we are the test server.

don't even start with you guys anything. i have been against this since day one which is why i catch so many rude responses in general.
i complained about the nerfing of the nm's before the new battle system was put in that made them super easy.
i complained about the removal of the old battle system and replacing it with a less finished system.
i complained about the partial crafting changes done now and the rest completed at a later point.
the problem is they put in partial changes. i would much rather them take the time to actually get the patch corrected. i don't like removal of something to put in the bare bones of another.
i have also fully supported a test server for people to be able to test the changes. if a test server was put in place previous to this patch this would be the first thing people noticed along with the fleece farming issue.
Close this thread?
As I say for every patch after playing myself, there's no way they tested it all, or else they probably would have found it and changed it before WE got to it. OR perhaps it was their intent on making PL'ing that easy, cept too many people complained about it.
Or... Perhaps we're really the ones doing the testing >.>?!
Well, we know they're going break-neck speed and probably cut every corner they can, however, I think in this case the devs simply failed (again) to anticipate player behaviour, perhaps putting too much faith in the assumption that the playerbase as a whole will approach the game the same way the devs themselves would. This despite the fact that they themselves are only a small sample size and represent only one cultural group out of many.
This is why it's always important to align the players' interests with what's good for the game. The PL epidemic was a result of players chasing personal benefit at the cost of the integrity of the game as a whole. People were essentially shooting themselves in the foot, but the dev team was to blame for creating an environment that rewarded such actions, not the players themselves. Players seek to advance in the game the same way a current always takes the path of least resistance, yet some posters foolishly threw around accusations of hypocrisy when players who engaged in PL themselves questioned the legitimacy of the activity.
you can't "afk" PL no more the high lvl can't be in the party
I would be interested to hear how the new PL exp compares to regular party exp, and the broken PL exp per hour.
If it's only slightly greater than a regular party then I won't worry about it at all. Hopefully parties won't all drag along a PL and I can have the kind of group I like. X3 I always got a little upset in FFXI when I was White Mage and some dude came along to steal my job. How rude. :x lol
Or I could make my own group... if only I knew good camps. :x
I wonder how new PLing will work though... Just like XI? Curing from outside party? Or something we haven't considered.
Yep, so not much change since you can just get the bulkiest low level to tag monsters with an aoe attack then high level can aoe them down and party would get full exp! So you can have 7 afk's and 1 in the party tagging and a high level to kill the monsters.
So as i see it, the QQ isn't over yet.
It will work :p.
Considering in this game KS'ing just helps get the person your KS'ing exp faster while you get nothing and in other MMO's the exp is divided by the damage dealt to the target. Claiming it but doing 0 damage means you get no exp and the KS'er gets 0 exp since you claimed it.
I don't think it will work that well actually. Every mob in this game has a ranged attack that will, I believe, hit the person with initial aggro before the PLer can get aggro. So if the low level is tagging too many mobs or ones that are too high level, they'll just get stomped.
I could be wrong, but I certainly think it'll be much harder than before.
Like I said in another thread, I just want to know what the level range is now if I want to level up with some of my lower buddies. I REALLY hope it's not pre-1.19 range where you had to be 5 levels within each other. That sucked donkey balls. It's not like pre 1.19 where as the distance between the levels of the players was greater the sp slowly drops off. It looks like if you're beyond a certain range, SP goes from full SP to ZERO.
All people have to do it bitch enough for a good amount of time and SE will fix that too. Which is a pretty easy fix. I wish they would introduce Level Sync, would make much more sense. I'm neither for or against PL'ing if it doesnt effect me getting groups because people are too lazy to play a game. Which it already had pre-1.19a. Hopefully, even though small, this discourages most people from doing this.
JugdeN: I see you're the respectful sort, do you often act immature about an opinion that is vastly varied on likes/dislikes? May I ask why you play MMO's? Why not play a FPS where there is no level cap? Or why not ask the devs to just make everyone level 50? I'm not sure where you got being "elite" comes from grinding and doing "boring" leve quest from. A lot of the post I see from fifties on this forum, the only thing elite is the immaturity.
Did they? Where's the new evidence that exp rates are still broken?Quote:
If and when SE realizes they dun goofed.
I see your sarcasm detector is busted.
This game has been out a year between the Server side lag, same old guildleve's, lack of guardian favor, and slew of other crap. I'm simply tired of it, I got 50 jobs to way way way way before 1.19 and you know what it wasn't fun. I just want a few abilities to mess around without all the BS. You know what leveling in the game still isn't that fun but at least I could get it over with quickly.
Rates will be the same since the way i said before the High level will be outside the party KS'ing so to speak the claimed monsters.
This way the new patch notes are not considered at all since they would only effect the experience if there was someone high level in a group of lowbies.
Then why not just be happy with what you have? If you are not satisfied with the game itself, or lack of things to do to improve yourself @50. I've been here since Alpha seen the ups and downs, quit during what I call the Leve exploit (due to I hate broken mechanics) and I refuse to play when things aren't to my liking. I wasn't trying to be rude and yes, I've seen plenty of complaining and we know your opinion and of right now, its atleast "kind of" what you want. So be happy :)
The patch notes if read.. say that Exp rates are adjusted when a low level player and high level player are in a party.
To work around this annoyance we just remove the high level person from the party and turn him into a ks'er that way the rates are not effected by the higher level player.
Hopefully I can persevere and get my PGL to 30 today, his pure PL'ed = ).
If you are more than 10 levels below the highest character, you will get ZERO exp. I think thats worse than it was prior to 1.19. At least got some tiny amount. now you get nothing.
Like I said, one extreme to the other.
now the cryers about powerlevelling get to cry about not enough exp with higher levels in party
Do we know yet how well party members stand up to level 45+ monsters before the PL gets hate on them?
If what you say is correct I would think the next issue would be low level party members not getting 1-2 shot killed. I can't imagine them gathering a large group of monsters at all, the way I saw the PL earlier gather a large army of apkallu.
I would think it would go something like this:
Chosen "puller" party member goes to tag a monster much to strong for him, almost dies in 1-2 hits and PL pulls the monster off him OR party member dies and the party is now delayed.
Say he did get the monster, with some difficulty, he's now going to require a heck of a lot of curing, likely to full health before he can claim a second monster and nearly die again. The party member would have to stop to be cured before grabbing another monster.
I would think it would be a one-monster-at-a-time thing, rather than killing a large group quickly.
it would seem to me parties being PL'd would have to fight things closer to their level. Safer monsters.
Does this sound right or am I totally off? I've only witnessed one PL party, so I may be missing something.
I believe how it's supposed to work is like so:
1. Person in party (preferably some sort of tank) links a mess of mobs appropriate for his/her level.
2. High level Powerleveler, who is outside of party, AoE-blasts the gathered mobs.
3. PL gets 0 xp, party gets full rewards.
I find PL'ing at enemy not too high level above the lowbies them much faster as long as the monster is capable of 1-2 shotted. So their is no way the monsters could one shot me.
Yesterday when my PL'd PGL was 24 I was getting 400-600 exp per kill on monster in nanawa mines and those creatures could not one shot me I was able to survive around 4 hits (LV1 Starter Equipment) before it was able to me again is was dead. I aggro'd stuff since I was being stupid.. T.T
PS : I'm sure people would stop getting PL'd once they reach 40 they can just join a normal group to take on encampments, that what I plan to do with my PL'd PGL.
I barely took advantage of PL, most of my jobs were already 36 except CNJ which was about 32 and I was about to start PL my MRD but missed my opportunity.
Principle bro when you pay $85 for a game and you get this, you better play it even if its crappy. Don't get me wrong I hate the leveling aspect of the game, doing rank 50 events with my LS is enjoyable and its why I play but to better myself for events I have to do what I hate "leveling". I often worry about how the leveling will be once they raise the level cap, 200k TNL O YEA GET HYPE !!!!!. We should all be scared very scared.
Yoshi-P doing good work but the leveling aspect of this game needs alot of work still.
