This could be turned around the other way as well.. you have no proof that they they're a perfectly honest and trustworthy company. You have no reason to say that people are over exaggerating.
It's never safe to assume anything.

Pics or it didn't happen? Check out what Raist from the XI forums dug up about C&B:

Oooooo He got you there
I'm sorry, I'm unsure what that has to do with what I said.
I was talking about making assumptions about things, and Kailea_Nagisa's instant judgments on people's claims.
What were you getting at? I'm just confused because it has nothing to do with what I was talking about and you quoted me.
Steam has options:
- Direct Credit / Debit Card
- PayPal
- Click and Buy
- WebMoney
- iDeal
- PaySafeCard
- Moneybookers
- Sofortüberweisung / DIRECTebanking.com
- Wallet / In Game Transactions
The problem with SE is the lack of options (trusted or otherwise). There is two for most people C&B or third party game card. Then there is people with only one option available to them. There is also some who currently have no way of paying at all do to either the third party payment option rules or their local governments rules against said payments (such as crysta(virtual money) is banned from some areas).
The lease SE can do is make our payment option the same as the Japanese. Every business company wanna make payment from customer as easy and convenient as possible. It is apparently not the case for SE...
Click and Buy has a shady feel to it in my opinion. In today's mmo enviroment protecting your credit card info as well as your character and in game wealth is certainly a top priority. When I bought my CE copy and was going through the steps to install it the payment method caught me by surprise. (one of those "what the hell is this?" moments)
FFXIV is working hard to rise from the ashes of its horrible release. I see this payment method as another possible deterrent to bringing players back. That's just my 2 gil.
Having a third-party Credit Card payment gateway that is dedicated to FFXIV and fully integrated with its website rather than being tied up with a major corporation claiming versatility, security (*snortlaugh*) and a need to go through seperate processes would probably alleviate the problem even if C&B is not gotten rid of.
Such a company would, when you call them for customer service, be able to say they're with SE even though they aren't themselves SE, because they are then providing an SE-specific service rather than attaching their own generic service to SE as a payment option (which is what C&B is doing). Thus you get a simple and "direct pay" appearence/convenience without SE actually having to take full responsibility for data security or processing and such.
There are half a dozen options I could easily find here in Australia alone. A lot of companies here use such setups including events and *gasp* online stores. Imagine then how many would exist in the US - it shouldn't be that hard to find one.
Really, each major region needs such a gateway. (And no, I'm not including Australia as a major region because I'm used to it not being one - international transaction fees are a fact of life I'm used to here anyway. Would be nice though...)
Click&Buy has been known to cause people loss of money at random times for no reason they would start getting charged after trying to deactivate a character amongst other problems. You could look them up on google. Now Crysta is semi fair as I see it, even though we only pay 13$ a month or 12$, most MMOs cost 15$. So I think of it like playing another MMO and after so many months of paying you get one free. Technically its not its just a cumulative of the money that hasn't been spent but I am fine with that. Also I am sure they are going to add other thing you can buy stuff with your Crysta down the road.
