This... was awesome xD (and also a good thing my upper management is cool with stifled laughter at seemingly nothing...)

On heals I keep getting ST runs where the melee DPS eat all of the AoEs or fight the bosses from the same direction as the main tank and take cleaves to the face. Between that and being stuck on Alliance A where A stands for "a lot of time spent frozen," I try to run ST as few times as possible.
I'm a 49 SCH.
In haukke manor with a 28 ARC, 30 MRD, and 30 PUG. Yes, they are not WAR or MNK. MRD is hovering at 1000 hp with level 15-20 gear and PUG has level 15 white gear. ARC was properly equipped. MRD cant hold aggro when I try to dps and heal so I stick to healing. Throughout the run we wipe a few times of the big pulls, no biggie because of gear problems. We get to the last boss and the ARC and I don't bother ressing when the PUG and MRD die in a few seconds and we solo the last boss. Awesome sauce. 3 commendations lol.
Here's another.. Just hit 50, and have enough items from getting other classes to 50 to make my SCH i72.
Enter tam Tara HM. Tank is pulling 7-10 mobs at once, and my meager heals are barely enough to keep up with the outcoming damage. We wipe a few times on giant pulls. I let the tank know my ilevel is low please keep it at 2 groups if he wants to have bigger pulls. We clear both bosses easily. Enter last boss. Tank doesn't help the 2 dps with the grooms and we end up wiping at 2%. The tank says a bunch of bad words and leaves. A lower ilevel tank comes in and we clear the last boss with ease. :) 3 commendations.
I did normal Tam Tara as a WHM last night.
The tank starts off by blasting out of the starting line before i even get a chance to cast Protect. One cure pulls mobs off him, and the bard does most of the tanking.
When it gets to the portions with Void Soulcounter, the bard has to run around and kite the guy, while I fire off a cure to make sure that they weren't two shot. Then we get to a portion where there is a narrow passageway. The tank goes crazy and dashes down the path to the next orb, pulling every damn thing with him. At this point, the party gets split up, because everyone was being attacked by something. So here I am, running up and down this path trying to heal everyone without getting blocked by LoS
The last boss was no better. I think the bard may have taken aggro again, but I was too busy trying to keep myself and everyone else alive while our tank flopped on the sidelines. It was probably the most interesting run I've had of Tam Tara in a while....lol
So I was in a ST run and you know how if you stand in a puddle and another frozen orb freezes in the puddle, everyone freezes? So I was solo healing cuz other healer dc'd in my Alliance and everyone was in the puddle for some odd reason.... dps got the orb and didn't move and literally all dps frozed.... me and the tank were like Wtf guys and it was pretty hard keeping tank a live and their dumb assess.
This isn't a horror story, just a strange thing that happened while I was healing during my Daily Roulette (Normal) in Copperbell. So nothing really bad happened but... Copperbell is incedibly easy to heal. Like.. Holy crap. Especially if you have a level 45+ tank that's been synced down. Well I was primarily Cleric Stancing the dungeon, and dancing out of it to throw a Cure ever so often so the tank wouldn't die. They had like.. 712HP and my Cure healed 200HP-210HP so I would throw a heal out if they dropped to like 400HP-500Hp. Well I notice that one of the two Arcanist was casting Physick when the tank would drop to about 600HP... I asked them politely to stop since I just thought it was a waste of time to heal a tank that wasn't going to die any time soon and we could just DPS our way through the battles easily. They told me to "heal my friend faster then." I told them that 400HP on a tank with 712HP in Copperbell (Normal) isn't a bad amount for them to drop to before I heal them. They replied with "Fair enough" and never healed again.
The really weird thing? I got all three Commendations. o_o I mean... I did do pretty good at Stance Dancing in the dungeon, but.. It was just weird. I don't know. xD
I just came out of a horror story... it seems very familiar to recent stories... ("esuna?")
Wasn't healing this time, but, was on a secondary char (BRD). Did a low level DF into Haukke. The tank silently started running all over, not knowing where to go. The BLM and I figure 'hey, must be first timer, gotta start somewhere'. He wasn't keeping hate, the WHM kept pulling just healing him once or twice and he wasn't grabbing the full mobs - only going after one at a time with an occasional flash. We attempted explaining things to this silent tank running around trying every locked door like a new player. Then he levels. Lvl 43. The BLM and I were.. I've no word for it. Looked at his gear.. Level 40ish gear. Wat?
Topping it off, he spams LB -every- time it fills. Tank LB. Everywhere. All the time. And never a word spoken.
Killed last boss and he ran out, leaving the three of us in a daze of "what were you on??".
I don't know how we didn't wipe. I feel for you, WHM, I feel for you.
And I almost forgot to mention, thanks to the letter count..... he was a gladiator. No Soul Stone equipped. Hence the assumption of newbie.... a 43 gladiator that never ran Haukke Manor. *Headdesk*
This sounds dead familiar to me since i did run 2 instance with such a tank as WHM. Always spams tank lb and no words spoken, at all. Oh, and every times he died he returned before i had a chance to raise. It was however not yesterday though. The 1st time was ok, the 2nd I met him again through duty finder, the party tried every possible moment to kicked him at about 2/3 of the run. Success at last.
I just wondered how such player exists -.-
Was the name something along the lines of "Mister Killer"?
I guess we're lucky - our derptank waited around for his raise (though, I wish he didn't..... apparently bards (me) tank the manor jester better than he did...).... maybe I should say "Unluckily, our derptank waited around for his raise"...
Earlier today I was in Darkhold and the tank I got was horrible. Like... the worst. The monk and summoner were dumbfounded too and we eventually kicked the tank. The tank wouldn;t use Flash, never listened to us about the crystal light, and would pull groups too large for me to heal through, especially since I would pull all the hate after one or two Cure spells. They died on the first boss and I didn;t even get a chance to Raise them. We fought and beat the boss with just the three of us. It was easy. We got a new tank. He wasn't great but he was good enough. Ended up getting all three comms! :D
Also I was soing Castrum for the story missions and... Why do some WHM spam Stone Skin? That's pretty much all the other WHM did. That and Cure II. Why? Please tell me why? And I didn't even get a comm from this one and it felt like I was solo healing most of it. :(
More of a funny run from my perspective but my flat mate (long time mmo healer) was in tears beside me.
Did my roulette and got tam Tara HM. Before I start the party we got was great but the tank at the start pulled everything till the first orb area and I was having a mini heart attack trying to stop his hp plummeting. After that the group went and did another pull but my mp was still at 1/2. At this point I typed "mppppppp" into chat and just got smiles in return.
We got to the first boss (my mp still not max) and my flat mate started typing with my keyboard into chat (ps4 user) and she just typed "mpppp" again. By this time I was in stitches and I think the party mates were too.
Everything was fine the test of the run but at the end after I said "thanks for the fun run :)" I got "mppppppp" in return, I died. Turned around and my flat mate looked almost in tears and I just said "welcome to endgame healing". Dunno if she re rolled class yet.
Why does it always have to be a horrible Titan HM run for Trials roulette?
Kikoten sensed your presence as you entered the room. He was dressed in a colorful bath robe and kicked back in a lavished leather chair at hearth side. He pulled the toy pipe from his lips and peered over the top of his book, a thick hardback titled Healing Horror Stories.
"Oh, hi there~♪" said the effeminate lalafellin White Mage, snapping his book closed and laying its five hundred plus page thickness on his lap. "You scared me. I think I know why you're here. You want to hear one of my tales of horror, don't you?"
Kikoten poked the mouthpiece of his toy pipe between his lips and blew a few bubbles into the warm, cozy air as the fire in the hearth cracked and popped.
"It all started when I was whisked off through the aether, taking me far away from Gridania. I offered my healing services for a group of three big, strong adventurers. We'd found ourselves in the maw of Stone Vigil...
"I'd only just finished bestowing holy protection on my allies when the leader of our venture took an... eager step too far forward, rousing the attention of the trio of fire-breathing lizards from down the hall. Before I knew it, I had a great ball of fire spat in my face!
"The Paladin stood there and muttered 'Oops!', and he proceeded to whoop and cackle as I ran around with flames on my hair, flickering like those of a torch, as the lizards padded after me!
"I knew right then that we were most likely doomed to fail. In the end, the bard sang me a ditty and gave me good feelings. We all charged through the Stone Vigil, and I lived to tell about it. But the Paladin? Um, maybe not so much. Oh well!"
in 8-person content, most players won't be able to tell the difference between healers, especially if they're the same job (but sometimes when they aren't too). it's good for tanks and dps to pay a little attention to the party list, but even if they do pay attention to what's being cast, are they going to see it often enough to get the full picture? nah, they've got those rotation things to worry about. i've had several ST runs where the other healer might as well have been a bot and i still walked away without a single comm. factor in that you're in story roulette, where if you stop to breathe you're wasting everyone's time, and half the party probably walked out without even giving a commendation. nothing to worry about too much.
Honestly, when I'm playing DPS in an 8-man, I can never tell who is casting what - which one healed me, etc - it could have been a SMN for all that I know... it's a bit like having a forced limited/narrow view. When I WHM an 8-man, I see a lot of whats going on (and sometimes painfully aware if I'm not matching up to the better geared/skilled healer partner that I'm paired with |||OTL). I'm assuming it's because as WHMages you're just sort of trained to being hyper aware... life bars, monster life bars, party stat effects, the enemy, boss placement (for those with unannounced charges or AoEs), your MP, AoEs, your skill bar/CDs, who's getting out of the AOEs and who isn't, etc.
Castrum and Praeturim, I believe it was - both of those two Main Story missions are heavily Rouletted (...I think those are the only two in that roulette, anyway) so majority are just SRing through as fast as possible. As long as they clear it, they really don't care who did what.
Speaking of narrow views... had a sort of weird 5 second horror story o_O
DFed into Stone Vigil HM. At the very start, the BLM brb'd to set music. I'm cool with that, I play my music list whenever I go into Tam Tara HM, so why not any other? Then the other BLM BRBed. Shit happened for them, still fine with it. Apparently, the tank got tired of waiting and/or decided he didn't see any of that BRBing and ran in. I'm sitting here, thinking to myself, "Naaah, probably just running in, looking, then running back or waiting at a corner. Seen it before." Well, nope. He disappeared into the dungeon. With both DPS as brb.
"Maybe he's just grabbing one thing and running back..." Nope. So I'm stuck between, 'Dumbass ran in without waiting for anyone, so I should just let his ass get handed to him and maybe he'll learn.", and "ARGH MUST FILL LIFEBAR ARGH."
(continued)
The tank came running back like his ass was on fire... with a huge mob... so idiot me goes to try to save him, the music playing BLM comes back a few moments later, the other BLM still afk and shit is just hitting a million fans. I die trying to save the idiot tank with a heal (which sends EVERYTHING to me, which tells me he didn't try to gain any hate, beforehand), the idiot tank dies, and I just feel like grabbing a wyvern by the tail and using it violently as a bat on said idiot tank.
The still BRB'd BLM had to leave due to more important matters and just as we regain control of the chaos from hell, the tank leaves what feels like mid-fight, leaving the BLM and I to deal.
I usually do pretty damn well SRing with large pulls in SV HM (and yet I can't do Titan HM -_-?) but this... this was.... I don't know what that was. *Jumps from a window* I should have just let the tank die all alone in there. How do you not see when nobody in your party is with you for that length of time?
Back when I was trying to clear T5..
Was in a 'T5 clear party' the other healer was in cleric stance the whole time. I asked him to switch back to normal stance, he answered 'u noob the 15%echo will cancel the15% cleric stance so my heal won't be affected.'...
So I left the party and he kept sending me tells calling me ragequitter...
Well, I can't speak for other White Mages but I know I got in the habit of doing that after observing other WHMs during my first few level 50 story dungeons. MP permitting I try to keep stoneskin up on everyone at all times and it does cut down on the healing you have to do. I remember one run I did ages ago with a SCH as the other healer. Between my constant refreshing of stoneskin (if it dropped off, it was normally only on the tanks) and the fairy healing, neither of us were doing much by the way of healing, and certainly nothing a quick regen or a physick couldn't handle, and I'm fairly certain the SCH dropped into Cleric stance at one point to dps.
There are of course times when I stop that to focus solely on healing but on the whole, that's what I spend most of my time those two story dungeons doing. If there are two WHMs, I've even seen the other go into Cleric Stance and dps because no-one is taking much damage that can't be dealt with by one healer.
DR Trials, Titan HM
I queued as BLM
since I usually queue as a SCH, I take a look at both healers gear, out of curiosity, and I notice that the WHM has ilv90 jewels and the rest is all ilv55.
we start, and the WHM casts Protect and Medica2.
and I'm like. WTF.
but whatever, we go on, we destroy the heart, and I start to notice that the WHM never casts Medica2 when titan Jumps, I only see the scholar using Succur.
the WHM doesn't survive post-hearts stomps, eventually we wipe.
restart, and again the WHM uses Medica2 at start.
at this point I start asking:
-"Why are you using Medica2 at pull?"
- "HoT :3"
-"you are using a HoT at pull, when the only person taking damage is the tank, and you are not using it when titan Jumps..."
-"that's because when he jumps I cast Cure3"
....WAHT.
we wipe.
we arrive at 50% echo.
we wipe again.
vote abandon.
I remember doing CM as a tank, I was mt that run and said before ultima (no dps or healing until everything goes white). Well I pop some buffs run to ultima and as soon as he agros me (but I'm still out of shield lob range) the whm shoves medica 2 on me (didn't see her casting it because I figured people understood what "no healing" meant so I didn't pay attention to the party bar). Needless to say she tanked the first half because I couldn't get him off her... Partly my fault but this is a prime example of whm not learning that HoT at pull is a STUPID IDEA. Figured they would learn when they started using regen like I did, I was mistaken evidently.
Oh yeah and at ultima part 2 she did the same but this time I stopped dead in my tracks and said I'm not engaging until medica 2 wears off, she evidently didn't learn from her mistake.
yeah. but the thing I don't understand is... WHY xD
why using medica 2 ( WITH DIVINE SEAL TOO, at 30% echo!!!) when nobody is taking damage xD
I was just reminded of my first run of brayflox on my tank.
I got a join in progress that was missing a tank, I thought nothing of this until things got fishy when we were waiting outside the boss room. One of the dps was afk then just up and left, the healer was not a whm but still a conjurer. I thought ok that\\'s ok for this level but I reccommended she got whm after to help (kindly). We got a new dps and engaged the first boss, I quickly realised why the first tank bailed, the healer could not keep me alive at all, I got scared looking at my hp bar and she was spam healing me meaning the adds were getting ripped off me at alarming speed (ah pre shield oath days).
After the fight she told me she had no time to get her whm job (ok?) and after a few more groups were I either died or almost died I kept saying that getting whm was a good thing to do and would save you time. I kept getting told I have no time.
Cont next post (can\\'t edit on mobile).
After the second boss completely steam rolled me because she couldn't keep me alive I asked why she had no time. Her reason: I made a new character so I can get the lighting outfit from the event in this gender and race so I gotta get to 40 something to get it ASAP so I don't have time to get arc to 15. This is the point were i kind of began to loose my shit. I got into an argument which was further stoked by me dying to single groups of mobs a few times and having to belt it back to save the dps and she kept spamming emotes at me in what I assume an attempt to look cute. This might of worked on a male but on a female it has quite the opposite effect, it made me more angry. Worked on the dps though.
Somehow we got to the last boss and finished with 2 mins left. Also it wasn't my eq, I had the best I could get via the market and some dungeon stuff and I ran it multiple times after and never died once.
Every time I do this run and people start attacking pre-white light, no matter what I say, I just stand back and watch as Ultima just bounces around from person to person. >_> Annoying as WHM because I have to potentially join that chaos and heal someone, but hilarious on Bard... then I get to stand back and stare at Ultima twirl around like a ballerina.
2 days ago, or something like that, in Stone Vigil Hard, a crazy Warrior was pulling everything, as many monsters he could take before getting stuck by a gate or something, even the last 10-12 monsters that hit hard and does AOE.
I did success to heal this, but it was all the time crazy, almost did myself 1-2 times and the tank also (thx benediction)
Usuaully, tanks take 2 packs of 3 monsters, sometime, when they feel confident, 9, but t was the first time I saw a tank taking more, and it was also the first time, I didn't had time to do even one Holy.
There is probly some WHM that goes there in team and do this all the time, but with ppl that I didn't know, I was surprise (I think the 2 blm where friends with the tank)
XD
Yeah female playing a male, dunno why, always have done always will do. Think the reason why is because a lot if female voices in RPGs are like nails on a chalkboard.
Is funny when raids find out I'm female, I've been asked my breast size, had my ass complimented and been accused of lying and that I'm a 50 year old virgin in disguise xD
The worst is when you have horrible DPS that keep getting hit by things that they could avoid if they actually tried. Using up all your MP to keep them alive, and then when they DO die, you instantly see "rez plz" in chat. I'll usually humor them with it if we haven't wiped yet. But on the second time around, I'm all business. And if that means I have to leave them dead and focus on just me and the tank to save MP and to get the job done, then that's what I'll do.
I actually found that my first time fighting titan, after MULTIPLE wipes, that once both DPS fell off the edge... the fight became a LOT easier. XD
Just came out of Ifrit HM... I did it 2-3 other times in a row, along with Garuda HM mixed in ('join party in progress' is a blessing I've only now just noticed o.o), almost non-stop, no problem. We wiped them with the floor. And then... Ifrit pulls early (I was too busy selecting names to stoneskin to see who/what/where/when/why), bounces around on everyone, second tank had to afk in the middle (though, I thought he was trying to be carried, at first, and got annoyed... and there fore became selective in my healing of them >.>;;; ). The other healer was SCH so slightly less aggro than the cure IIs I had to spam on the DPSes x.x ... Ifrit decided I'd be an awesome chew toy :| I ended up tanking it for a little bit (I feel so abused T^T). I don't know how I didn't die o_o (Thank you, SCH!). The DPS kept dying x.x but part of it was bad timing/luck (raising into plumes, etc x.x). We ended up beating it as two tanks, two healers.
On the upside, we were applauded for good heals ^^; I was just too in a state of "o_______o .... *Still auto-panicking*" to think of anything to say, after all that...
