not sure about your server but here all those glamour clothing which drop from aquapolis (expeditioner, thavnairian set) are really cheap, use food and potion and you get 1 level with every successfull desynthesis.

Asking, is Elegant Rimless Glasses gives FC3 too like Rimless Glasses?
You need Dawnborne Aethersand to craft Thavnairian gear, so your advice of using the silk/leather to craft them individually is wrong and the expeditioners also use BC 3's. The mats for the relic take one sand and the other mats are really cheap.
Two of the Falconers items use Pterodactyl leather which are more than twice the cost of the Aethersand, so the only one I could craft for less would be the Falcon Shirt
I will stick with "too" thanks.
Just out of curiosity as a 220 culinarian what are the best thing to be desynthesising
I would focus on fish that can result in Tier V materia for transmutes.
Anybody knows why when I desynth primal drops (ex) I get skill ups even tho it says 100%, but when I desynth bridesmaid sandals also at 100% my ltw skill doesnt go up?
The exact formula is explained on P1 of this thread :/
You will gain skill so long as your skill is within 30 skill points of the rLVL / iLVL of the item.
Yes, they do.
I'd like to ask a question.
What is the best way to raise Blacksmith up from 160? I've been trading in Centurio Seals for items, but they are kind of a pain to get.
Any other suitable way?
Furthermore, any information on Goldsmith over 180 would be helpful. Doing Blue Script crafter gear and counterfoils is extremely time consuming.
You'd much rather do crystal bells for BSM r160. Wildfowl feather, birch lumber, titanium alloy ingot. Then check your server's prices on allagan aetherstones of weaponry and make those.
I've stalled at about 192 BSM Desynthesis Skill. The only serious options for me are Ravana and Antiquated Esoterics weapons, but they're kind of too high of an ilvl, but Bismarck weapons are too low of an ilvl and I absolutely hate grinding Hunt marks, so it's just really frustrating. At least now I can spend Esoterics on Antiquated Hauteclaire again after having completed the current relic weapon quest for good.
And yes, if my Success Rate is below 60% without Tinker's Calm+Bacon Broth, I just let about 15 items collect in my retainer's inventory before using them.
If you are a crafter and can get blue scripts I believe some of the main hands are bsm so might be able to use those to get over 200. It does require collectable synthesis but for me it is a lot less painful than running dungeons. I had been lvling weaver with that but I know I am not capped yet.
Was desynthing from 120-140. I found that Yeti Fang Earrings are also perfect for this, far more successful than Dragon Fang Earrings. (depending on the price of Mythrite nuggets on your server, or if you're willing to spend on Gnath vendors)
From 140-160 I think Yeti Fang Ring of... are entirely viable. Haven't gotten further than this yet.
From 90 - 120, I found that if you're farming Shiva Extreme unsynced, almost everything is GSM (only the Codices are Alchemy). The weapons are easier to desynth until 100+ then you can start on the accessories.
The Agate rings make a great filler between runs from 90-120.
What is the newest caps because my CUL is at 217.20 which seems bit higher than I thought the cap would be. I thought it would of stopped at around 210-215.
Is it worth levelling ALC desynth to 220? What are the endgame items you can get via desynth from alchemist?
Oh yeah, that's a good idea. I haven't gotten into crafting in Heavensward like I did in ARR, so I forgot that. Thanks.
To Snugglebutt, the cap is 220.
To Tehol, honestly... it's a real shame, but there are still no special endgame items from Desynthesis in Heavensward except for Glass Fibers from Void Ark gear. And even then, the primary method of getting Glass Fibers is through Moogle dailies, though Desynthesis is the only way to get HQ Glass Fiber.
For whatever reason, you can't desynth while in Palace of the Dead. Just says it's unavailable.
I'm just learning about Desynth now, and trying to decide what Skills to focus on.
Has anything important changed about the benefits/products of each Skill in the 3.1-3.3 updates, after the OP was last updated? I know the decision will be somewhat personal based on my own needs and crafting habits, but I would like to make a well-informed decision before investing in the process.
So I've got LTW to 211 and just got my WVR to 195. Blue scrip gear is ridiculously effective for both leveling desynth AND making money back at the same time. Tinker's Calm and Bacon Broth if it's not overly expensive should be the gap closer from 170-200 then you can do Void Ark gear (fails a lot) or eso gear. BSM is 136 right now also
BSM/ARM/CRP to d220 seem to be very tedious in comparison to the other classes. Each i180 MH turn-in requires 12 Blue Tokens instead of 3. It effectively takes 4 times the amount of effort to cap BSM/ARM/CRP for no foreseeable reward or advantage.
I found a very good recipe to get BSM from d160-d190 (Crystal Bells) which also provide a good source of Fieldcraft IIIs, However the grind from d190-220 looks like its gonna break the bank and keep us tied down for prolonged periods of time.
Our options seem to be limited to i170 MH/OH's which would require large quantities of Fieldcraft III's as well as Favor materials or Pudding Floor Lamps which would require a lot of Tincalconite (airship venture matt). Neither seem very feasible. The only advantage to the i170 over the i180 Tools is that you can meld them to increase the % chance of a successful desynth.
Has anyone here capped BSM to d220? If so what items did you grind off?
I might just stop working on BSM cuz it's really only good for getting FC3 and MCD from Mor Dhona. Seems like it will be crazy expensive to level it all the way with not as much return.
The only viable path for BSM for me is through Esoterics for Antiquated Hauteclaire or joining Ravana Extreme mount farms. And it's still ridiculous. Honestly, nothing good has happened for Desynthesis in the expansion. It's sad.
Only thing worth desynthing for since 3.0 are the glass fibers, and still, they got other sources. It was handy early 3.0 on to get materials to level up crafting, but since then.. err.. well, not really going out of my way to cap them. Weaver and goldsmith desynthings are caped naturally due to dungeon gears drops, armorer's is far behind.
Will it ever be updated?
The desynth level will be raised to 250 in the upcoming patch.
My Leatherworker is capped and GSM is at 201 now. Have tons of eso accessories in all my retainers that I plan to use to help me get close.
BSM is at 186 or so. I used Crystal Bells.
After that, I am guessing I will have to do eso (soon to be lore) weapons. I have a lot of blue scrips saved up to use also, but who knows if they will be necessary for something else in the upcoming patch.
Also, desynthing the blue scrip tools can give at least 4 glass fibers.
I'm guessing the red-scrip jewellery will get lowered to blue scrip level. Meaning 1 or 2 blue scrip tokens + a counterfoil(?) only for glass fibers. So glass fiber price should go down?
EDIT: Seems like rings are 2 blue scrips + a crafting / gathering receipt, shouldn't be too bad :)
Compared to Left side gear that have a chance to drop x2 Glass fibers, the accessories will likely only have a chance to drop x1 due to the difference in Blue Scrip token requirements. #Balance
I was expecting "Demicrystal" to be a mat acquired through high-level desynth, but....
According to the patch notes:
Demicrystal: Aetherial residue seeped forth from spiritbound weapons.
Does it mean we need to convert a spirit bound weapon? What weapon could it be?
EDIT: In the general discussion section, in reply to a similar post, this was said:
I hope this IS true, because I'm sure many of us have spent quite a lot time upgrading our desynths. I wonder though, if this "Demicrystal" is only available from weapon desynth...
If it's from weapon desynth it only gives us a couple options. We have some new "weapons" can be desynthed, although most are quite a high hurdle.
Sephirot Gear
Horde Gear
Crafter Secondary Tools (Item level 180)
Gatherer Secondary Tools (Item Level 180)
PvP Gear (Item Level 205)
Lore Gear (Item Level 230)
Lore Gear (Item Level 240)
Midan Gear (Item Level 220)
Midan Gear (Item Level 240)
Midan Weapons (Item Level 245)
I'm guessing the bold ones will be the only option for most people. I'll be trying them on the first day in, so I'll report the results here.
Good luck! I hope it's not just weapons or I have quite a grind ahead of me. XD
I kinda hope it Is ONLY weapons. Got my bsm desynth at 207 with goldsmith (for the ast and blm rods) at 220. >:D
When I read the description for Demicrystal I was imagining:
- Acquire a high-level crafted weapon or weapon drop. Equip until spiritbond is 100%. Desynth with a 10% chance of obtaining Demicrystal.
If that's the case this will be a nightmare D:
The question is now, how high level does the weapon have to be to yield the crystal? What runs will be required to make a dent in the spiritbonding?
EDIT: If we're lucky it will just be like Demimateria of the Inferno etc. and it just comes from certain weapon and gear drops.
I thought that too for a second.
The question I was wondering though is "What high level weapons can be desynthed?" We only have a few.
If this is indeed the case, the "Heavy Metal" Weapons (IL 250) won't be available immediately.
Another thing I was considering is that these Demicrystals could be sold by vendors in exchange for crafting scrips, seeing as the patch notes did see the Scrip vendor sells additional items.
Same, demi grind here we come :/
So the Demicrystals are bought for 50 Lore each.
And as far as I can see, no HQ version (unless it is given from IL 200+ weapons)
Did some desynthing on IL 230 Leather items and Goldsmith items and nothing special came out. Lots of Battlecraft Demimateria III. Maybe just bad luck?
Desynthed about 15 IL 180 gathering offhand items, and no demicrystals either. Just Mastercraft Demimateria, Glass Fibers, Aurum Regis Ingots, and Clear demimateria.
They don't seem to give anything special.
Not sure if it was mentioned, but someone said somewhere you can't get dissolvents or shark oils, proof you can:

this may have been posted, but does anyone have an updated list of fish that yield grade IV materia when desynthed? I know the Thunderbolt Eels yield SSIVs. Wondering what others have discovered. Also worth noting, these Eels can be collected via retainer ventures :D.
