No, because as it was mentioned, they had to debug other lines of code not necessarily tied to the battle engine in order to make sure that replacing/adding the new code wouldn't cause a glitch elsewhere. I have some familiarity with C++, HTML, and Java, and based on my own experience, I can tell you that debugging and rewriting code is nowhere near as easy as you seem to believe.

In addition, this isn't some simple little homemade applet, modern games and applications can have millions of lines of code depending on thier complexity, and I would say a High-Def game that runs 24/7 while keeping track of who's logged in and when, while simulating weather conditions on multiple zones is pretty damn complex.

This is what kills me about these forums i think 90% of the people who post here think they are game programers and know how long it takes to make this or that. People must be basing their programing experience off RPG maker or something.

On a side note most of you was complaining "COME ON SE THROW US A BONE JUST A LITTLE INFO WOULD HELP!" now when you get your little info still not happy lol.

Btw. I forgot to add to my previous post that with the new battle presented on the video, with the auto attack it feels like (i get the felling if i try to bet the character) that you aren't fighting... you try to get the grasp of "you fighting" by selecting a commend but over that... the character Fights for you if you do nothing so you momentally lost the felling of you being that character and fighting... Frankly i hate even thinking like that...

Fells more like I'm watching someones else fighting and giving him advices to what he should use in this moment...

Aren't this kind of system the same as FFXIV? But instead of giving commands to 4 characters you give to 1. This could be considered as button spaming as well, Yet no one complained - people liked it.

I liked and love the current battle system because it gives me that feeling you have from that old final fantasy games, like the one presented on movie, and many other ones (from 4 to 7)

PS: There was tens of thousand battles in those old FF's on world map for example that you go throuhg Fight/Magic selecting the same skill/spell all the time. That wasn't bad.

It's not the same thing, I'm not constantly hitting one button and by constantly I mean every millisecond. The problem is that XIV tried to be a turn-based/action game and it just didn't turn out well. In the older games the battle pace was set by the ATB bar, my characters turns came at different times, so it wasn't like I was constantly hitting one button. If anything the auto-attack system will make it more similar to the original games.

How is mashing your 1-9 keys like playing FFIV? (as a matter of fact, 4 being my utmost favorite FF game I am a little upset that this is your comparison of choice when its nothing like XIV's system)

First, how can you compare a TURN BASED RPG to a REAL TIME RPG (meaning that monster in IV isn't going to attack until all your characters have had a chance to input a command versus that monster in XIV is going to rape you regardless if you tell your character to attack or not)

You're trying to make button mashing (XIV's current system) into strategic button selecting (Turn based systems [FFIV in this case]) The two are nothing a like. Hell, that is like saying talking on a forum is just like playing XIV (because I'm mashing keys/buttons to do something, in fact I would take that over FFIV, because if you are decent typist you should be typing words are a similar frequency as you would mashing buttons in XIV's current battle system, lol)

In my entire FFXIV play life i didnt have a situation i needed to press button on one skill all the time.
It looked more like *Press* > CHange skill > after couple seconds *Press* > and so one.

Btw. about atp bar, the first battle system in this game in alpha ware more into that manner... but people decided that the battle is so slow so they started to change and current battle came out.

Anyway yeah, they should make it turn based from all the start ^^
