The misconception of Housing prices!

It's ok guys.. We will all be able to afford a house in 6 or 7 years..

Seriously though, I can't wait to see what the pricing of "Personal Housing" will be, when that is released - if they think that these FC prices are even remotely reasonable.

I honestly thought SE were trolling, or someone made a mistake and added an extra 0 when I read the notes.

Didn't Yoshi say a long time ago in a letter that "A small house would be around the cost of 3x people finishing the storyline, and pooling all of their money together" ?

That's what - 3 mil for a small house tops? That's pretty reasonable.

I think most of this comes down to entitlement of players again. Players who want things that are just obtainable to them but somehow not obtainable for others, if it isn't, then the price is absurd.

I don't know how old you are most of the players here, but think about buying a real house. How much time did you spend on your last (or ongoing current) mortgage?

The issue is more about the margin between servers.. A "small" house for the worst place in the zone is 20 or 40 mil on a Legacy server.

Except there will be benefits for having a FC and/or personal home which will make the time spent in them somewhat worth. So not pure vanity.... I don't like the real life comparisons either, though.

The prices also drop. I have to agree with the OP that these prices are for GUILD HALLS. No INDIVIDUAL is intended to be able to raise this amount of cash. That would be ludicrous. The prices also drop by 14% every six hours, so any company without the bankroll to pay the hefty fee right out of the gates won't have to. I suspect, and rightly so, that when individual housing is released that the prices will be more in line with what an individual can afford. I kind of see this as an individual being taken aback by the price of a skyscraper when they should be looking at the price of a single-family home.

I'll answer both post with this one.
A FC housing takes a fraction of the time compared to a real house already is my point when I compared it to real life. Just because this is a video game doesn't mean that things should just be "handed" to you. It's not like it's going to take you 10 yrs of mortgage before you can afford an ingame FC housing. From my solo earning perspective, it'll take me roughly 2-3 months to earn the smallest one. That means a FC of 40 people can earn this in less than 3 days lol.

Now you can probably say i'm one of the faster money earners so let's 1/3 the speed of my money making ability. That's still less than 1-2 week to earn the smallest housing if everyone works to pool the money together. Ok, let's now look at it from a casual perspective that people only contribute 40 % of their earnings. That will take a little over 1-2 month to gather the sum. You see, things don't look that bleak when you actually "try" instead of sit there and go nope, it's impossible. Moving along!!!

P.S prices of house also decrease with time. So account for that, the duration is even further reduced.

Move to a server where the large plot is 625mil and we'll see how you feel about farming that :).

Nothing like getting 90% gil-reduction then 1000% housing inflation... Just because you stuck it out and played this game through it's duration....

Those prices are calculated based on the amount of gil circulating in that server. Obviously, those servers have a lot more gil in circulation than others. Prices of mats are higher in those players etc. Come on, it's like you're not even trying. I can make more money on a server with more gil than on a server with less gil.
