Good idea... come to think of it, it would be interesting if they made content along these lines that involves all crafters (it could sort've be their exclusive "end-game" since working them into actual combat encounters has apparently proven too difficult/possibly gimmicky).

For instance, they could involve crafters in the building of new towns and garrisons expanding into Eorzea through special repeatable leves for certain-ranked crafters, or by making untradeable/unique materials to be given to NPCs.

All of that and more!

And what's great, they've even got a ready-made story for exactly that: Ala Mhigo. An entire city was destroyed and a whole culture displaced. The place is teeming with monsters that need to be cleared out, resources to be collected, an Empire to hold at bay, and ruins to be built back into a city.

Something that I hope would take a few months to complete, and require the cooperation of hundreds of players. Benefits for helping might be slightly higher discounts for buying items there, better prices for sold goods, higher reputation than those who didn't help, a special construction hat (:p), etc.

Interesting idea. We do have pathways on the maps which aren't visible roads. Perhaps a movement speed bonus on paving stones versus compressed gravel versus no roads could be applied.
