Buffs (including Life Surge) don't work on LB.
Even the gear of the person using LB doesn't matter.
The only thing that matters is the average iLvL of weapons in the party.

People need to get away from that mentality that bigger numbers mean you are the better dps. A BLM hits extremely slow, so these high humbers are needed to stay competitive. As a dragoon you get to pretty much attack twice per GCD due to the number of off GCD's and you have an autoattack that deals additional damage. MNKs numbers are even smaller, yet their fast attack speed makes them parse quite a bit higher than BLMs and DRGs.

Say I hit for 2k every 10 sec, but you're hitting 500 every 1 sec, does that make me OP and you balanced? People see big hits and automatically think it means you're OP. have you even played as a dragoon? saying that a blm hits 2k per 10 seconds is realistic. and that number miltiplies when you count AoE. Any dragoon, even the best geared ones, have NEVER done 500 damage per one second. for a dragoon to deal 2k damage, even with all his buffs, it would take way more than ten seconds.

i understand that just because someone hits harder, or with the occasional bigger number it doesnt necessarily mean they have higher dps. what im saying is that in *this* specific case it does apply.

the day that my dragoon can help complete AK in 10 minutes that is the day i will say dps is balanced...

If I consider nothing crits :
Jump w/ PS 700, True thrust 350, Vorpal thrust 500, Full thrust 700, under BfB, HT and target under Disembowel.

Add to this : Dragonfire Dive, LS for a crit (1k1) on FT or Jump, Leg Sweep AND the dots ticking at least 3 times.

You're comparing the job with the best AOEs, buffed by BRD, killing a shitload of monsters against... A class made for single target.
DPS might not be balanced, but this is not what DPS is.

You can do much more than 2k in 2 seconds.

usually i try not to get caught up in these things, but you honestly caught me at a really bad time. and that is why i will say that "You can do much more than 2k in 2 seconds." is by far the stupidest thing i have read in this forum so far. The best geared dragoons can hit a little over 1k with blood for blood and life surge with full thrust which is the highest burst damage skill available. and for that scenario, it would have to be an ideal scenario with both buffs on, which have crazy cooldowns so its not like you deal that damage consistently, plus the fact that it is the third skill as part of a combo chain. furthermore, that skill is part of the global cooldown so casting your next skill will take 2.5 seconds and no skill off the global cooldown will bring you up to 2k.

if you want to debate with me, im all for it. but be prepared to state facts and not made up numbers to express stupid ideology.

and for the record, blm dont just out damage other dps classes in aoe, they do so in single target too.
