My latest result: Started at Celeste Green and fed 5 Valfruit. First gave just the plumage change in 6 hours then just devour til the fifth where the feathers are growing hit. Result was Corpse Blue.
I tried this and got the following results:
1x Pineapple message (1/3 worked - third succeeded) + x1 Plum message (1/1).
>> Six hour rest. <<
Result was Cream Yellow.
x10 Valfruit message (10/12 - first two no message) + Six Plum (6/6)
>> Six hour rest. <<
Result was Rose Pink.
I followed the guide two people had used for Snow White and didn't get it. So we're seeing a mitiating variable here. Either the timing of rest is pivotal or it's randomness thrown in to frustrate us. Could be that they cap in some way per rest but I just don't know. Any idea what I need for Snow White at this stage?
So here I am with Lavender Purple. . . Started from Cork Brown to Royal Purple To Plum Purple.

Been avidly reading this thread while waiting for our seeds to grow, and I'd like to suggest a bit of a theory, see if anyone can test it out.
UNRESEARCHED THEORY:
1) Each fruit has a set value for increasing or reducing color.
2) However, each possible chocobo "dye color" step includes several levels. That is, different combinations of color-fruits can produce the same "dye color" because the full spectrum of colors is not available
3) The "growing feathers" message is given whenever your feeding results in a "step up" or "step down" in visual dye color, that is, what you SEE on your chocobo. (cont'd below)
Could anyone offer some valuable insight here?
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...o-color-change.
4) But two chocobos can have the same visual color but not the same color in the numbers, and changing them from there can take different steps.
Say you have a green-yellow bird and want a yellow-orange one. You feed him a "red fruit" which unknown to you, has a set value of, say, 5. He turns yellow-orange. Your friend gets excited and does the same thing, but their bird only turns yellow! It's because YOUR bird was green-yellow at value (3) and took 5 steps up to yellow-orange (2), while theirs was green-yellow at value (1) and took 5 steps up to yellow (3). If he feeds his bird again, though, it won't be yellow-orange, it will be at orange (2).
So like this:
------------------------
GREEN-YELLOW 1
GREEN-YELLOW 2
GREEN-YELLOW 3
------------------------
YELLOW 1
YELLOW 2
YELLOW 3
------------------------
YELLOW-ORANGE 1
YELLOW-ORANGE 2
YELLOW-ORANGE 3
------------------------
ORANGE 1
ORANGE 2
ORANGE 3

If I'm on Apple green, what do you guys think I should feed to try and get a deeper green. (Cactuar, Hunter or maybe Turquoise even.) I'd like to get a green close to my characters eye colour. Pears don't work so I'm assuming they are maxed. I've been feeding plums so far. Do I keep on with plums?
yeah my cute white birdie.

Still trying for and looking for Morbol Green/Turquoise info. Or even Nophica Green. :(
Feed my chocobo yesterday with 5 pears and 1 berry - got 2 feather messages on the pears (2nd and 5th) and one on the berry - and he turned to Lime Green:

The one in the back is Apple Green.
After feeding him 5 more pears without a feather message and one apple with feather grow message he went back to Desert Yellow...
Thought I try now if 2 feather grow messages on pears and one on the berries turn him back to Lime Green (feed 4 pears, message on 3rd and 4th) and one berry again). Lets see if he's green again in around 4h.
Edit: And yepp, its Lime Green again.
Someone has posted turquoise. No idea where but there's a screenshot of it way back when (before post #800 I think, but don't quote me).
I expected Snow White when I logged in but actually got Rose Pink and I really like it. Despite that, I think I'll feed him some more plums and hope for my original goal. Will post back in six hours or so and update.

Snow white, i'm happy.
#1 -> 1x pineapple, nothing happened
#2 -> 5x Pineapple, Honey Yellow
#3 -> 10x Doman Plums, 10x Valfruit, 10x Pine Apple -> Bone white
#4 -> 10x Doman Plums, 10x Valfruit -> Snow White
Finally got my Corpse Blue! :D

4 Doman Plums
13 O'Ghomoro Berries
7 Mamook Pears
I fed him this overall - they all gave me the message of "new plume" ^^
Maybe the OP could edit the first post with screenshots of each colour as they come? :3
I wanna see those too. I found a Turquoise one on google. Shame it's a dark pic though.

I'm in a loop
Midnight Blue -> Kobold Brown -> Midnight Blue -> Kobold Brown
All from different fruits each time it went back to a new step :[
Sigh, how do I black?!
So from Ink Blue, I went to Midnight Blue with a Valfruit and Plum.
Ink Blue - 22 26 34
Midnight Blue - 20 21 49
Both those fruits should've done +red, +grn, -blu.... however, it didn't do that at all if it changed to Midnight Blue. Quite the opposite, rather. So maybe it isn't strictly based of RGB number manipulation. Maybe what's happening is that you go down a 'color path' and the deeper you are in one, the harder it is to jump to a new color path altogether? So maybe I'm so deep in to blue that the only way I can hop over to a new color is to first start making my way to a brighter blue and then get myself in to new color range (grays) as I revert closer back to starting point, and from there darken down to black? Not sure. I've seen a few people mention that they have hit grays but I figure by now they would have hit black if this theory is correct...
Current feeding:
Apple - no msg
Pear - feather message
Apple - feather message
I'm hoping that maybe there's some RNG involved in hopping around to a new color palette and that if I continue to tinker around in these darker colors I may get lucky and hop in to Soot Black. With how much red and green I've been doing in the past few sessions I would've thought I would at least hit a dark red or dark green so I'm not sure if this is going to work out. However, at this point, if this next feeding doesn't produce a promising result, I'm just gonna go back to Ink Blue and call it good. Ink Blue is pretty sexxay.

I'm feeding Bucephalus (royal blue... again) 1 apple now to see what happens, will post again in 6hrs.
I fed mine one single Mamook Pear yesterday, only got the message that the color will change in 6h, 2 hours later i fed another 5 Mamook Pears, i didn't pay attention to the Chatlog. I went to bed, woke up, my Chocobo is still Yellow. T_T
This is incorrect. I have changed my chocobo color 4 times now and one food will affect all three color ratios.
I used 5 pears (one feather change) this last attempt and my chocobo went from Peacock Blue R52, G97, B127 to Turquoise Green R60, G107, B107 = +R8, +G10, -B20
+R8, +G10, -B20? 8 10 20 its the key for one feather change?
Started with that. I want Gloom Purple so i tried to deepen the red and lighten the blue
i gave these in my second session:
Cieldalaes Pineapple x5
Xelphatol Apple x3
Turned out Regal Purple

Starting from scratch, 10 Mamook pears gave me the "new plumes" messages. 6 hours later it was Lime Green.
This may be redundant. But I'm currently just using O'Ghomoro Berries. I've been only adding food until a new feathers message appears.
Desert Yellow (starting) +4 OB > Cork Brown
Cork Brown +1 OB > Ul Brown
Ul Brown +3 OB > Gobbiebag Brown
Gobbiebag Brown +1 OB > ??? (currently growing)
I just added three Doma plums (two messages) to the Honey yellow.
Curious now!
I think the color theory is more/or maybe less complex than just comparing the exact RGB numbers. If the colors were arranged on a color wheel chart based on the position of their RGB and then compared on their value and distance between other colors, I believe it would be easier to see in which direction to change the coloring with the corresponding foods.
I wanted a Turquoise Green chocobo to begin with.
My first color change I ended up with Sky Blue because I fed it a lot of plums and had several feather change messages. (I didn't keep track because I was following the 28 berries = Celeste Green). This means I went from the original RGB value of R216, G175 B80 (Desert Yellow) to R124, G171, B207 (Sky Blue) = -R92, -G4, +B127
My second attempt I had no feather messages even though I fed it a lot of food and ended up with no color change.
My third attempt I went from Sky blue to Raptor blue using Berries (1 feather). R124, G171, B207 (Sky Blue) to R84, G120, B188 (Raptor Blue) = -R40, -G51, -B19
My fourth attempt I went from Raptor Blue to Peacock Blue by using Berries (5 feather), Pears (8 feather), and apples (1 feather). (deepen blue, deepen green, deepen red). This means I went from R84, G120, B188 (Raptor Blue) to R52, G97, B127 (Peacock Blue) = -R32, -G23, -B61
My fifth attempt. I knew I was close to Turquoise Green once I landed on Peacock Blue. There was maybe one shade difference and I knew I needed a little more green to push it away from blue. I fed pears until I got one feather message and finally got my Turquoise chocobo. R52, G97, B127 (Peacock Blue) to R60, G107, B107 (Turquoise Green) = +R8, +G10, -B20.
So, from charcoal gray I am trying to get soot black. Last night I fed my chocobo 1 Mamook Pear (got the message), 1 Xelphatol Apple (got the message), and 2 O'Ghomoro Berries (no message for either). I ran out of O'Ghomoro Berries. This morning, there was no change. So now I have fed him 2 O'Ghomoro Berries (got the message), 1 Mamook Pear (got the message), and 2 Xelphatol Apples (got the message). I will report if getting the message on all 3 makes a difference.
I managed to make a Black Chocobo.
See the screenshot :P Good luck everyone~
