So my initial fears got confirmed. With the two stances the AST switch between:
- Pure Healer Style (WHM)
and
- Barrier Healer Style (SCH without fairy)
I was really hoping for a more unique third healer class.

Stance dance is unique. You can adapt to various phases of the fight. Whm and sch are fixed on that point.
In an earlier intervie Yoshida said, there will be a long cooldown or something similar for stance change, because the AST would be OP, if you could do stance dance.
Even if have a cd like swiftcast, it always is something. Slow dance then ;)
I think it might. They have mentioned a heavy focus on MP for the DRK.
The more I check out that video the more excited I am for AST to be added. Though I feel bad for SCH, their changes don't seem to be that great or exciting. But this is just going off what info we have right now.
If you look closely at one of the Astrologian offensive spells, it inflicts a paralysis/stun effect (you can see the Ebst with some jagged lines around it)
I watched the video for AST, and the more I watch less desirable its becoming to me.
Its sad AST is just a WHM/SCH hybrid.
Can't wait for new SCH 3.0, so excited
Good observations. That's one I missed. Looking closely at the video it looks like the stun effect is applied by the last offensive action used. Watching that particular action has left me perplexed as it doesn't have a normal casting animation, but it also seemed slow for an instant ability. It's makes me think what we're seeing are two different actions used quickly back to back.
While this could be considered wild speculation, what it looks like is the Astrologian uses their own version of Swiftcast, followed by an off cooldown stun action (certain abilities like Fluid Aura won't expend the buff), then finishes with an AoE spell that casts instantly. It's entirely possible that the last spell used is instant by default and we'll never know until we see the details first hand, but having their own Swiftcast isn't at all an unrealistic possibility.
AST doesn't feel unique with the stance dancing stuff and all :(
feels very generic so far but let's wait until we can actually test it =)
