I wouldn't count on it. I have had no problems commanding Ifrit to use his stun ability but he is pretty slow to react, especially he he just cast another abiility.

Maybe it's just an issue on SMN, but I've noticed a very noticeable delay between when you've pressed the button of a pet ability and when said ability goes off. That delay is way too big for silencing something when you've only got a second and a half window to do it.

The delay is only if the pet is already doing something else in the moment. It finish first it's attack (or healing), before it start to follow your command.
