If someone is consistently not able to log in for such a long time, then yeah I get your point. Like, if I can only log in once every 3 months over and over again. But I'm talking about the people who typically play several times a week every month for years but maybe a few times it happened that they couldn't log in for a few months. Yeah, it's not the game's fault. But it's also not our fault that the game's housing system is so terrible.
If you want to say, "Hey, if you couldn't log in for a month...well, that sucks but hey it's just a game" then you must also think SE shouldn't have paused the timer for those suffering from the disasters right now. Because hey, that's not the game's fault. And maybe you DO think they shouldn't have paused the timer. But, clearly SE thinks if it's something beyond your control like a disaster, you deserve to keep your house. SO it stands to reason they should just extend the timer in general. You know?
