Yes, this should be the new wave, fat bunnies for 6.0! Screw more skinny options!

Yeah, the flaws being their proportions. I think if elezen looked more like the high elves from tera online, they'd be more popular.
Since female viera looked like a better proportioned female elezen, I'm sure male viera would be designed in a similar way. Basically, male viera would be a better proportioned male elezen. I think this is probably the most likely outcome, if we get male viera at all, and it's also the outcome I'm hoping for. Aside from fixing the proportions, I'd like to see a little less bulk on the biceps, and it would be perfect in my opinion.
Elezen men are quite well-built, thankfully, so I think that will be reflected in viera men too. Urianger has biceps that are pretty beefy and a muscle slider would be a good compromise to appeal to a broader variety of players.
It seems like female viera are a little shorter and smaller than female elezen. (I think female viera has less broad shoulders, but it could be that elezen heads are just too small) It's likely that male viera will also be a little shorter and smaller than male elezen. Elezen are well-built, which is why I'd like to see male viera biceps just a tad smaller. I don't think there will be a muscle slider, as that slider slot will probably be used up by an ear slider.
As adorable as the imagery is, and as much as I'd love it for body diversity, (I mentioned support of this in another thread) I think if we do somehow end up getting a fat/chubby body type, I don't think a Male Viera would be the right fit.
As unlikely as it would be to get another race, I think it would do better on the Bangaa, the Seeq, and the Nou mo (I'm sure I botched the spelling)
Yes, yes we do. I think all the male characters aside from lalafell are pretty well built personally. Including miqo'te, hyur, and elezen.
Although elezen is tall, so it kinda gives the illusion of being slim, too.
So I definitely think we could use a more slender character. I wish elezen could be that character, but they are the least played for a reason.
When it comes to character customization, I'm all about diversity. I know some people would argue against having diversity for the sake of diversity, and while I can agree with that sentiment in certain facets of life, I don't agree when it comes to character customization. There should be a variety of choices for players. This includes having a beast race like hrothgar.
I support the addition of hrothgar, and after thinking it over, I think it was a good call to add both female viera and male hrothgar. We lacked a tall and graceful/elegant female character that looked good and had proper proportions - female viera filled the niche female elezen failed at. We lacked a beast-race in this game - male hrothgar filled that void.
I do have some concerns with how hrothgar was implemented - the hair being tied to the face and all. It was for this very reason I began to think male viera would have been the better choice instead of hrothgar. But what's done is done. I was never against having a beast race. There was a demand for it, and it fills a niche. I just don't like the hair being tied to the face.
I really don't like tera's character creation in general, tbh. All of the races there look bad in some way (don't even get me started on elin). That being said, I think if you were to cross their high elves with castanics, it'd be a male viera that most people could get along with and get a preferred vibe with depending on face (+feature) options.
I kinda like the castanics, though that's how I think Au Ras should've been /shrug
Some of the Light Armor options and hairstyles may have given Tera's male High Elves a somewhat 'feminine' appearance (but then again, everyone was kinda half-naked in that game), but overall they were a pretty good take on High Elves I think. Especially in a bit heavier armor like Elleon wore, although I think he had a custom model.
I'd be happy if they made them somewhere between male Elezen and male Highlanders or Au ra. With their higher texture models, the muscularity would shine through better than it currently does on Elezen.
I think they ought to find a way to make muscle tone sliders work on other races. These kind of limitations are rather unfortunate in a game in a competitive market...
I tend to agree that it's the best of its type when it comes to MMOs currently available - although bear in mind those games still have high enough playerbases themselves to remain afloat in the market, including people who tried this game and don't like it. However, it is not just competing for consumer money and time against other MMOs, but against other games, and even other uses for that money. It's a bad idea to grow complacent in such an environment. They seem to be re-investing in the game, but I'll reserve judgement until 6.0 to see how much that can accomplish.
One thing to note is that Dissidia NT was recently discontinued -it'll still be around, though in maintenance mode and with no new updates. I'm hoping that it's a sign that Square Enix intend to put more focus on their meatier projects that have guaranteed success; translating to more funding and manpower directed at FFXIV.
And it's a damn shame for the Dissidia series because it was a good concept and had a good story overall. NT just screwed it all up with forced 3v3 in all content and focus on clunky always online PvP with PSN's paper servers slowing the match down to a crawl and not knowing if your attack actually hit or not. It's incredible how the MOBILE version ends up being the better game with a party-based RPG-styled gameplay and an actual campaign mode.
*huff huff*
But yeah, SE's made some questionable gambles with games before, like XV's incredibly troubled development and eventual cancelled DLCs, time to show XIV some love.
i mean i thought it was pretty obvious all of the money was being funneled out to help soften ff7r's protracted dev cycle
and i recall something just like this happening to help fund ff15's dlcs
It's really too bad. Some of them have decent combat, and decent character creators. However, they lock everything behind a grind, paywalled progression, and fashion largely locked behind the cash shop as well. FFXIV I can earn all of my outfits in-game, and yeah sure there is a cash shop, but I see it more of a bonus than anything. "Free to play" has always been a joke, even with western developers though. If you ever want to play those games seriously, even if you can "earn everything" it ends up being a horrendous grind at best, or costing more than a subscription based game like FFXIV - with sparse updates to anything but the cash shop. I usually won't touch a free to play game. SWTOR was the only one I even played seriously, for a time (back in 2014), and I treated that game as more of a subscription game.
Male Viera should be this, should be that. You guys still go on with your own selfish desires? One or the other will get pretty crushed in that regard.
Maybe it's time to let Matsuno-San and the dev team decide how they would like to create these Vieras and female Hrothgars.
We are talking about creativity, so maybe stop putting so much hope into something. You'll get salty.
I mean, if they're big stocky viera with dad bods, or if they look like big hulky body builders, no.
But if they look similar to the concept art, then of course. In the concept art that shows three variants of male viera, I prefer the male viera furthest to the left.
lol k
Anyway, I've got a big what if, but what if the head gear and hair is coming out a little slow because the dev team is fitting them for male viera/female hrothgar as well? Since it's more work load, it could be the reason why. This is just a big what if, though.
I'm also hoping that Matsuno is in charge of their design. He tends to favour character designs that revolve around good looking men with athletic physiques.
Personally, As long as they're not skinny af, i'll fantasia regardless... Male viera through what little is described from the npc in the ivalice raid series.. are powerful and strong protectors of the woods, it would make sense their bodies matched, I wouldn't be surprised if they were lithe but had obvious muscle mass, similar to the concept art we got shown back when HW was being worked on.
I would switch in a heartbeat if they make male virea like Myr from Radiant, just strap some bunny ears on that mofo. Short, chubby, and a lot of hair. My ideal character type. The mans women towers off him, and he protects a forest and his children, seems lore fitting give or take a few elements.

Or maybe people can simply voice their opinions on how they want their perfect race to be (as long as its civil) and not care if it will happen or not?
This thread is here (and active) to show SE that there is demand. How they do it is completely in their own hand.
