I'm wondering what our Heros do, when they are wake up at night and are missing something important in the house.

I was actually thinking about this after having shortened the bathroom space in my cottage's basement from a 2x3 area (using the grid of the masonwork flooring) to be 2x2 & use that spare 1x2 to make some servants' quarters - I'm thinking that our characters' bodies are so evolved that, unlike all the other plebes in the game, we digest 100% of everything we eat and thus have no waste material.
(By the way, if you place the retainer's bell close enough to a door partition & use it, the door actually opens up as if the retainer is coming through the door)
- More housing items in Mansion should be 300 not 200 they are too empty and about 5X the size of a small house that has 100 slots so doesn't make common sense.
- More yard slots not everyone uses large items
- Dye-able wall paper and rugs/Stain-able wood walls and floors
- More partitions to match all ore most wall types and a door partition that is usable and not ugly
- More pictures or wall hangings that are not huge portraits or teeny tiny cityscapes. larger landscapes of heavens ward or still lifes would be nice
- at least 2 dinning room tables the size of the royal plotting table, give us some variety please without making us link 4+ smaller tables to make something different
- make all basic tables, chairs, couches and shelves dye-able
- make the lighting changeable per primary level not entire house

9. This is a big one: Delayed Binding of housing elements. As it stands right now the immediate binding of an item upon use is a big problem. Oftentimes, if not EVERY time, it's rather difficult to get a real idea of what an element is going to look like until it's placed. Immediate binding is an unnecessary mechanic and only serves to create inventory bloat. Give us some time, maybe 24 hours of real-world play time, to mess with area/room design before an item binds. If you want to limit this feature to non-star items to preserve rarity of the more challenging items, go for it. If that Glade Chair I just made doesn't work in my space I'd like to be able to give it to a friend or FC mate.
- A note you can put bound items in your FC chest and other players can get to it.
- but not having items auto bind on placement would be nice. even it i you could place it but not leave the housing option.
Obligatory :
- copy rift to allow for player design, creativity and 100% unique creations would add a much much needed depth to housing.
- need to be allowed to manipulate all furniture completely, bury it, suspend it, recolor it, RESCALE it etc
- need instanced housing
- need to double all item limits for all house sizes
- give access to all in game textures rock, snow, grass, water etc to allow customization of yards 100%
- lighting adjustments/floor not at set amount by game ...but a slider scale to adjust from any # between 0-100
- remove the slap on the hand punishment of furniture destruction when removed..just ridiculous
- remove limit of "1 item/plot" on any furniture that is just for visual pleasure (not gardens for example)
- add in many visual effects we can add to any outdoor or indoor item: items: ie/ glow effects, spotlight effects , sparkle effect ...etc
its endless ..many older games have surpassed ffxiv 5 fold, in fun and player creativity...would be nice for ffxiv to at least match those asap.

I really wish they'd make personal and FC houses one per account (one of each tops to clarify). That would go a long way towards helping matters alongside the idle house timer.
May have been mentioned, but almost 50 pages would be a bit to dig through, and I posted it in another thread. BUT, what would be nice is being able to buy or craft "musical" type furniture such as a record player or jukebox in order to change what background music plays in your house. Even if it's already recorded stuff that's in the game, it'd be nice to switch it up a bit, and it'd be another area to explore in future updates. :D
Really looking forward to that jukebox for a long time now. I feel like they will implement millions of different disk grades just to annoy our inventory space again.
Turning the plot grass into a snowfield would have been great for this event.
They should also let us buy old furniture from the calamity salvager if you have the event title.
Also, I hope they will implement an outside pool someday
I wouldn't mind having to collect tracts like random drops from raids, or gifts from special events that might be fun. Just so long as it's an item that is removed from your inventory but accessible forever after that, such the way chocobo barding or TT cards are made.
Final Fantasy XI had a feature in which you could "freeze" plants while they were growing, to have them double up as decorations. They'd stop growing and they wouldn't wither, you could even do this when they were ready to harvest and had that nice glow to them.
I would like this feature. You know, for when I'm done growing hundreds of Blood Peppers and those garden plots go back to just being empty space...
EDIT:
Improving on the existing Display Stand furniture, could we have a version which we can interact with? I very much want to have a "trophy room" sort of thing, and minions/mounts are a perfect way to implement that. Interact with the Display Stand, it pops up the minion/mount guide, and you can select a minion/mount to be displayed on it. Perfect.
I'd still want actual trophies, like those miniatures we have for Magitek/Odin/etc., you really need to expand that to include all Primals and notable bosses (Fenrir/Diabolos/etc.), but having the Display Stand showcasing minions/mounts would be really neat.
A few ideas that may have been brought up already:
- I'd like to see a few 'mirror' items. Both the sort that stand upright and those that can be placed upon a wall. They don't necessarily need to have an advanced reflection system but that would be pretty neat!
- Small water fountains/features. The sort that can be placed on the floor and the sort that can protrude from a wall. A lot of the fountains available right now are pretty huge - so having some smaller options for when space is tight would be pretty neat.
- Garlean furniture items. Perhaps one of those alarums that can be found in Castrum Meridianum/Keeper of the Lake (complete with the neat sound effect) and some inactive magitek reapers?
It would be nice to change the style of the door that leads to the company workshop. My FC is holding off on applying wallpaper to our home just because nothing seems to really match the door outside of the riviera wall. I'd also like a way to have multiple floor styles across the same floor, my FC has split the top floor into two smaller floors via partitions and it'd be great if I could have multiple styles to account for that.
I don't know what you are talking about, what are we missing? D:
Can we please have outdoor recipes for gourmets?
It would be great to be able to have breakfast out in the garden, or to put up a bowl full of seeds for the little birdies :)
Just have some snacks on the garden table of the FC for when some members get home late at night, or having a set of sake cups to enjoy the cherry blossoms with, and so on.
It would also help to let Gourmets participate more in housing. Currently, they have WAY less recipes than any other class on that topic.
Here a couple ideas I had, not sure if they have been suggested so far:
- add a "Skywatcher" NPC to the housing areas
- make interior walls dyeable
- add this amazing tree/lamp (that is currently used in the Heavensturn event) to outdoor furnishings:

Can we have it show on the sign outside of the house when a plot will become available? Have it only pop up maybe 3-5days prior to the house being reclaimed. Also, make it so that it is the server time the house has left, not real life time (since this would be subject to change due to maintenance or an outage).
So for recap, 3-5days prior to a house being reclaimed, have it show on the sign outside of that plot, the time left (server wise) until it is reclaimed.
ok so we now have a moogle house glamor.... now I demand a carbuncle house glamor...
Since we already have laundry pole, laundry basket would be nice to have for outside furniture.
I already wrote it once I think but can we private house owner please get the same functions as a FC house? At least let us buy more rooms. I really love my small mist house but there are so many nice housing items that a small one is not enough. We pay the same price but at the same time we cant even buy more rooms. Maybe make it 500k for each room and maybe limit the amount of rooms (would be nice if there is no limit ;)) but this would give us more space for decoration. You could even make it that house mates could buy their own too.
Since the private housing is not much different than the fc one, this should be not that complicated. I know that there will be arguments like "server space" but since you can already do that with a fc house I cant really see that since any house can be bought by a fc, so their servers should be able to handle this.
It would be nice if the partitions could have the same wallpaper as the room they're in. It just looks wonky when 3 walls of a room (with 1 wall as a partition) have one wallpaper and then the fourth wall has another wallpaper that you can't change.
I was just lost in the see also section of Wikipedia the other day and stumbled across this link on Salmagundi sometimes abbreviated as salmi. This would be such a neat food item for tables in FFXIV. Maybe it's a Limsan Lominsan dish since it also seems to be related to food served on pirate ships. Here's a link to a picture of what I'm thinking of in particular and lots more pics can be found on a Google image search. I'd use it as a replacement for the Stuffed Dodo platter during certain festivals of the year.
I can't help noticing how lacking the game is about painting. We've got portraits, yes, and in spades, but I'd really love actual landscape paintings for a change, or maybe even illustrations.
We already have some in the game, too. I would love to see them added as housing items:

You wouldn't even need to make any new art. FFXIV has an abundance of beautiful and stunning concept art that would look lovely in my living room. The fan kit and the concept arts featured in the game's artbooks would be great candidates. Wouldn't you like to see this illustration framed? Or this one or this one? We sure aren't starving for beautiful art with FFXIV, let us make our own personal art gallery!
Please give us the option to "preview" dye colors before dyeing exterior and interior fixtures/furniture!
I'd also love to have some of the decor/furniture/interior walls/floors from the "Ceremony of Eternal Bonding." Even just the flowers/plants or walls would be nice.
Greetings,
We previously mentioned a jukebox like furnishing called the Orchestrion, and this is finally confirmed for Patch 3.2. This furnishing will allow players to change the music inside the inn, housing, and personal chambers by collecting sheet music.
Since we made the announcement, our friends over in Japan received some questions related to this item, so I wanted to share this information with everyone.
The music played by the orchestrion can be heard by all players inside the house. However, since private chambers and the workshop are different areas, it will not apply to players who are in these areas.Quote:
Q: It mentioned that players would need to collect sheet music, does this mean that everyone who would like to listen to that music inside the house needs to have the sheet music as well, or would it play that specific music for everyone as long as the person who set the music has the sheet music?
Unlike the current existing musical instrument furnishings, this feature will change the BGM itself.Quote:
Q: Will the sheet music play an actual music, or just sound effects?
Will this item work in the outdoor housing area?
So how many extra housing item slots are you giving us you so we can actually use these? :0
He kind of just said private rooms (Personal Chambers) would be able to use it. Though it'd be separate from the actual house and would most likely require it's own Orchestrion in the same way that you're required to purchase your own TT thing to be able to play in your private room separate from the FC house.
I've mentioned this before but I'm going to say it again...
We need, I can't stress this enough, NEED a way to re-purchase previous seasonal event housing items if we took part in the event; similar to how we can do this for Seasonal Gear from the Calamity Salvager.
Paying the 500k - 1+ mil each subsequent year to players via the MB is NOT an acceptable solution. We shouldn't have to hoard/clutter our limited bag space with 20+ of each seasonal housing item in the chance that we may want to use those items at a later date (I'm looking at you Empty Twinkle Boxes and Cherry Blossom Trees). Especially considering items like wallpapers are consumed on use and can't be restored if we change away from them. I don't know about anyone else but I don't want to keep Christmas Wallpaper up year round. :/
I would really love a seasonal tree. Something the size and shape of the cherry blossom tree would be great. It could be dynamic based on seasons or maybe it could be changed by clicking on it. Cycling through clicks would be my preference, but I don't know how doable that would be. How about colored blossoms (or even budding blossoms) for spring, green leaves for summer, orange and yellow leaves for fall, and bare branches for winter?
Above all else, it would be nice to have a taller generic looking tree with green leaves, if anything above is just asking too much. The Thanalan and Shroud trees are just not big and leafy enough.
Speaking of trees, some dead and rotten looking trees would be a neat addition for people who want some creepy outdoor items. Maybe some sort of gravestone as well?
Can't agree enough with that. I love the wallpapers they have for seasonal events but I don't want to stare at a bat or a pumpkin or a snowy winter landscape all year long when I look out my window and see bright summery sunshine. Most important though: Cherry Trees. They are 8 Million on my Server! Eight! I mean... EIGHT!!!! >_> I don't even... I'm sitting on two unused of those currently from when I bought them at the NPC and it never was such a tough decision to sell something or not. There needs something to be done about it.
I finally managed to get a house last Christmas.
atm I am having only one pet peeve and that is why on earth does the character port in so far from the door? I wanted to make a nice hallway with a counter for my servants but when enter the house I end up getting stuck in the wall >_>.
