I disagree with the 1st part. Its their money, they can spend it however they want. Nobody has a say in that.
On that 2nd part...as much as I personally Agree we shouldn't get Male Viera, it can still happen.

I don''t see why people are so against it. Do I think there are bigger issues the devs should tackle first? (things like healers being more boring than sin) Sure, but like, if you don't like male viera/female hrogthar just, don't play them. Just because you're allergic doesn't mean I can't have peanut butter. Nothing wrong with more options for the game.

In part because people want other stuff to be focused on. To be fair I would LOVE a new race that is not a furry-race to be added over just more furries, such as Pixies for example. But also in part because they are so annoyed by a vocal few who takes it too far to the point where they just appear as trolls at best.

You just need to go to the first page of this thread to see a person who outright accuses the dev team for being homophobes for not adding male Viera (even though they actually added male Hrotghar that is extremely bara appealing). Not that I agree with this mentality of not wanting something out of spite, But some people makes it really really hard to support this cause even though I understand why it is something they should do, even though I would never touch it.

After analyzing a large amount of posts here, I kept frowning more and more. I am not sure if disgusting is the right word to use here as it is strong, but there is such an intense and concentrated amount of ill-intend here coming from the opposing fraction that reminds me of children. And I am not talking about the pro-♂ Viera side here..

The first reason why this thread exists is absolutely valid and justified. Lore and money reasons are bullocks. Both are not true and have been proven to be wrong in either this thread or by the simple fact this game is expensive and makes great revenue. Period.

So, now after this is out of the way, I am of course supporting ♂ Viera. This incomplete-ness is fine for an alpha/beta game on Crowdfunding basis or Early Access games. Not for one well-known, expensive AAA title within probably the biggest video game franchise ever. I do not mind as if they are added soon or later as I am the pinnacle of evolution already: A Lalafell. but I can't wrap my head around why ♂ Viera are portraied as the end of the world. And this thread can't even explain it either. While the ♂ Viera advocats have a valid reason (the lack of the missing gender which is a simple fact), the opposition comes in here, hijacks a thread and basically constantly mocks ♂ Viera supporters. And this is the "disgusting" part of it.

Especially when you see "defmatel", a Viera, being so vocal about it. Her reasoning is the same as Marie Antoinette's. You can look up her famous quote if it does not ring a bell. And she has lots of supporters apparently. Then you have the same crowd (about 10 upvoters) portraying ♂ Viera supporters as "terrorists", "children throwing tantrums" etc. For something that is a fact - ♂ Viera are not in the game, a game that removed gender restrictions in the past and called them bad.

The hijackers - I call these people for invading this thread just to cause mad beef, not so much about having a real discussion about ridiculous genderlock - let's be honest here: The majority of you are Nelson sort of types basically pointing and yelling "HA HA" in this thread whenever it gets bumped. It is a discussion forums open for everyone, but coming into a ♂ Viera support thread just to mock and mass-upvote anti-♂ Viera posts over and over, really?. If you are happy with your current species, why do you come here in a "Show your support" thread just not to show support? This is mindboggling and vile. After so many pages, this thread has been destabilized by happy players who don't think they themselves don't want ♂ Viera and turned this whole thing into throwing stones back and forth, almost like real life politics destroying whole countries by causing a mess from the outside.

Really, just pick a random page and read the next 5 pages. You will find the ♂ Viera supporters constantly being pushed into the "whiner" corner by female Viera or player who are not even have a business being here (as happy Hrtoghar, why do you come in a ♂ Viera support thread apart from throwing rocks?)

And that is the worst part of derailing a very valid point: Getting ♂ Viera in here! Which I support.

From my perspective I do not see the idea of male viera being the cause or reason for the hate, think it comes more into the play how the minority of male viera supporters come annoying to say the least. Sadly, people tend to place more importance on the negative actors in a discussion because negative actions tend to have a lasting effect on people.

I honestly think if supporters of Male Viera came to terms with the fact from the start that nothing of major important regarding the added gender properly will not happen until 6.0 the earliest and let sleeping dogs lay until closer till the next expansion people would have less on an issue. Also removing the image of child / adolescent in the OP may also help the image of the thread / supporters.

Guess way I see it everything boils down to image, and the sub set of male viera supporters may have left a not so pleasant taste in the mouth of many. Do not get me wrong I still support more options and hope round out each race in due time.

male viera and fem hrot should not be a main priority, just a secondary one for them to be able to release them on 6.0. Rushing them isnt a good solution and forgetting about other stuff is neither a good solution. Imo, what SE should do is slowly work on male viera and fem hrot and then on 5.3-5.4 make them a focus so they can be ready for 6.0

Of course we can not expect to get male Viera any time soon. But this should not be a reason to stop advocating male Viera or stop showing that we still care about them being added to the game. How else should SE know that there is still a demand for male Viera at all if no one is telling them?

I am not speaking about nagging SE about male Viera here. I just can not see why we should keep our mouthes shut just because some people are annoyed that male Viera get mentioned from time to time (in a civilized manner). Especially in this thread which was made to show our support. It has every right to be on first page of this forum just as any other topic the community cares about.

I don't really have a strong opinion on the issue but I do want to see more races in game, especially since it feels kind of silly that SE had to release only 1 gender of each race and not make the hair changeable (From what I hear) or make hats fit properly. It just seems like they released some uncompleted races because they were on a time crunch.

That being said, I wouldn't expect to see male Viera for a while considering they haven't even fixed the female ones completely.

I would only support man buns if they made it hard to acquire. Don't throw them under the lore bus like they did male mithra. It should be something thats locked behind so many walls only the most serious will work to unlock it and thus keep them as 'rare' as the lore suggests. They're not supposed to leave the forest, but whatever we can set fire to the xiv lore, maybe literally burn down a section of forest so they have a reason to travel the world presumable to prevent any more forest fires.

I mean, playable races don't really adhere to lore. Male miqo'te are regarded as uncommon but a ton of players still make and play them anyways?

Playerbase has no correlation to lore because placing restriction on character customization for lore that Square Enix can make however they please would just feel oppressive. Like, "you can't play as a male mi'qote because they're rare just because we said so" would sound pretty silly and not be fun.

And suggesting that male viera should be gated off as a very difficult prize option when females are immediately available is uhh...

I would Pray that they have better writing and flesh it out abit more, but this would at least give a real reason for them to become a playable race venturing outside the forest.
Im not 100% against Male Viera coming to be, but Id still want some lore to justify and connect them to the world, and Not just slap them in "just Because."

Unlocking player race is kinda silly, i don't think allied races being unlockable went well with WoW, certainly wouldn't go well with ff14.

Was this stated in the FF14 lore? Because other FF lore does not count towards this game and at least on the first they are seemingly not hostile towards each other.

Also if you are playing a female Viera and are against males because of people lusting after them...isnt that a bit strange, seeing how the presentation of the female Vieras from SE side was mostly done with sexy poses and fanservice? (Including their racial gear)

Nobody cares about lore when it comes to making playable races available though, it's a game, people want to have fun and play what they want.

There's a reason the WOL doesn't have to eat or sleep or use the bathroom gameplaywise, and it's because it's just tedious realism that contributes nothing to the gameplay experience by adding it.

The same can be said for lore restrictions on races, it's just something tedious that adds an element of realism that a majority of the playerbase wouldn't enjoy and wouldn't add anything valuable to the game. Plus there's already a precedent set on gender restrictions because male Miqo'tes and Femroes were added.

Nobody's arguing that the lore doesn't make these races rare, what people are arguing is that nobody cares that the lore makes them rare and it's a stupid reason for excluding them.

And yet, we have female viera and male hrothgar only "just because". Lore doesn't provide a convincing explanation on why eorzea is suddenly populated by the new races, and there's zero reason why female hrothgar and male viera are nowhere to be seen in both worlds. I mean, it's pretty obvious that lore is not the real reason.
Anyway, reading about lore as a justification for gameplay restrictions just before the implementation of the Nier raid makes me laugh.

that just simply isn't true. the females leave the forest all the time, they're just treated as exiles when they do. All the way back when they were introduced in Tactics advanced it was tribes female viera living in the woods but sometimes leaving because reasons. There has never been a male viera model though, there wasn't even mentioning of males until 12. Not saying they can't add one, just that it shouldn't be given out like candy like the equally "rare" male miqo.

Whats the likeshood that if SE ever did release them they would do like black desert do and only make one job available to them and limit that job to lvl 50 XD

I find the lore argument substantially less convincing for not-ronso (hesitate to call them Ronso at all being reskinned roes with bad back posture) as they never had any precedent to being anything but 1:1 gender ratio and the biological fact that that no species has ever had a ratio skewed to the male side without suffering massive die off or extinction.

We went to Ivalice, Viera are from Ivalice. We also went to a Forrest untouched by the Light that still housed surviving Viera.
Hrothgar are from Ilsabard, which isn't far from Ruby Tide or Garlameld.

Male Viera hide and keep to the woods. They practically never leave. In Viera lore if Viera leave the Forrest, they are outcasts, and lose "The Voice from the woods" (I think its called something else but in this moment Im forgetting it. ) The Females are the only ones that Venture out and are willing to turn the woods. The Males arnt. The males dont particularly get along with others.
So without a reason, they still wouldn't come out of Hiding in the Source and in the First if they aren't wiped out by the Light.
Hrothgar Females are just few in far between. But honestly the only real explanation to this is that the Devs haven't had the time and/or resources to make Models yet.
Maybe they will with Male Viera next Patch. Maybe sooner, or even later. Time will tell.

If the empire was wiping out the viera I think the dudes would venture out that or they just sit in their tree houses and die out :/

Yes actually. I already unlocked the alliance races in wow using a lore abiding questline and an untold amount of dailies for said faction. Adding one for Viera as a whole wouldn't bother me in the slightest. In fact it was a missed opportunity to add actual backstory and reason for them being here. The Au'Ra had a pre-xpac quest line explaining why they are here, what they want, and who they are. The Viera (Lazily copy pasted Fran) got a side appearance in a raid only related to them because suddenly the previously coastal location of Orbonne Monastery from Tactics is now in the middle of the Golmore Jungle. The not-Ronso had even less than that. We didn't even get naming conventions until after they were a playable race.

And yes. I wouldn't mind a relevant lore related quest be used to keep the man bun population roughly at whatever it would be in lore. I do not mind earning something instead of it getting handed to me on a silver platter using a silver spoon. Its completely "fair" that lore reasons can be respected without reducing everything to mediocrity. Whatever whining the forums do is irrelevant, people cry about everything like selfish brats, i wouldn't expect this to be any different.

What I would want for the man buns since the ship has already sailed for everyone else, is simple. You go back to Fran, Fran takes you to a section of the forest under attack, You help them defend the area as a daily hub/eureka esque questline where you eventually entice a local man bun to help protect it, everyone ultimately fails to save the section of forest because the garleans presumable has a deus ex machina in their pocket, large sections of forest burn to the ground, young man buns now venture forth into Eorzea to combat threats to the forest from external sources.

dirty, simple, lore friendly, not everyone will want to do it, even less will complete it. Suddenly being a manbun has weight over yet another "i paid for a fantasia"
You can argue "its only a matter of time before everyoen unlocks it!" and i would just counter with "yes let me tell you about how many people got every relic weapon from eureka!" The population will far closer to accurate than just throwing them under the lore bus with the male miqos.

That will require retconning lore. As one of the "deals" with Fran and the "queen" is to take in refugees from Robanastre. Many of who were Viera. (and i guess Bangaa weren't welcome)
But we both know that isn't happening and they have no reason too. Being spiteful isn't going to make people change their minds about this.
