Why do people want Blue Mage in this game?

Yeah, the are called Dragonborn's and they go Fus > Ro > Dah as their basic rotation.

That's you lol, not me. You ask for variation, but you are unable to think of something that would fit Tank role.
You act like a spoiled little princess that want a puppy and listens to no one.
Tank is a tank in a world of FF. Heavy armor and Heavy hitting weapon. No whips, handbags or paper fans.

There is no logical explanation why mage would take dmg on himself and call it a day.
While we play illogical game, the lore is logical, as well as cutscenes and world inside FF.
During cutscenes Things die by single arrows, and this kind of "lore reality" inside the game should be kept.

For the sake of the plot.

More like heavy armor and a butter knife if you ask me.

Looks like not only I remember 2.0 and PLD glorious knives as main arms. thnx god ninja dragon entrance made SE fix that.

Now swords look solid. And they are out of steel or this steel-covered-wood-cored type of weapons.

But still better love story than whips or whatever-rdm-is-gonna-use-as-main-arm.

Ok, do these have cast times? If not my point still stands. Full movement, which I'm sure the Bards in your party will certainly appreciate, will guarantee safety. If they do have cast times then that opens a whole other can of worms. The delay between pet commands is already a sticky issue and you want to do an entire rotation through it?

If it gets hit, does it take full damage or more of a system we have now where they take minimised damage? If they take full damage then good luck keeping a summon out for more that 5 seconds on fights like Midgardsormr, Odin or Sephirot with your Dps being awful or just generally being a micromanagement nightmare. If it's more of a system we have now then the summoner is still 80% safe at the back of the party.

Well. According to you any kind of change at all is blasphemy. Personally I adore the idea of red mage as a tank, but people will find a reason to complain, the same way people complain about dark knight being a tank, despite the fact it's always been tanky.

Except it hasn't. Jesus, how can anybody call something tanky when it revolves around sacrificing HP to deal even more damage? Just because it used armor not unlike DRG? My, my. Always been tanky.
