Just want to bring this request back up again. It's been a pet peeve of mine for years that the Riviera awnings block rain but the Glade ones don't. Not sure about Oasis, however I want parity between awnings!

Have we ever had a response why the game defaults our character to the yard instead of inside the house/private chambers where we logged out?
also logout animations like the ones used for the Inn?
Please, PLEASE, make it where we can move houses without having to destroy millions upon millions of expensive housing items. I am not alone in wanting to be able to move house without being heavily penalized. My Hatchling Lamp sits comfortably on my retainer, unable to be put down, along with many other items. Yes, I knew when I bought it I would probably never be able to actually use it but it's still a really crap rule and depressing to think about. My house may as well be abandoned because I refuse to throw more money into an abyss in case later on I want a different house. Is this really how you envisioned housing being implemented? Players unable to furnish their homes because they knew they would lose 50 mil+ on moving? Smaller homes not becoming available because those who want to move out of them are bound by this rule to staying in them?
I miss those and the waking up animations, too. They were such a nice touch and something that made this game stand out from others I'd played.
It would be so nice to log out the same way you do at the inn and to actually wake up in your own bed.
Logging in to see your character standing outside in the rain is fairly sad.
I will take the ability to move a house over upgrading an exising house. Due to game limitations built into housing, moving a house would be easier to get into the game, than completely rebuilding the housing wards so all plots are the same size in order to make upgrading a house even a possibility.
Some mailbox alternative would be great to have.
Tonberry: Lamp lights up when you have new mail. Alternative marberry design and scholar tonberry (w/o knife) design.
Chocobo: Small worn wood house with a nest and chocobo chick on top. Eggshell glows with new mail. Alternative fat chocobo box as well.
Cactaur: Small cactuar on a goblet style desert stone box. The cactaur itself lights up. Alternatives include a gold saucer version with waving senor sabotender, fat cactaur sitting lazily on the stone box and flowering sabotender with flowers on the box.
Goblin: A metal box with a goblin holding a bomb creature. Bomb creature glows when you have mail. Alternative illuminati blue metal box with illuminati goblin on top.
Carbuncle: Blue (yellow & red alternatives) carbuncle on a ruby shaped box. Carbuncle glows when you have new mail.
Some non-monster based boxes as well like a fat lush tree shaped mailbox, a windmill box and a mini fountain box would go well too.
I'd also like a combination aetheryte mailbox (combines aetheryte crystal with mailboxes) so there's one slot freed up in the yard and we don't have to figure out where to stuff the single large glowing crystal. Either hidden in the mailbox or add the rotating crystal to the middle of the mailbox post.
Outdoor furniture inside. There are some really nice theme furniture and grass floor and nature walls.
Can we have more outside theme furniture for inside?
-Two tier fountain and bird bath
-Wall dividers that look like lattice with flowers/vines on it.
-Deck
-BBQ!
-Tire swing! Animated emote when using the swing! (ok that really should be outside now) XD
-Beds on the floor (Japanese style or sleeping bags?)
Just all random ideas. :3
Edit: Also, With a lot of people wanting to move their house with out loosing items. Can the Merchant in the Wards have an option to Pay ??? amount of gil to transfer all the items to the new home? Still a gil sink, but not so much if people want to keep their stuff?
Not sure if this is the place to put this, but I hope it is. Order of Nald'thal Lectern is considered a desk, and I can put stuff on it. But when I try putting a Lalafellin Stepstool behind it, it just phases through. They have the same thing at the thaumaturge's guild, with the stepstool as it should be(granted, that it's part of the zone). I just thought I could put a chair or the stepstool behind it to have it fit.
Another thing with Masonwork Stove. Got one set up, and tried putting up 'A Knight to Remember' on it, as it seemed like the best place to put it. Yet, like what I said above, it phases through the Stove and tries to put itself onto the wall. Things can't even be put on the mantle of the Stove.
There's actually a graphical technique involving Housing items that you can use. It's been around for +2 years and was never actually patched out, since it's entirely cosmetic and doesn't harm the game in any way.
By using Partitions and Shelves in mouse mode, you can manipulate the item placement to allow both Wall and Tabletop Furniture to be suspended in mid-air.
Some folks do this already to suspend items like stuffed dolls, clocks, and portraits over the Masonwork Store. Or, a Candle Pricket / Food / etc. on top of the Manor Harpsichord, or dolls on the Glade Canopy Bed or other placements you can think of.
Some folks on YouTube have posted about it before.
Can we get more options for housing exteriors, please?
http://www.devisualdesigns.com/beta/japanese_castle.png
We have very limited options when it comes to Exterior Housing designs. At some point, I'd like to see one in the same style as a Japanese Castle. Could call it a Doman Castle Exterior to fit the lore, even.
I figure if Nintendo was able to do it in Animal Crossing, then the Dev Team should be able to do it in FFXIV, after all.
I'd like to be able to visit my friend's houses more frequently. Can the Dev Team see about instituting a customizable Favorites List of Housing Plots that will allow players to directly teleport to a Friend / FC house's direct location (provided they have a Mini Aetheryte set up on their yard somewhere, of course)?
It's very frustrating, cumbersome, and needlessly consumes Gil to use the very roundabout way of first teleporting to Citystates and choosing a ward to teleport to. For the sake of ease of access, could you please see about instituting this feature?
Unfortunately they are both floor items and so both only see the floor itself as the object they attach to. I don't think we'll ever have the ability to manipulate everything in the same way they can with non-player manipulated environments, but as DeviFoxx mentioned, there are workarounds for wall & tabletop items to place them elsewhere.
I'm sure it's in here somewhere but can we please have partitions that match the walls?
There are some lovely wall options available but not having matching partitions for any of them makes it really hard when you need to divide a room.
And can we have more rugs, please? And/or can we dye them? It's really hard trying to find a rug that matches sometimes.
I don't think they've ever said it, but I believe it's because the house is an instance and your room is another instance called from that. In most cases neither your room instance or the house instance would exist when you logged back in. So instead of the game trying to create the new instances or find/reconnect you to an existing instances if someone was inside the house/room, it just takes the considerably easier option of dumping you outside the house because the housing ward is essentially a normal zone and not an instance (even though they have multiple wards, they're all separate zones).
Or maybe it's just as simple as as Japanese players prefer to start outside their houses so we do too...
It is probably that yea. I wonder though, if it was a deal big or not to log back into an instance, then why can we logout from inside the Inn room and log back on inside there? I could now rant about fairness or what you want but that's probably a waste of mine and everyones time :p That's just not cool SE, you hear me!?
I don't know for sure/can only guess, but I would imagine it's because houses and rooms are unique, inn rooms are all exactly the same (or at least they're one of 3 designs). Creating the inn room isn't really the same as creating a house or private room and then populating it with all the stuff that person has.
I'm pretty certain that the development team were asked that in the past and they responded along the lines of is that it's to help stabilize the servers and cut down on the amount of processing the server has to do, and that although it could theoretically be changed, they don't want to do anything that would jeopardize the servers (it was in a past 'Letter From the Producer LIVE' Q@A if I remember rightly). I'll try and find it and post the development team's response here.
EDIT: I found it - it was found here (towards the very bottom of the page):
So yeah, sadly it doesn't look like this is going to be changed any time soon, if at all, as much as I would love that to be the case. :(Quote:

Make it so tenants can make a private chamber in a personal home? I think it would be pretty cool.
That would be fun to have. Perhaps as a safety net they could let you purchase an "apartment" when those are released and then tether that to estates you have tenant/FC access to. If something happens to the FC or the house you're a tenant of, your room is just unhooked from the estate, still accessible from the mansion/apartment building thing and there's no loss of 300k gil or obliterated on removal furniture.
I'd also like the door to the private rooms to be moveable.
Is there an option to allow visitors to Private chambers without allowing them to move (and thus steal) furniture?
Yes, but it's not an option. If your room is open nobody can interact with the furniture except you.
We discovered this when one of our FC officers decided to turn his room into a bar/bistro for the FC, we could all enter but we couldn't move furniture, interact with the npc barman or eat the food.
This got me thinking... Can we have gates for our houses? No no, not gates, GATEs...
OK, maybe not something on that level... But lets say there is a piece of furniture from the Gold Saucer, you can place it in your home... Provided you've set it so people can visit, there is a chance that piece of furniture will spawn something, perhaps one per Ward/Subdivision, that when found will reward the player with MGP and spawn somewhere else... Sort of like the Magic Pot that you trade an Elixer to to get the Sun minion, except randomly spawning in peoples houses rather than a fixed location...
MGP seems like the perfect "not too serious" reward to generate interest in housing wards...
Can we get an indoor version of the market board. There's nothing better then staying within reach of the Indoor material seller, retainer bell and the Market board all in the comforts of inside.
Can we get a Hedge Wall outdoor furnishing? One thing I've always wanted to do with my FC yard is make meandering garden paths, but I'm just not able to do that with the current furnishings. The Lattice Planter is nice, but it's not nearly long enough! Please add some long walls for yards!

I'd absolutely love it if I could rotate my house. I just want my mansion to face the gate/entrance of the yard, not the side!
Forgot if I asked for this, but I was thinking it today.
Bring back Scary stuffed Moogle! And more stiched up Stuffed friends. This can be craft able or a Halloween event items. What do you think?! :D

To tack on to Amarante's post, can we get plushies of the moogles from Thornmarch? The King included, yes please. :D
its my hopes that they'll make it so that if you have to go inactive for a long time for whatever reason(s) that your tenants will be able to negate the property reclaim situation.
Ok, as my questions got deleted from the live letter questions, let me repost them here. Can we get a Moogle or Primal set of weathervanes? Or Primal themes for the exterior of the houses? And a Moogle striking dummy since a lot of people now hate Moogles after that long quest chain. And how about a new couch and canopy bed design that is able to be dyed? And can we increase the number of items that we can place in our yards? 30 items is not enough for a small house plot. Thank you for your time!
So many beautiful new items but no space T_T. Can we please upgrade our private houses? Just let us buy more rooms like we can already do in a fc house (but please don't limit it to only one and let us buy more in a fc too).
Advantages: gil sink (maybe 500k for each room), better market for housing items and no need to buy a bigger house because you can just buy more rooms (and you can make each room into a special theme) and no change of the layout of the housing plots is needed.
And a little question: What happened with the feature of roaming minions? The last answer to this was over a year ago U_U. Do you still have plans for that or is all hope lost? (Would be nice to know)
I am addicted to home decor! I love to decorate and I think of different themes and I'd love to have my personal house become a little town with a hospital, restaurants, library, school, bathroom!
However, a friend and I toured a ton of houses randomly, and many houses are nothing more than storing furniture, and it makes me a bit sad.
I believe the idea of more rooms is great, but I see abuse from it...
I am part of a very casual FC, but we have spent some time saving money and want to move to a larger house (size large as opposed to small). Now that more housing will become available in 3.3, we now find ourselves in a quandary. Three major points of concern when moving come to mind.
1.- There are several members of our FC that have been inactive for a couple months, but they are the type that show up when major updates happen. We don't want to kick them from our FC (since being a casual FC we are understanding), but they have furniture in their private rooms and if I understand correctly we can't move until their stuff is gone or they are gone. Is there any chance of implementing either a direct transfer of private rooms from the old house to the new house, or have a 'retainer' of sorts that will keep a hold of any transferable furniture until they next log in and can place it in their private room again?
2.- There is the same sort of problem with the chocobos (if I understand correctly). Is there any chance of getting the chocobo returned to the owner when we move or have them be unavailable until another chocobo stable is on the new plot? (Theoretically having some housing agent keep care of the chocobo until the stable is ready.)
3.- Is there also a chance of getting an additional retainer or FC chest whose sole purpose is to move furniture from one plot/house to the other plot/house (maybe by making them available only for the 24 hours the house was first purchased)? Inventory in this game has always been an issue for some of us crafting types. Trying to move too is just troublesome.
Those are the three main points my casual FC wanted me to cover/post on this forum. Part of our perk as a FC is to cater to some of those that can't always play every month. With the housing market being what it is, plots of land will sell out quick. Any chance of getting some of these ideas done?
There's been no real info on moving atm, but they said they were looking into implementing something for moving houses after 3.4 (estimated using patch release averages as being after september). So until then you can obliterate the fc house, have some furniture/all rooms/all airships destroyed and have everyone pay another 300k per room at the new house. Another option is to make a 2nd FC, rank it up to 6 before the patch and buy the large house with that FC, then gradually let people switch over. This still requires them to pay another 300k to switch over and destroys furniture that can't be removed, but it gives them time.
Well if they make it 500k a room than it would be quite the expensive storage ;). I also only use my fc room as a storage because the space in a small house is already limited and my retainers are already full with other glamour. I dont want to throw away all the event housing items because they are quite costly at the market board so I use that room to store them. So for me if we could buy more rooms I could use all of those items again, maybe making a room with a christmas theme or a spring theme. I dont really see any reason for abuse, especially since the people own these houses and if they want to use it like that than they should be able too. :) But for all the other people it would be a good improvement (imo).
A tree with a usable swing and a swing bench for outdoors would be fun. For either indoors/outdoors some usable rocking chairs would be great to have too.
Could we get a replica of the relief that was put in Falcon's Nest? Perhaps as a Main Story reward?
