I have spent money and played many games only a short period of time, and I have spent lots of money playing games I really enjoyed. I played WOW
and EQ for many years, and many expantions. I like this game a lot, but I don't play on a daily basis. I guess I don't get burnt out because of that.
This game does seem to have a lot of content, and I really enjoy the crafting, although I haven't done it for a while. I will concentrate on story-line for awhile,
then on crafting. Sometimes, I just like chatting /w people in my FC. I don't know any of them in real life. As for time to play with your FC, if times don't coincide
with your work, your better off just quitting work! ( JK). LOL . Find a FC that fits in your time slot. Hope you find what yer lookin for.

IMO it seems you need to find another FC, I understand you are in one with friends but if it's not willing to help you when you are on then what's the point in being in it? Like I suggested earlier you should also find a LS and ask for help. I'm always helping my LS with dungeons and not once has my FC let me down when asking for help, I believe that's why they are there.

I play at night after 8pm central so my que times for dungeons are almost zero. The trick is to click that box that says join party in progress.
My reason for staying? Well I'm playing around with a recording program. Been uploading videos for the first time on youtube. I don't do commentary as of yet since I don't have a group online when I play. Also it degradesz the sound quality of the game sounds.
Other than that I'm just dinking around and not real hardcore with the game itself.

Relic Problems
These relic weapons are messing up the game they need taking out or fix duty finder soon people only do relic +1 speed runs in WP or AK, because if you trying to gear out a new character in DL gear you can't get a group. Make duty finder faster or acorss server to make it faster (World of war Craft) does this and had no problem with this. Please fix it or I'm quitting this game, this is a good game but you guys need fix a bunch of stuff in game before should bring a new patch with new contact in the future, I feel like I'm wasting my time waiting for (Duty Finder).

Since you know your FC in real life, it would make sense to talk to them about it and ask for some help with the dungeons. If not, I would suggest you take Johnbeck's solution and find a LS that suits you. You might consider checking for newbie-friendly FCs if they have a LS group to help, or the forums. You might get lucky just shouting out for help as well. If you can't find one, start your own. Maybe there are a few players in your FC who like to help others, or maybe your FC members know players with that tendency. Get them to ask and form a core group for your LS.
I'm not certain if you will get it done in a week, but I do hope you try and I hope you find something to your liking. Otherwise, it was nice meeting you and hopefully some of us will see you in another mmo. There are some fantastically good releases coming.
Although this is a non-sequitor from the main topic on hand, dutfyinder is already cross-server. To be fair, NA servers don't cross with EU or JP servers, so Crazyjz is correct. The language barrier in the proposed case though would make such groups less than optimal, especially for players new to the dungeon who might need to discuss strategies. I can see a benefit though if everyone knows how to run the dungeon and you just need more players queuing.
As for geared AK and WP speed runs on DF, there will always be elitists who insist on gear. Often those players are stuck waiting for hours, far longer than they would with a DF anyway. The key reason players do that though is so they can run 10 such instances and cap out their week in under 3 hours. As fun as this sounds, I don't think the majority of players have the endurance or tolerance for that. Short of forcing players to randomly join a party or preventing them from choosing party members, there's no way to eliminate the discrimination. As is, the biggest problem you have seems to be the community at end-game. And I must say, I don't see a way for the developers to fix that.

Quick reply to those who have mentioned my FC. The guys in my FC are great, and they have been very helpful. The issue really isn't their unwillingness to help as they are always willing, the issue is my schedule, so they aren't always around when I find time to get on.
To be honest I find myself fiending to get on and play, but once I log on I question why I am logging on in the first place. So there is obviously *something* about the game that I enjoy. Otherwise I wouldn't be trying so hard to find something.
In every MMO I have played I usually find myself in an end-game centered Guild. I usually play as a niche class. In this case I understood SCH was 'the' niche class. Figured DPS is a dime a dozen and I dont have the patience to deal with the toxic players that tanks have to contend with. So, kudos to tanks. Always have my respect, even the newbies.
At any rate, again, thanks for the suggestions.

if u r not enjoying the game after 3 weeks and close to end game; and have that many negative, just drop it
hope u find a better game for u that fit ur preference..
enjoy

IMO, you should not play, OP. If its not fun, heck, if its not the most fun thing you want to do, you shouldn't waste time on it. If you aren't enjoying the game already, I doubt you ever will.

Regarding the slow Chocobo leveling, that is from what I understand due to the Chocobo being at the players level when summoned so the exp required from say a level 46 Chocobo to rank up is substantially higher than a level 30 Chocobo...and the system is slightly glitchy from my understanding.
My way of playing is slow and divides my time in the game with a goal to enjoy the levelling journey rather than anticipating the end of that journey, so it may not be for you but it may give you some ideas. I too work shifts and cannot be online at predictable hours nor for long periods of time.
I am levelling a Conjurer, I am levelling a Weaver to supply the Conjurer and a Botanist to supply the Weaver... so I mix up my times with gathering materials for my weaver to craft and do quests when I have a little longer to give to the game, I am currently 2 - 3 levels above my story line quests without any grinding...just incidental fates, side stuff I happen across and a few dungeon runs (I run each at least once, and Ifrit a few times to help others get past that quest).
I would guess you are too eager to get to the 'fun' and frustrated you cannot level fast enough to join the 'fun' (AKA end game), and subscribe to the notion that the game only begins at the end game, in that case yes the game would be bad for you... there isnt much end game at the moment and it features a LOT of dungeon grinding for tomes to gear up for the big dungeon.
I would suggest you actually slow down, get your crafter and gatherer up to where you can craft gear for your battle class, spend time with the Chocobo and generally relax instead of rushing to max level.
I have only level 26 Conjurer, Level 15 Arcanist, Level 9 - 10 Thaum, Level 13 Weaver , Level 19 Botanist and nearly 3 weeks into the game... I find I have too much to do at the moment ...need materials to level my crafter to craft gear and meld materia for my main while slowly getting my main to 30 so I can go White Hat Mage and get my Conjurer mount and Chocobo companion.

@Erghiez .. A lot of what you put is how I feel now.
I started playing with my husband when the game came out. I am one who loves to try everything, so I picked up crafting and harvesting as I went along.
I got in a great FC, so people were around to do things. I love making items and the like. But now, I am bored.
RL has gotten me doing other things, so my husband is now level 50 and grinding philos. I'm only 48 struggling to level. A lot of my FC is focusing on that part of the end game (which I don't blame them. They want their gear etc.)
I do not feel FATEs should be the way to level. It should be supplemental. Something to do while you are out questing.
But the world it TOO SMALL. There are VERY little quests. All it is is GRINDING.
I have read people who say they have leveled to 50 w/o using FATES or grinding, but I kinda call a bit of BS on that. I have done every quest I have found unlocked for me in each area, and I started running out around level 42-43. So I had to grind levels in order to open the next chapter of the main story (which is the WORST game mechanic I have found).
I try to stay for the RP, but I just can't get into things. I'm hoping 2.1 helps, but even all that seems to be is focused on the end game. People have been commenting that yoshi-P sees 1-49 as a tutorial .. for casuals. That level 50 is where the game starts.
And if that is true, that is bullcrap.
