Yea, that one's basically Limsa's version of Dunes.

lol. If you had wanted to troll, this would be the perfect troll post. Unfortunately you shall never leave! You will be there until rank 50 and beyond. There are a few quests that take you on some nice trips. And I always skipped between the 3 cities every other leve reset to give myself some variety. You get bonus rewards when you trade in your guildleves at a different city.
You can leave at rank 1 if you wish, but a few of the best leves are in Uldah, so you'll be back around 33 all the way to 50.
All of your retainers are belong to us.
edit - OH MY GOD I HAVE A GOLD MEDAL
- If you do the main quest you will have to leave Ul'dah at some point. ^^
- Or if you want to join any of the class guilds that are not in Ul'dah, you will have to travel to one of the other cities where that guild is located, and do their quests in order to gain some new abilities.
- Also, there are many Notorious Monsters that appear in non-Thanalan areas, and you will probably eventually like to fight those.
The world is pretty large and you can explore if you want to at any time. If you stick to the main path, you can travel to most places safely. Just touch the aetheryte gates along the way so you can teleport back later whenever you like.
It's pretty amazing what you can find if you explore. There was a recent thread where someone posted screenshots of an area in northern Thanalan that many people had never seen before. I've been playing just about every day since October and have been to many places throughout Eorzea, but there are still many things I haven't seen.
That reminds me! I still need to find the red walls in Thanalan and visit the windmills in Coerthas. ^^
The game is fairly large.
The camps 10,20,30 are fairly decent in all 3 city zones, 40s though uldah zones are head and shoulders better leaves.
Normal partys (not-leve) are actually best outside uldah... above rank 26. Fairly easy to pull 25-26k/hr steadyon these groups which is about around where you will get in leves when you factor in downtime.
All 3 starting zones are made up into multiple zones which can level you all the way to cap. With Corthas and Mordona being more mid/upper level areas only.
