If you didn't full download it before, you still need to download it. It doesn't magically give you a 22gb download, considering the System update itself is only 340 mb. So fully download that patch.

However following that you shouldn't have an issue if your PS4 unexpectedly powers off.

As I said. The update doesn't magically download 22gb for you.

If you didn't fully download the 22gb patch before this, you still need to download it. Following that, the problem will resolve itself.

The latest PS4 update(4.72) fixed the issue. I restored my PS4 using my backup then I tried to recreate the "22GB+ first time setup" issue and it is definitely fixed.

To those who are still downloading it, finish the update and you don't have to worry about the power outtage that triggers the issue anymore.

Corrupted Data is Corrupted, all the update does is prevent the situation from happening again.

I'm glad the update is working for everyone! I was lucky I only encountered the problem once but I'm glad that it's finally fixed. Given the time they took to make this update, it was no small problem too. Of course you still have to download the 22gb but after this, the problem won't happen again from what I'm seeing.

Thank u Sony for resolving SE's fck up, thank u for looking into the one of many games on ur console updating ur system software to be compatible with this one game the only game that has this problem must be a right pain when the game should work for ur system not the other way around especially when it's a buggy game like ffxiv so thank u Sony for bitting the bullet and getting this issue resolved while SE neglected communication with there loyal paying customers for so long and pointed fingers

Umm this happened for Destiny players and other games with an MMO launcher.

Lol did some research there's nothing about any other games having this issue lately and there's a comment in here were a guy confirmed that this was the only mmo of his that he had problems with I just gotta dig for it and like hell if Sony take the fault for this, this problem happened the moment stoormblood was released early access, Sony didnt make the game

You have no idea of who was at fault here. This issue didn't happen to me on PC, which was built by SQEX also.

U have a lot of upset players here we pay SE for there service the lack of communication regardless if they were not able to fix it themselve is unacceptable, I'm tired of ppl trashing Sony this definitely can not be there fault they allow companies to make games for their system shouldn't the games be compatible with the system?

Its not like Sony came out with an update that caused this issue this was a problem once patch 4.0 was downloaded for ps4 users from then on u were walking a fine line

How isn't this Sony's fault? o.o This was a PS4 issue. PS4 are manufactured by Sony not by SQEX, SQEX isn't able to push system updates by itself. FFXIV worked fine on PC, where there's no Sony, only SQEX. Why are you trashing SQEX then?

Sorry for my previous rant lol I had no idea that the recent PlayStation firmware update has resolved the issue, and so now I guess I'll be buying this game Friday as I'm currently on the free trial level 24 Thaumaturge, and was gonna wait to puchase full game until the issue was resolved, but apparently it's fixed so yea I'm all in this Friday

I recommend getting this one first as you're going to also get 30 days free. Then get Stormblood as it has both expansions included. It's 5 dollars off on Amazon right now if you can spare the money.

Nope. Same thing just happened to me. And I didn't even have a power outage. Exited FF14 last night and put my PS4 into rest mode before going to bed. Woke up, turned it back on, started FF14, and now I'm being forced to download a 22.7gb "update" that's going to take approx. 9 hours. Which means by the time I get home from work tonight the update will likely not be finished in time for maintenance.

The hotfixes did not work.
