Yes, but this is FFXIV, not GW2. What in-game balance are you refering to? There is no PvP yet in this game and even if there were, the PvP could be adjusted seperately, so why not simply introduce a "buy gil" option like in F2P games and GW2? Why does it matter to you if someone else paid money to get better equips than you, if those equips won't matter in PvP or if you never play PvP to begin with?
And before you say "game balance": you can make sure you got items that are not overpowered so that the gameplay is balanced for you. Why would it matter if some chooses to pay to make the gameplay for him easy-mode?
You see, you need a strong foundation to build an opinion on, otherwise it is just some random line you draw. The foundation I use is: I do not think it is okay for a company to sell anything in their item mall that is a part of an important aspect of the game. That's why it is ok for LoL and PoE, but not for GW2 nor FFXIV to sell vanity items there.
