Nop... That kind of mix should be burn in hell !!!
If she have eso pendant... She should have take eso pants
This isn't horror in the traditional sense.. And is actually fun in its own way.
My friend and I decided to replay the story on a new server with not-our-main classes. No crafters this time - just got essential cross class skills and sticking to mains. So we're running with the best NPC whites our meager gil can get us (except I'm too cheap to do anything but the most dire of upgrades). Playing pld (him) and whm for queue times.
I am a healer that *loves* to dps - but it flat out is not safe for our setup. Dungeon runs are quite the rush. Did brayflox's last night.. I got poison circled, moved forward out of it, knocked back into the circle while trying to heal myself, so ran behind (out of range) with double digit HP remaining..
Had to pull out pom and make some quick calls on 3 poisons to cleanse while keeping friend up and healing the damage. Even had to eat a hi ether since I was low on MP. Sure wasn't boring!
Not so much "horror" as "smh" - I've been running Sohm Al to level AST. In 3 back-to-back runs I had:
- A warrior who did the weirdest pulls I have ever seen. They would run up, pull some enemies, then run back towards the party causing mass confusion.
- A brand new tank (slightly undergeared) along with a BLM who couldn't dodge. This one was annoying as the tank kept losing aggro on multi-mob pulls.
- And my favorite - a PLD who kept switching to Sword Oath and a SMN who never used any aetherflow abilities AT ALL and was using tri-bind on mobs already in melee.
The PLD and DRG were actually really nice. The DRG would occasionally grab aggro on a single target but since the SMN was doing next to no damage we needed the dps from sword oath. We came close to wiping on Tioman because it was dragging on so long that I was running out of mana even with popping Luminiferous Aether and Ewer whenever possible. It didn't help that the DRG ate a Chaos Blast to the face going from full to dead...
As a SMN main, that was the one that really bothered me.
There were no wipes though, so overall I was feeling accomplished.
This story happened about a month ago, but the memory is still seared into my brain, so I thought I might as well share it. It's more a Party Finder Horror Story than a healer one but I think it fits good enough. (WARNING: LONG STORY AHEAD.)
One day while being bored out of my mind after capping eso, I (a WHM) look at PF for something to do. A Ravana EX clear party catches my eye with the text of "Helping friend get clear. Farm if good group". Normally I don't join clear parties without a friend or two but the promise of a farm was enough to lure me in. Once I joined I looked at the group, with 5 people including PL being in the same FC. The party list before we went in was PLD/WAR/WHM(me)/SCH(new person)/MNK/NIN/MCH/SMN, with the PLD/WAR/SCH/MNK/NIN being in the same FC.
After markers were placed and quick strategies discussed (2-tank split for cleave and who goes where for after swords), the PLD put on Sword Oath while the WAR put on Defiance with full VIT jewelry. At this point I should have known this party was going to go places, none of them being a successful clear. But whatever, Since they were in an FC together I figured they knew what they were doing and kept my mouth shut.
Right after the pull the mistakes started to pile up, the first one being the MNK not doing the parry mechanic correctly. This MNK's brain had to have been the size of a BLM because his ignorance of mechanics was obviously MY fault because I wasn't removing the slow fast enough, rather than the wild idea that he shouldn't hit the wrong side of Ravana.
The second main mistake was not that we hit two swords for Bloody Fuller, but the fact that besides me and the ranged DPS, no one had any idea how to play Ravana Kart 64 around the arena to avoid the explodey balls of doom. We wiped the first time here as me and the SCH died. Honestly I should've just left right away but the PLD confessed to not telling people where to move to after the Ultimate. Second time around the MNK still fails (or refuses?) to do the parry mechanic right to no one's surprise and we get only one sword for Bloody Fuller now. We still mess up the Go-karting but not as bad since only the NIN died here.
The third and biggest mistake happens here at the 4 swords. The party managed to do the sword placement without trouble, but all our hard work and effort blew away here. Quick context here; The quadrant selection was A=Tanks, B= Healers, C=Melee DPS, and D=Ranged DPS. As I moved to my quadrant I noticed the SCH hanging out with the ranged DPS, who both had the vuln down from doing the swords. Needless to say all three of them died while the PLD somehow managed to walk off the arena due to auto-run. At this point the WAR called it a wipe and everyone jumped off. We never saw a successful transition to Double Prey.
This third mistake happened twice after the first time, with the SCH being the main culprit each time. I called him out on it and he claims that the ranged DPS were the ones in the wrong quadrant and not him, besides the fact that Positions were clearly stated before each pull. At this point I decided to stop letting this slide. Before I left the group I said this:
"Sorry but I joined looking for a clear party, not a progression."
The PL leader sent me a /tell that bordered on harassment but I didn't bother writing a report, so I just added him and the other FC members to my Blacklist. I never looked back.
