To be fair theres only 45 plots so not everyone can have them anyway, make them cheaper and players will be buying their own plots on alts.

so why not make it tomes instead of gil for housing? it would cut rmt out, and ensure that the FC's that grind the hardest get the best houses

After such a horrible explanation the Japanese feed exploded. It was quite the waste of time (especially listening to 1 hour of them reading PvP abilities word for word.) (^_^)

I don't often say this so bluntly but Yoshi's explanation was idiotic. So much fail.

What makes this just as bad is if they see these as reasonable prices for housing what will the price be when individual houses come out? And yes its understood it won't be out for six months but then if my choice is to save as much gill for my private house I'm guaranteed to get enjoyment out of versus a guild house I may get enjoyment out of I'll choose the personal house especially with these types of prices it may take those six months just to be able to buy it.

They will base the personal house prices on how much gil individual players earn on average, I assume, since they're tracking all that stuff already. Hopefully it won't be another 'wait 3 months after this patch to be able to save enough for one' thing again.

FFXI we had a mog house/room. Anyone that had played knows what i'm talking about. I would rather have an instanced one room place that i can decorate, invite friends/FC members inside all for the price for what..free? Id be happy just to have this as an option. FFXIV housing is more complex, so to pay for something like this is fine but at the prices shown even if the land devalues its still not reasonable for most players. People have different playtimes, some can game for hours upon hours everyday garnering them more money while others with smaller playtimes do not have the luxury. Come up with a different solution that doesn't discriminate regular and legacy players/servers. Rich or poor id prefer lower flat rates for all players. With individual housing coming in 5-6 months why even bother getting a FC house in the first place? It will probably take me and other members 5-6 months just to save up for our own personal ones with all the fixings and furniture costs to look foward to.

On a non-Legacy server, not doing any leves, not doing any dungeon, not doing much really, I was able to make 8 million in the space of 2 months, on my own. Some people are saying 700k is the best they can expect of them as casual players. Well, they must be casual 1 day a week 2 hours a week people, or never even TRIED to make money. Because it's easy to exceed 50k/day without doing much or having skills leveled, or playing Wall Street with the market (something I hate doing, and so don't do).

You can very very easily buy the small FC house on your own if you're dedicated. And people saying they have 10-15 people FC and "OMG the house is too small for 15 people".

You guys
1) all login at the same time
2) all go to the house for the duration of your online time
Because otherwise your complaint makes zero sense

Because in my 95 person FC, most people I got on at once is 30. And with housing, I wouldn't expect them all in the actual house at the same time (except maybe at first, to go see it). And I think a medium house would be fine for my amount of online members at once. I only want large because I always want the best, but I can put my money where my mouth is and finance it. I intend to finance 1/4th of the 50-62.5 million gil cost of the large house, within 3 months, on my own. I don't expect more than 15 other contributors, at the massive contribution of 33k/day for 3 months. And it would be enough.

I don't expect a complete market crash like some do. In the real world, lots of people want to save up for a car, for a house, to buy a boat, or what have you...and guess what, they still spend beyond basic rent and food stuff. They buy their ipads, their Nintendo DS, their PlayStation Vita and their Xbox One. They eat fancy foods, take out and eat out sometimes too. They sometimes buy brand names for clothing, shoes, handbags or schoolbags. In short, they make the economy go round by spending - even as they want to save up money. Because they don't intend to live like hermits for 3+ months just to save a tiny bit faster. Even people on welfare do this kind of shit, just more frugally (they hit the limit much faster than middle class). Yes, even people living paycheck to paycheck, eating Kraft Dinner and No Name brands will sometimes splurge on something that isn't 100% essential, even if they should, in some utopian society, save every penny for harder days.

So, yeah, in an economy like FF14's where people don't even see the point of keeping gil in the first place (see people saying they had 50k after 3 months), I don't think people are suddenly going to stop spending to hoard gil just for their FC. People will keep spending buying what they used to. Food will become a lot more tempting now that it lasts beyond death, and not everyone even WANTS to level Culinarian. Also, the same people who say the economy is going to freeze because people will all hoard gil, are also those who claim they don't trust their FC leader to not run away with the money or disband within 2 weeks, so will never give them money. Funny that.

Like for most goods and services: It's convenient, it saves time.

Wanna farm your own 99x Deviled eggs? Be my guest. But most people don't have the patience to (provided they even have a Culinarian lv 50), and many will simply buy them on market, essentially "selling their time in exchange for my labor". That's how economy should work in theory.

Not all 100% of the playerbase is interested in housing. I'd guess a decent portion of the PvPers won't give a crap. You could try selling to them (consumables, since they'll be buying their actual gear off vendors, gg crafters), but if they don't have gil income (in my experience, PvPers usually can't be bothered doing dailies as not killing other players = borefest) then they won't be able to buy your stuff at any decent price anyway.


In any case, it looks like anybody on a Legacy server that isn't absolutely loaded from 1.0 would be better served to reroll on one of the cheap worlds. Probably faster to relevel and regear your classes and farm far less gil than to stay on a Legacy server. What's absurd is that some people will probably do just that.

There was clearly a disconnect somewhere. Rather than looking how much the average player had available they apparently balanced around the 1%, somehow assuming that 1% would be willing to bankroll the server's housing desires. They have millions upon millions of gil because they like having it. Not because they like spending it.
