The Garleans have fought Primals in other nations. Their first contact with them was during the campaign of Orthal(actually don't remember what the place was called, it did start with an "O"). The emperor actually suffered a grave wound in that battle.

Updated for the E3 2014 Interview with Fernehalwes and accompanying podcast. Thanks so much to MCKF for his time, and to you forumgoers, as well, without whom there would be less of a "lore forum" and more of a "group of weirdos who crash the text bug report forum to debate whether fireflies are related to plasmoids."
Fun Depressing Fact:
Every time I update this thread, I look back at the test draft I did for raid backstory Lore Trains and feel really bad about not ever publishing that...
-
Oh, I so wish this was stickied. I missed the last one. *goes to read*

Figured I'd bump this thread and give you guys a heads up-
We'll be recording the next episode of lorecast at Las Vegas... with Fernehalwes!

No plans to stream it sorry. IDK if I trust the hotel wifi for that haha.
We'll do our best to edit/transcribe the interview ASAP for everyone though!

Our transcription is still a work-in-progress, but the goal was to get this out as close to live as possible, so have at it!
After a long day of Fan Fest chaos, tired-but-lore-hyped Fernehalwes sat down with tired-but-lore-hyped me and Fusionx, and we went over nearly all the things that either we've wondered about or that we've noticed you've wondered about. We talked about the weekday names, we talked about Teledji's lineage, we talked about Travanchet, and we talked CNJ and THM splitting the elemental wheel. We talked about what era it really is, Atomos, Dunstan, Ixal weaponry, the origin of scholar fairies, and even some random questions I picked up from fans waiting in line. We talked about Sthalmann. We talked about Sthalmann.
If Podcasts are your bag, come check it out now. If not, fear not. The transcript of the interview will be up soon, as I'm violating my one podcast rule (never listen to your own podcast) to help get it out as quickly as possible.
As always, huge thanks to Koji Fox for his time, enthusiasm, and ne'er-ending support of those who frequent this forum. Even after being a translator, hosting a lore panel, and acting as the Metatron of Oda-san and the LOC team all day, he still found time to give a little more, and it may well send his exhaustion level into the Yoshida Zone.

That interview was great! I particularly enjoyed the answers about Dalamund, the Scholar fairies and Archons. Thanks a bunch Anonymoose, Fusionx and Ferne (and all of the lore and localization teams). :) Exploring the world of Hydaelyn is one of my favorite parts of the game.
It would be awesome if the lore head, Mr. Oda, could appear have a panel at the Tokyo Fanfest.:D

Thanks so much Moose. So glad to hear the namedays are there, now for them to only implement them <3
Ferne didn't answer the Primal question though :( guessing it's not going to be Ramuh (its still Ramuh) and it'll be something tied into Ala Mhigo when we get to go there.
Props to Ferne, Fusionx and Anwyll for this.
