So I did a search on google, and although I don't know if it's 100% true, I read that female rabbits tend to be bigger than male rabbits of the same breed.

I still really don't like how childlike the short Viera look (it'd be more jarring than the Au Ra's and that is saying something). So a compromise. The males can be short (maybe their max height matching the shortest Midlander/Miqo'te male or female), but they still look like adults. Maybe even stocky like a dwarf.
Hey, if Viera do turn out to be a thing and the males turn out to be short, at least give me some form of a Dragon Age/Tokien dwarf race.
I'm all for the two tribes, normal viera (both genders) and chibi viera (both genders)
I'm not a fan of the stocky dwarf aesthetic so I'm gonna pass.
A lot of people say things could get weird if we have childlike races.
We have lalafell. People will argue that lalafells are passable because they do not necessarily have human child proportions.
Now, Yoshi P seems hung up on viera having digitigrade feet if they are ever added into the game. (Even though I would be fine with normal human hands and feet). If Yoshi P decides to add a viera race with digitigrade feet, then obviously, this new race wouldn't have human child proportions, and should be able to pass. If this viera race will have digitigrade feet, rabbit ears, and a tail, then I can argue that lalafells look closer to human children than a viera with these traits would.
^ Also, ffxiv viera might have claws as well.
And both male and female Lalafell roughly match the same height and don't look older than one another (Au Ra mostly have a height difference and somewhat of an age difference in appearance. Thankfully, female Au Ra will always look to be in their late teens). Picture a tall female Viera who could look to be in her early thirties, with a husband of the same race who barely grows taller than her knees/waist and looks like a 12 year old (but also in their early thirties).
I'm pretty sure the picture of the 'short' Viera concepts may actually just be a picture of what the Viera children could/world look like (though I find it odd that the females look more rabbit like than the males).
That's two different races. I'm talking about the exact same race, but one growing to look like an adult and the other who seems to stop growing and ageing at the age of 12 (but is still technically an adult because reasons that make no sense). That's no bueno.
Heck, the childlike Viera don't look that much different from the Miqo'te children (the males don't exist yet, so can only compare the female Miqo'te and Viera children).
Why do you want, or rather, why are you fine with children (you can't compare them to Lalafell. They're similar in appearance to Miqo'te children) being playable? I don't see the appeal and it makes more sense and appear less creepy to make them look like adults (even if they're short), hence the rabbit-dwarf.
Siliconera pushing the story too:

Well, that's nice for you. However, your basic argument that the notion is morally bankrupt if one gender appears much younger than the other within the context of the same race doesn't really stand.
First of all, lalafells are practically slightly oversized, human looking toddlers. Meaning they are a very valid comparison in regards to what you're saying. It's widely accepted that intimate relationships occur between said race and all others within the game world.
So this type of reverse sexual dimorphism within the Viera race, wouldn't exactly make 'less sense' and be 'more creepy' within the game world. We already partly see this in the Au Ra physiology.
And anyway the bunny boys are really cute and i want to see them!
I would be pretty disappointed if male Viera were just bunny-eared dwarves. Dwarves should really be their own race, and I'd welcome their addition to the game, though my guess is you wouldn't really see Magni Bronzebeard so much as Kili from the Hobbit, in terms of build and beards.
Female Viera work well as tall Amazoness type individuals, I don't think anyone is arguing against that, but when it comes to males, we could use another shorter (Miqo'te / Female Au Ra height range), pretty boy type option. I'd be pretty disappointed if we ended up with another male option for a race that looks, 'Different,' or, 'Manly,' for the sake of it. I'll never be able to play an Au Ra Male because their faces come in two flavors; Rage, and Murderer. Same thing with male Highlanders, except you can include Insomniac and Suicidal Depression to their range of facial options. Male Roegadyn have heads that look far too small compared to the rest of their bodies, Male Elezen are called Giraffes for a reason, and as for Lalafell, just no. I played a Tarutaru in FFXI, I've paid my dues.
I'm glad they pushed the story properly, simply framing the situation as it is quoted. I do wish Yoshi P would stop planting seeds like this though (especially when it comes to healers), it causes so much toxicity within the community. This quote from the article sums up my feelings on the issue:
Quote:
Yoshida. Full fucking stop.I understand as the producer of the game, it's part of his job to promote and hype it up, but stop giving "pie in the sky" responses/make comments about things you're still toying around with. Now the forums are about to get 20 more ridiculous threads crowding the front page, and FCS are going to start blowing up over a very minute, offhand ed comment that might not materialize into anything.
Didn't the Mithra in FFXI have short fur covering their bodies? If a Viera race is ever introduced maybe we can get something like that for them? :D
Also, for the male Viera, what if they were made short slim and child-like similar to the Prums from the novel DanMachi by Fujino Omori except a little bit more close to teen-like while the female Viera remain tall and amazon-like with their height being between the Highlander Hyur and Elezen? It would give us both another tall and short race (though hopefully lest awkward to some) in one!
Yeah I'm glad about it . MORE press MORE demand for Viera to be added. Things are coming around nicely . there seems to be something going on behind scenes cause for the man himself to give us more reason to speculate about it (other wise would of say something like "no plan for it at the Moment in other words forget it BUT that's not the case sadly for some). Plus seems like the Nay sayers have gone quiet.
If they implemented Viera, I'd never fantasia again after I switched......
Maybe thats why they dont want to implement it....I may be an addict >.>
This is the same man that showed us the Cloud bike that was never intended for release. Yoshi P is a hype machine, but not all his hype has any weight to it, this has been evidenced more than once.
Also, the only reason that he was even talking about it is because an interviewer (who was clearly a fan of Viera) asked about it.
Actually, it was confirmed very recently that the Cloud bike has been scrapped. (presumably because the biggest issue isn't the speed, rather its offroad capabilities and flexibility of movement)
eh I've changed my mind. why not. we could use the sexy buns!
Amazon Viera, please! :D
support Viera race in ffxiv^^
Just because the shorties look like Children, whats to say they don't have sharp teeth? The minds of adults or rabid tendencies? I really like the concept art of both types of Viera and I think that only including one or the other would upset: someone.
YOSHIP FOR PREZ 2020 MAKE EORZEA GREAT AGAIN WITH VIERA LIKE RACE
It's like you don't even read everything I write and that makes it frustrating to even argue with you. So I'll say it plainly: childlike Viera (which are comparable to the Miqo'te children, not Lalafell. I'll keep repeating this since you seem to be ignoring this) as a playable race is a bad idea and it is jarring when you have one gender look like adults and the other look like they should still be going to elementary school and it gets worse when you think how Viera 'happen.'
I'm fine with the childlike Viera actually being the children NPCs of Viera. Of course, that means the males will also have to be tall and look like adults (but can still shorter than the females).
Unfortunately, this would be like adding -2- new races rather than one. That's the reason why both Au Ra have tall hulking monstrous males and little waifu china doll females, rather than one having tall hulking males and females, and the other having short china dolls.
You: short/cute male vieras would be weird because like.. imagine a tall female viera having a short husband up to her knees/waist (lol?) and it'd be WEIRD
Me: -shows video of lalafell and roegadyn wedding-
You: but dude that like doesn't count!
lol ok ;););)
I agree in that no playable race should ever look Child-Like, and that Lalafell toe that line dangerously as is. That said, I don't find female Au Ra to look, 'Childlike,' so much as, 'Youthful, Refined, and Elegant,' and that is something I would like to see embodied in a male Viera. They don't need to be -that- short, they can certainly be of a height with male Miqo'te. Give me a Viera that looks like Tidus, rather than one which looks like E-Yumi-San from the Conjurer's Guild, and I'll be happy.
I never really said Au Ra female were childlike (though there will be children NPCs in SB). They're roughly meeting the age of 18 with their appearance, but it's jarring when they're much shorter than the males (who what, match the tallest Roegadyn female in height? while the female can be shorter than a Miqo'te female), who also look like they can look like they're in their late 20's. I've been arguing that I find it creepy when one gender of a race can look well over 20 (maybe older), while the other stops at the age of 12.
If the males do end up being short, then I'd like them to still look like adults, or at least, between 18-20 years old (entering adulthood). That way it won't be creepy. Just... about as jarring as the Au Ra, probably (depending on the size difference)
Seeing that no one has ever seen a Male before and only heard about it in the lore, what they could look like is totally up in the air. Personally I would be ok with have Females taller then the males. They'd be the only race in the game that would be like that so far and adds a little uniqueness to the game
