Does look Soot Black and nothing forces him to reveal anything - especially since who cares if people on the internet believe him?
From Lavender Blue, I fed 10 more darken blue, 7/10 of them gave the growing new feathers message and I got Othard Blue.
Any ideas how to go from Othard Blue to Peacock Blue? I am unsure whether to lighten blue or deepen green to get there...cause I don't know if lightening blue will just do the opposite of deepen blue and bring me back to Lavender Purple..

As requested more uploaded picture.
Sorry for bad picture quality on the first post.
I cant say what exactly I feed, I feed lots of fruit and combination. I first had a brown chocobo, 2nd time a dark green, 3rd a dark purple and now this one.
I am happy I finally managed it. Wish you good luck guys!
Well yeah, it looks black but in a dark setting Ink Bue, Charcoal Grey, even a dark purple would look black. He's probably doing it to get some attention :P
Even with the extra photos, I'm willing to bet he's got an Ink Blue.
Until I see the Chocobo menu that's what I'm going with, anyway @_@
and yet you still didn't post a picture of the companion tab.
My Turquoise Green choco :D

Can anyone with a Turquoise green or Hunter green take a screenshot in daylight please with no barding? I can't decide if I wanna stay on Apple Green or not.
It might be an Ink Blue, which looks like a very dark black and in a dark picture like that Ink blue is so close to black, it would come off black. If it is a true black that would be cool, but atm I know we can get soot black, which is more a dark grey-ish.
A few people in my FC are thinking of going Ink Blue because they want a chocobo that looks black. This guy has a (or did have a) ink blue, looks similar:
I agree, in the dark picture it's a close up, looks back. But when it's out in the sun light all the pictures are far off distance. Its very hard to see if it's an actual BLACK or an ink blue. if they were close up in the light we would be able to tell.
I ended up with a Honey Yellow Choco But I wanted Lotus pink is there any way i can get Lotus Pink from Honey Yellow?
I have Ink Blue and I think what was posted is in fact Ink Blue. I hope it's not and that we finally have a confirmed Soot Black. Soot Black normally looks a bit more washed out, however, the Charcoal Gray choco that someone posted looked a lot darker than the Charcoal Grey I would expect so maybe Soot Black really is black black.
Took the confirmed Ink Blue image and his 'black' chocobo into Photoshop and compared them, both images (of course thee will be some difference because of type of picture, light etc...) fall within a dark blue on the RGB hex coding scale, not a black.
I'm pretty certain it is a Ink Blue, not a true "Black", unless he can put up a shot saying that it is black from the companion menu I'm going with Ink Blue.
And I want to note, I'm not saying this to be rude, mean or doubtful. Everyone is trying to get a color that they really want, and if people believe there is a black because if his post, and it turns out to be false information, people might be wasting time, gil and food trying to achieve the impossible due to a false advertisement.
If it is a true black he would have no issues showing us a screenshot of the companion menu, doesn't even have to say HOW he got it, just show it is black.

Both look ink blue to me...
these numbers are only the ones that gave me the plumes are changing prompt
1st feeding : +6 darken green = cream yellow
2nd feeding : +2 darken green = Honey yellow
3rd feeding : 6 darken red, 2 darken blue = coeurl yellow
4th feeding : 8 darken red, 10 darken blue = blood red
i want dalamud red but not sure what to feed now..
Yeah, that very last picture that was compared side by side is why I think it's Ink Blue. There's a slight blueish hue to it. Soot Black does not look like any sort of blue whatsoever.
In terms of obtaining Ink Blue, I don't have exact counts. Feeding lots of Berries and moderate amount of pears/apples got me to from Abyssal > Midnight > Ink. Less berries towards to end to lower the blue hue.
I hope you guys realize that black will always have blue in it.
He was quick to follow up with additional pictures but not the companion UI and now he's gone quiet. I want it to be true so we can finally get a confirmation that this color is attainable, but I'm having my doubts on this one. Hopefully I'm wrong.

That's "black" is definitely blue. Black should still look black on a sunny day not blue

Any idea how to turn this to sky/ice blue?
I was attempting to get "Slate Grey" from that google document that was floating around, and ended up with plum purple.
Any suggestions on what I should feed to try to get back to the original color I was aiming for? Or perhaps or any other grey color? Or black? Or ink blue? Anything except plum purple. :(

Pretty sure my next feed will get me soot black. Will return with results if it does.
Good luck
2 different fruits turned my Midnight blue to Kobold brown (and back to midnight blue twice)
Annoying to get back.
So I've been toying around with some people's theories on chocobo dyeing and I fully support the:
Apple +R -G -B
Pear -R +G -B
Berries -R -G +B
Plum -R +G +B
Valfruit +R -G +B
Pineapple +R +G -B
I've also realized one VERY important detail while dyeing my own chocobo. I think whatever color you give them FIRST directly impacts what color they change to the most.
Another post I read mentioned something about Primary and Secondary colors and I think that's a whole lot of true.
I fed my chocobo 1 berry > 1 apple and 4 pears from Plum Purple, had NO messages and he did not change color this morning. I then fed him the EXACT same fruit this morning in a different order: 4 pear > 1 berry > 1 apple and got feather changing messages EACH time I fed him.
This is all just my observations of course!
Anyone gone from Coral Pink to Dalamud or Rolanberry Red? If so, can you share your fruits?
