You're missing the point.

Knowing to use sneak and invis in XI comes into play *after* you've learned the mob's behavior, whether it's aggressive and what it aggro's to.

You still had to learn those behaviors either from first-hand experience, or through advice from other players, etc. Figuring that out was part of the experience. There wasn't a marker telling you that a mob you'd never seen in the game up to that point was aggressive or neutral. You had to figure that out on your own.

Having indicators showing whether a mob is aggro or not eliminates that aspect and allows the player to skip straight to the "sneak and invis" part.

In the talk of map redesign, battle changes, jobs, new UI, new primal battles, new instanced raids, Item overhaul, stat overhaul, HQ overhaul, Server overhaul and new graphics engine...

I haven't heard anyone talk about how Eorzea will feel more alive
If it has been said, point me to it as I've missed it entirely....
Has there been any talk of adding life to the cities? to the country side?
changing the themes for areas within a zone is great.... but to really make the most of it.... this thread and all of it's ideas need to be take into account
Not just new scenery.... MORE LIFE!!!!!!

I think and hope this subject is strongly implied in the map redesign. 'Living' places are essential.

Hopefully we'll get more information on the liveliness of the new maps and 2.0 in general as things come out in the live letters.
I understand it might be a long time down the road, but hopefully we can revive this thread periodically to make sure it is not forgotten (so many gems in it!). :D

Yea, this was always my favorite thread.
I just read one of the Q&A's with Yoshi... (Shame I can't remember which one. There have just been so many lately)
Anyway, He was asked about the liveliness of NPC's and such.... So I am confident this ideal hasn't been lost amidst all of the change

Add environmental events based on player progression (Summoner quest rainbow anyone?)

It's been a long while since I posted in this thread, 3+ months which in internet time is like another lifetime. So, I forget if it had been brought up before but how do people feel about some of the NPCs roaming around a bit? Nothing quite as drastic as wandering from one side of the city to the other. Just a little movement so it doesn't seem like some prank gone wrong, where someone super glued their feet to the ground and they're just too proud to bring it up to an adventurer for help.

Maybe they could change shifts every 12 hours in-game?

I wouldn't even mind seeing the raging drunk in the Miner's guild, passed out in a corner for a few hours. I can hear his liver crying all the way over in Gridania.

As well as Ifrit's Cauldron on Firesdays or after being defeated (more likely for a volcanic eruption and fire plumes last longer.)

Well they did say that when a primal is summoned by a free company the rest of the server will know. So I think this is something the devs are certainly keeping in mind to make Eorzea feel more alive.
