Our characters are evil, main quest proves it.

Usually people who are evil don't know or realize they are. Hitler believed in his cause, does that make him a good person? Gaius's ways were through the use of force and without mercy, he was an evil character no matter his beliefs.

I love how people just say the Mother Crystal is the source of all life on Eorzea like it's a fact when it's equally as likely that it's a parasite that's been feeding off that very source like what the Ascian suggests. At this point, I trust no one.

Yup after doing the main story quests and some of the job quests I trust no one.

Whats up with saving Thancred but not Gaius? We just left him to die ffs! Gaius is clearly not an evil person because despite his actions - he genuinely feels that the empire ruling Eorzea is better for us. In his mind he is helping us - he even say this to our character.

From a consequentialistic and utilitarian moral philosophy standpoint - Gaius is a decent man trying to do good. He is from an ethical perspective - a good person.

And what does our character do? LEAVE HIM FOR DEAD. But hey, lets save Thancred.

Leaving Gaius to die just shows we are not better than them. First I cant join Gaius, then I must leave him behind lol.

Well. Guess thats it. Thoughts?

As long as I'm a Warrior of Light, I will remain positive about Hydaelyn. Sorry, my affinity to this as an FF fan far outweighs anything.

That being said, the Ascians (Lahabrea, Zodiark, and all those names) are all known to be the Scions of Light in FFXII lore. Ultima is also in it. Take that for what you will regarding Hydaelyn's involvement with the planet.

I feel when the storyline continues (level cap increase) we may be picking between the dark or light side.
Just a prediction.

There is no absolute good or evil. There are sides. And the winning side has the privilege of writing the history books.

And I'm not on the Ascian's side, nor am I on Gaius' side. It doesn't mean I'm right, nor does it mean I'm wrong. I may be both and yet neither, but I do have a stake in seeing my side win.

Let's see how this plays out.
