First, the Nerf Holy thread and now this. lol
^ well this community prefer to nerf their own party power in a pure pve game instead of L2P so why not follow the mass playing ball?

I love it most because everyone is crying nerf this nerf that. What's going to happen when SE listens and nerfs everything straight into the ground and Coil Turn 1 is impossible cuz nobody can DPS anymore?

Your math is right, your assumptions are just wrong.
1) You're assuming all pieces have the same drop rate
2) You assume both earrings are of same value. Maiming earrings are shitty btw
3) You assume melees have the same chances of getting into coil compared to a ranged dps. Groups usually bring only 1 melee dps, meaning a melee will have half the chance of joining a coil group compared to a ranged dps. I don't see what's wrong with them having a higher drop rate for earrings if that's the case. AND...if you ever do bring 2 melee dps, their chances of getting an earring is the same as a bard since they'll have to compete (unless you stack 2 bards like every other group).
If you really want to make the argument that tanks/healers/casters have to share loot compared to melee/bards, I'll agree...but it seems like you're just out for blood because bards are getting nerfed.

I hope you realize you can't lot "need" on Maiming unless you're DRG, and you can't lot "need" on Striking unless you're MNK.
The item says "all jobs" but the lot rules are specific to the job.
