Your thoughts on Astrolgian so far?

a support class has to actually bring support to a party.

Again, show me the AST support skills that justify their lack of healing.
It ccertainly arent the cards that on a good luck day are equal to 1 selene skill.

Think of AST as a burst buffer, while SCH is more of a sustained buffer. AST can sit on cards, RR them for maximum benefit, and apply them for whatever check is at hand. SCH on the other hand just manages the upkeep of its buffs. I can't refute your point entirely, AST is subject to too much RNG, but they do have the potential to sway encounters. I'd just like to see them have more potential sway.

People have been saying AST is a fancy class with high skill level required for high reward. But so far I could only see the skill level part, and I highly doubt the reward part...

lvl58 AST now. Healed approximately 10 runs of Vault yesterday. My thoughts so far:

1. The problem of REALLY WEAK buff still remains. Every time I RR'ed an AOE balance/arrow, it reminds me that as a buffer, my dmg buff can't even out-buff Selene..

2. I used whm stance, and I had NO PROBLEM healing the party. My ilvl is 140, even in tough situations (PLD did a triple pull including 2 iron giants that does high aoe dmg/ mutilple death on the final boss) I still managed to heal through it, but the whole mana pool drained. So the healing potential of AST still needs to be explored in harder content.

3. I took LIGHTSPEED completely off my hotbar, I have tried using this "buff" a couple of times, but it didn't really help with ANYTHING in ANY SITUATION. I will probably put it back one day when SE decide to buff this skill, or one day I'm confident enough with AST to use this "fancy" skill just for showing off..

4. I uses every card except SPEAR. Even when I ran stuff with my static mates, I still had a hard time trying to find that buff useful. I DON'T even RR that card, because the aoe effect reduces way too much buff potency, and the radius is TERRIBLY SMALL.

Lol so you're saying that AST support role relies on royal roading cards/drawing until you get the right one ? And if you don't ever get the right one at the right time ? Oh yeah... you're basically a weight that your party have to carry. On the other hand, just take a WHM and a SCH and you have no things such as randomness for not so great buffs.

Buff AST potency/reworkd its cd/buff its cards.

One of the three can be enough... they just have to do something.

I almost never see selene being used in serious content until it becomes farmable. So pleeeease stfu about Selene's haste, as in the content we are talking about, you would have eos out. It is very obvious this discussion is lacked full of casuals. Also all the people that arnt even 50 yet just stop talking, it means nothing under 50 with you i40 gear.

I only use Lightspeed for a big fast heal, then i manually erase the buff, but meh. I am a bit sad because i'm thinking to go back to my SCH because i find AST not enough rewarding on support job or healing. SCH has a power support skills with low CD and 0% RNG, powerfull shields and a long etc...

So basically a lot of ppl are to lazy and not up for the challenge ast provides. I've seen mayn AST's in Heavensward and they where all really good. You should talk about it when you hit 60.

After reading all the replies in this thread and a few other ones I feel bad for my healer brothers who have wasted time leveling a sub-par healer too 60 and are now trying to defend the new class with justifications of being a "support" job when in fact they are just a sub-par job with a lack of decent healing cool downs and rng buffs that arnt that great and propably won't be up when needed. I truly am sorry for your loss and feel bad for the fate/dungeon grind you have ahead of you while leveling one of the good healing jobs. If you need someone to talk to for support please don't hesitate to send me a /tell in game

Dragoon is a support too i guess then ? He buffs BRD and MCH damage and can give 15% crit to everyone.

With the way it is set up, it's more of a Support job with healing capabilities lol but the thing is, the support is too RNG and the heals aren't that swell.


WHM: Burst Healer.
SCH: Mitigation Healer.
AST: Support Healer(?)

They need to fix it where the cards play more with us.
We need more interaction with them.
