New Relic weapon quest - are we down to 1 hour content already?

Its perfectly fine if you liked it but lets not try to put people down just because they are not happy with it. Remember that you may too have something you dislike sometimes and surely would not like that complaining about it shows how the forum sucks.

Its great for you that you still had to do Ivalice to even start the relic but a lot of people probably dont have that. Otherwise one could say: Man this relic was awesome, it only was one cutscene but it took one basic game and three expansions to get there, its awesome.

The relic grinds were never good. This one is an exception though for being short, even though it's only the first stage. Better than Eureka because you have more variety in the content that you choose to do.

I never really understood why it's acceptable to have a long, mindless and boring grind for relics. To me that is more like self-inflicted punishment than it is an achievement, especially when the weapons inevitably become useless in the following expansion. Congrats, you just wasted more of your time.

I play games to be entertained, not to be bored and hate myself.

Sure, it's short but again, it's only the first stage. The next ones might ramp it up to how it usually is.

I thought that was only for savage fight and not normal one. Please correct me if im wrong. That "1%" is also lumped into that?

It gives you something to do, something to work for.

Which, after how easy it is to cap out literally every other aspect of your character (Getting Raid/Tome gear for casuals, Savage gear for hardcore players) wherein you have not much else to do other than... Hang about in Limsa and do weird RP stuff.

ALL gear becomes invalidated the following content patch. Yet people still farm up their Tomestone gear and or do Raids/Savage in order to get their swanky higher item level gear so they can AFK in Limsa with more stats than other people for a few months then the new content comes out and it's instantly replaced with the new gear that's better.

At least Relic weapons have the one advantage of being cool glams, which has infinite staying power given that "Glam is the real end game" is actually a sad reality because of the lack of staying power any content seems to have.

Having stuff I log in, spend an hour on, then am done with for X amount of months is not what I'd call playing games. Especially in an MMO, the literal timesink genre of game.

I dont need the relic to be an extremely bad grind. What I do expect is something that will keep me busy for a bit. While I will admit since I will get every relic weapon it puts me into doing the Roulettes everyday (and then some, as I find queing for certain Normal Raids give me a high chance for a newbie and therefore 100 Poetics each run) but after I do that probably in a couple days.... That's it. My group wants nothing to do with the ex because it's pointless to us,and after I pass it once I don't feel the need to go in either. (Why didn't they add a mount, crafting material, minion, ANYTHING other then a TT card here???)

It’s raiding in general. FFXIV is not a raid-centric game. World of Warcraft is a raid-centric game.

While the raiding scene is alive and well here, most people play for the story and the journey. That’s why nothing in the MSQ requires a raid. They are strictly optional sidequests, but with really good gear. But you don’t need that gear to experience the story.

That makes it new for you, yes, but not new content. I haven't completed UCoB yet. That doesn't mean 5.25 added a new Ultimate. You're also ignoring a lot—likely far more than not—have long cleared the Ivalice raids. Hence why people are complaining. I'm glad you have more stuff to do but consider other people don't. Their criticism is just as valid.

And no, SE locked the relic behind an old raid in the hopes people who have already done it would start doing Alliance Roulette more often to keep queues moving.

Well...I, mean yes that is exactly what I just said. It's new content for us. I never said it was new content for everyone.

Personally, I liked that it wasn't a pain-in-the-ass grind for the first version of the relic weapon (ARR was almost too much of a grind and then Eureka I just couldn't get into at all), and I did like the little duty we had (SNEAK PEAK INTO THE NEXT AREA?!), but I agree with the majority here in that we got way too little gameplay content (and generally have been getting way too little gameplay content with SHB patches). Love that there's more story, but we need our regular amount of gameplay, too.
