you are out of combat anyway. It does <t> first, the next 2 lines are fail safes incase the target you have highlighted is not viable.

Dropping your main heal target to gain manual control is fine in content that doesn't matter, but in heavy healing fights, it can cost you dearly. It's not worth risking it when you can just add an extra 2 lines to your macro.

Obey is "Attack but refrain from using special moves until ordered too".
The fairy has no "Attack" so it is exactly the same as steady (as I said, she comes with a messed up steady that you need to take her out of to gain manual control)
Steady is "Refrain from attacking until ordered to do so". Same as Obey as they have no attack.

I've been playing scholar only for ~8 weeks before 2.1 and since 2.1 hit, they are exactly the same. The difference before/after the patch is: Prior to 2.1 the fairy would blow certain cooldowns in Obey (that is fixed now). They heal at exactly the same rate in either stance. I'm playing with it right now.

Notice how pet controls have nothing to do with a fight. In t4 once you target any mob in the first wave, regardless if fight started or not, and press obey on it, the pet will stay on obey forever until it dies. Idk why everyone is complaining, the new way to control pets is awesome. Obey+ heel and the fairy only casts embrace on her own and nothing else plus you get full control.

I done T4 last night, I never had to keep pressing Obey when something got killed :/.

Why the hell is my two fairies casting Embrace on auto fire while in freakn steady stance? Can they not fix anythign without breaking something else?

A macro I picked up from someone else that's a little superior (IMO) to the macros here for getting faery into Obey is...

/wait 1
/pac heel <me>

This will automatically target any enemy in range and set the pet up correctly. The only time it won't work is if there are no enemies around.

That's really strange...seems like a coil bug. I ran hauke manor HM and copperbell HM yesterday and once I put Selene on obey she stays that way unless - she dies and you have to resummon her. So if your fairy dies and you summon her again, you MUST set her to obey again. As long as she's alive from the time you summon her, target enemy -> hit obey, all she should be doing is Embrace and nothing else. This applies to both fairies.

Even though having to target an enemy to set the faery into Obey is really clunky and frankly stupid, I like the rest of the faery changes. I can FINALLY reliably have a Whispering Dawn macro, which is what I always wanted. Selene's automatically cycling through the hastes is just an added bonus. Also, I guess I can switch everything to Mouseover targeting now that the faeries finally work that way.

I've also realized since my post that I had a macro written incorrectly, so I may have confused it with that.

LOVE the obey macros you guys have posted!!!

So strange, however, the idea of pressing steady after obey - I mean, shouldn't those actually be different stances?

Logically speaking, shouldn't it be:

Sic = fairy does what it wants
Obey = fairy follows caster commands
Steady = fairy does nothing

At any rate, I do the obey + heel combo and that works fine.
