I don't believe I mentioned struggling for MP. I said it's MP inefficient.
I'm not going to get much into it more than this because this is not a DPS forum, but for SCH DPS, which is a little different than SMN, you should Cleric Stance -> Bio II -> Miasma I -> Bio -> Bane -> Miasma II (if you are close to mobs or in mobile party; having to run back and forth will cost a couple seconds which will screw up the DoT upkeep) -> Swiftcast + Shadow Flare (if your group doesn't need Sacred Soil) -> Thunder rotation (or Aero if needed in mobile party) -> Ruin (Ruin II if mobile) -> refresh dots as necessary. However, unless you're in a good group, it's more often than not you're going to have to break this up with heals and you probably won't even have time to Ruin after the Thunder rotation because the DoTs will need refreshed. And even if the mob is nearly dead, Energy Drain will be better.
Ruin II should be exclusively used for the Blind effect unless you are mobile, where yes, you will be using it more often. Your DoTs are your main sources of DPS.

I must admit I have a hard time understanding people saying Ruin I is useless, when it costs half the MP of Ruin II for the exact same DMG, and Blind gets resisted if used too often...
I also use Ruin II only for blind effect (or for casting while moving), as previously mentionned.
Just because mana is not as much of an issue as for WHM doesn't mean it's better to waste it for no benefit. Any attention/time wasted on getting mana back whenever the fight gets critical won't be used on keeping my group alive (Yeah, I'm not an exeptionnal player, I do need to actually pay attention when I'm healing)
