Bumping to the top of the sea of BRD threads.
QUestion regards dots / TTT combo (i know i'm pretty bad at math so please help me out): How long does CT / PT needs to tick to surpass TTT combo? For example soloing a mob or in a quick phase (bismarck for example or any add that don't last 30 secs+). In most dungeons / solo content i just go with double / triple TTT and totally ignore CT combo, but i think its not really optimal.
TTT = 150 + 200 + 360 = 710
IDC = 180 + 220 + 250 * 1.1 + 35*ticks = 675 + 35*ticks
So...2 ticks. = 6 seconds max, 4.5 seconds avg, aka 2 GCDs ballpark post IDC
If we extend to 1 GCD after, if we assume you are doing 4th combo, then IDC gives an additional 29 potency in damage, which means it will surpass TTT at 1 GCD.
TTT4 = TTT + 290 = 1000
IDC4 = IDC + 290*1.1 = 994 + 35*ticks
So if you have time to finish even ONE 4th combo, then it is worth it to IDC. Esp if you have brd/mch hitting that same target.
This coming week I'll be able to upgrade Hands+Legs, then either Feet or my other 2 accessories. I'm not sure which choice is better.
After upgrading the Hands+Legs:
w/ Feet
ACC = 694 (-9)
CRIT = 553 (-30)
DET = 419 (+45)
SPD = 579
w/ Accessories (Earrings+Neck)
ACC = 707 (+4)
CRIT = 586 (+3)
DET = 378 (+4)
SPD = 582 (+3)
it's probably best to compare the set with feet vs the set with accessories
anyway i'd say, if you're looking for immediate dps results, the accessories are better. you're not factoring in the extra str 2 accessories give over feet (2 accessories from i180=8 str, 1 feet from i180=5 str)
if you still play bb, is it dead
So what sort of rotation should those of us who are only level 54 use?
You're right I didn't even think about the STR, guess I'll just go that route or leave it up to RNG and see if I get a Pedal or Bolt first next week.
I haven't played BB since a little after the BBCP patch update, so didn't even buy BBCP Extend. Couldn't answer that question but a new one is coming out in arcades lol.
It should be the same as the old one, you just use Blood of Dragon because it still provides the buff to jumps. At Lv.56 you get Fang and Claw so you can just add that to your rotation. I personally skipped out on Lv.58 Wheeling Thrust until I got Lv.60 with Geirskogul since it needlessly complicated the rotation without the added benefit of the extra dps from Geirskogul. You could get it and practice doing both, but it isn't hard anyway for that to matter.
I came across this on reddit with regards to someone who was asking if it was worth it DPS wise to keep BotD up even if it meant not landing your positionals correctly.
Regardless, a nice chart to take a look at I suppose?
https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...td_timing_and/
You'd use the rotation of HT-IDC-P-TTT-TTT on repeat, and pop BoTD as your jumps come off cooldown. Since the durations have increased a bit, you can get an extra round of TTT in, so it's not quite the same as the old rotation. If I remember correctly, when I was in that level range I would have CT and Disembowel fall off sometimes just before re-applying. Not a big deal, I don't think. Just watch your timers and react, but I'm pretty sure I remember using basically that same combo.
Yeah it's a nice sheet. Adding it to OP later.
I calculated a while back, that the average potency of "4th" needs to be 220ish (counting misses) over the course of an entire encounter, for it to be a PPS gain over H IDC4 P TTT4 TTT4. That includes Jump buffs and GK if I'm not mistaken.
As for Dropping BOTD vs skipping HT/P.. As long as you're able to hit all positionals in that cycle, yes skipping either a P or HT in favour of not dropping BOTD is the wisest thing to do. Dropping either is between a 1-2PPS loss, where as dropping BOTD is an 8 PPS loss including GK and Jump Buffs.(calculated in a 120s cycle that is).
That's one of the things I'll be adding to the OP later.
He should be using the Rotation of Shame as he doesn't have WT/FC yet. Everything else is spot on.
hi guys, i am so excited to finally be a Dragoon, at lvl 32 right now but i am strangling with the rotation at this low level. I've just got Ph and Jump and i am not exactly sure where should i fit those in.
I mean, i don't have yet Dis so my rotation goes something like that:
HT-IR-TT-VT-LS-FT-Ph and repeat the FT combo. Can you please tell me where should i fit Jump or B4B which i'll get at 34?

N200 potency??
DRG FOTM time lads. That means there's absolutely no excuse to ever drop BOTD in any given situation.
EDIT: LMAO at i200-i210. That's broke. Also, is the Law gear our amazing AF2 DRG gear?
The esoteric gear seems to be the AF2 yes.
The weapons....

They're all i210... Gear choice time! I posted my gear calculator a few pages back if someone wants to start testing out optimal stats. Just input all of the new gear and solve away!
If I can find an internet cafe I'll update weights for you all.
EDIT: The solver caps all gear choices at 2.3901 GCD and you'll need to input some higher accuracy requirements (second page) if you want to solve for accuracy.
There's a dropdown box for food choices (you have to solve for each food option manually) and accuracy.
EDIT 2: Broniac. What a gorgeous name.
Be interesting to see how the final bis set ends up, with ss being relevant now, the choices aren't so clear-cut. Be good to get some first buy recommendations though.
I'm not really digging the stat changes when you upgrade the Gordiac items. Nuh huh.
Just me stuffing Crit blindly.

I kinda forgot how much SKS we would need to hit the required amount. On top of that, was there a discussion on how SKS affect DOTs? Could someone point it out to me if there was any?
First page.Quote:
There's one important rule that you must follow. The Dragoons new rotation only works with a Global Cooldown of 2.4s and below to play efficiently. This means, you need to have approximately 590 Skillspeed to make this rotation work.
I guess there's no point for me in trying to figure out a BiS till we know the accuracy cap, though, right?
That's true though it be nice to see what kind of numbers we're hitting ignoring accuracy.

This is probably the closest to 590SkS I can hit while prioritizing mostly on Crit.

Link for my spreadsheet. Update it. A quick inspection looks like I may of broke the skillspeed section before I uploaded it 2 weeks ago... oops
Anyway, the numerical Skillspeed cap is 652 if you want to use Ariyala.
That's the soft-cap of skillspeed before things start going a bit "odd" and skillspeeds diminishing returns kicks in for Dragoons.
Basically, don't go over that number unless a mechanic in an encounter requires us to do so, or if gear inflation forces us to go above it.
This takes us to exactly 2.3901 GCD. Anymore is a waste and a TP hog.
I think in Ariyala you can do such a thing... Mind you, I've not seen all the gear yet.
so in theory how much skillspeed do you need to do do IDC4>TTT4>TTT4 again lol
its looking like a fun gimmick to try
H IDC4 P TTT4
H TTT4 P IDC4
H TTT4 P IDC4 ...
Which is 2.15-2.13GCD for it to be a DPS gain over what er currently do.
1230ish skillspeed.
You could get like a whole load of people with Selene/AST buffing you to do something extreme which might allow you to do 4GKs per minute as you're saving 1GCD.
H IDC4 P TTT4 TTT4 is what you want to do.
