To be fair, that could also mean that crafters can make special 'template' items. Fancy looking gear with no stats that are specifically for the glamour system(maybe replicas of unique dungeon sets). If I had to guess though, it'll be a bit of both.

From my understanding, Glamour Crystals are crafted (ilevel restrictions on them, so there will be level 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50s variations for example).
If I remember correctly, they said that once a glamour has copied an armour's look, it's now bound to character -- so crafters can only sell the generic crystals.
Expect them to cost no more than the crafted dyes, and to be about as profitable. (Which is to say, not much at all)
From what I understood, I can use all pieces of gear? Even those for Gatherers and Crafters, it just has to have the right iLvl?
If so: Yaaaay, Pirate Set, here I come! \o/
HUGE Edit:
..... I misunderstood it.... ;_; /cry /disappointed
As long as your job could wear it before, you can glamour to it.
Most of the old / leveling stuff isn't very restrictive, you should be able to look like a pirate easily, except maybe on crafters and gatherers.
That's also my understanding of the system.
And indeed, I can't find the quote as I am typing from my phone at the moment but Yoshi did mention it would be cheap.
Some of the items I want to use, or those which have the same appearance, are tagged as "All classes". Maybe it will work this way? :0
Aye, all classes should/will work. It would even work on crafters or gatheres, as long as the level agrees.
Which means, with the way the rules are described, you can totally make a camise & pantalettes warrior (or caster) at 50. That's totally more acceptable than a caster in plate.
I wonder if they'll let us use old "all jobs" Dated items for the system though. My FC leader still has an entire set of bronze plate mail that is dated and useable by all jobs...
First, I am totally jealous of the half-masks. I find it so weird they're no longer in-game. My alt, Lesha, has a full set of "Wood Warden Lookalike" dated gear that looks amazing, and cannot be reproduced anymore.
I personally only have a few dated items left on Cloe, but I do have a wonderful pair of green low level spectacles. Green sunglasses on everything come 2.2 (I hope!)
When they talk about slots, they do mean the equipment slots "used" by the armor, so like Darklight armor. Odin's armour, the biggest offender, (takes body, gloves, legs and feet slot) can only be glamour'd by an item with equal amount of slots. That said, tincan paladins and warriors can now... put on a cowl with glamour instead. Is that a visual upgrade? Maybe for fans of Assassin's Creed it might.
