Machinist needs help.

Job is pretty much complete at 82 IMO. I'm leveling it and I find myself using the Shotgun in even ST rotations if I'm 10 or 20 heat off from a Hypercharge so I can do my 9 hit wonders more.

I can't say Flamethrower is ever impactful if it's more beneficial to use Scatter for heat or Crossbow for damage IMO. Just feels bad unless you pair it with Bioblaster and even then Scatter/Crossbow would be better.

The way I would love to fix current MCH without changing too much is:

1. Make Wildfire an Auto Direct Crit. (may need to lower potency a little.)
2. Hypercharge gets the charges system of every other cd. make it 30sec. It unlocks heat blast/auto crossbow. if you don't want people sitting on charges you can do the same thing with warrior where using any weapon skill consumes a charge.
3. Make Wildfire a stacking buff. Each time you hit with a weapon skill it removes/adds a buff until it hits cap/runs out and then explodes!

Wishlist:
-Make wildfire aoe with damage falloff.

Thats my thoughts from having played it at 90 for a bit now.

Since it can't direct crit, I don't see the difference.
What is the difference between an ability that never crit but does 10.000 damage and an ability that always crit and does 10.000 damage?
If Wildfire critting would also means it scales on the critical hit stat, then it's a neat idea. Otherwise, it would be visual.

Hypercharge on a stack system is expected (as long as the dev listen to this feedback), but I believe wildfire also on a stack system would be amazing.
Simply put: It would explode at the same time you land your last GCD, while it's not much, you can save a second or a whole oGCD window.
While not often, it can happen to try fitting a very last wildfire before the boss HP are reduced to 0.

Wildfire with a aoe falloff and Queen with a aoe falloff are both popular feedback. Especially wildfire, I know this feedback exist since HW MCH.

Even if wildfire was a 100% crit dh, mch would still not be top in rdps. But as a "finisher" it should do more damage than a rea drill3.

Imagine if wildfire being on charges or aoe is asked since heavensward. Imagine if people are asking for an aoe battery spender since shb. Imagine if flamethrower have been asked to get changed since shb too. Imagine if turret was just a glorified dot and we asked for changes since shb as even the old SB one was putting vulne, you had to destroy it yourself to do the finisher AND keep track of the timer to resummon it. etc etc. Can go for long.

Like at that point, we can't do more than that. Devs feeling are hurt, but imagine ours that played the job since HW, had it totally changed for people not actually playing the job and feedback being basically useless as all the thing propose here have anyway been proposed 1000x time over the course of 6 years.

my primary reasoning for the Auto Direct Crit is to create increased synergy between Stats/Kit as well as the nice visual feedback of "hey, you pulled off the hardest part of your kit correctly!"

IMO, the aoe battery spender would've been fine if the Queen finisher was AoE.
The problem with gauge spender/shared cooldown is that they are meaningless choice.
3+ target? Press red button. 1 Target? Press blue button. In raiding situation, it makes a button useless. Bio Blaster is set to CTRL + 2 in my case, that shortcut is never pressed when I'm raiding.
In other words, it's button bloat.

You can make it AoE per default, look at Chain saws. No one asks for a single target version of chain saws.
No one asks for a single target version of Double Down, because they works very well on both multi and single targets.

As for "hardest part of your kit correctly"... Wildfire is by far the least difficult part of the job. Respecting Drill and Air Anchor are where the difficulty relies, the more you manage to fit, the bigger the reward.
Wildfire on the other hand is just an empowered Hypercharge phase. You press it, then you follow by one Hypercharge phase like many other you do during the rotation, except you need to press wildfire before. What a gameplay.

Out of interest looked at FF logs.
Noticed highest ranked MCH with 98.3% avg. parse. And his/her top parses are around 7.6k - 7.7k.
Top parses for bosses are around 8.9k - 9.1k. Now tell me that isn't way too large of a gap.

Had a random idea what if flamethrower would work like bio-blaster but instead of dot it applies vulnerability to targets around 5-10% for 10 sec.

So I was think more about Flamethrower while leveling up DNC. I liken it to Improvisation and while there isn't anything wrong with an ability that requires you to stand still up build something up, the payoff must weighed with the risk/time.

For example, what if Flamethrower built up stacks of damage taken debuff, 1 stack every 2.5s for a total of 4.

Flamethrower should just become a bioblaster clone but its a heat spender and we just get a single target heat spender thats like a rocket launcher
