Joined a random DF in Tam Tara the other day and got teamed up with a newbie tank and his DPS friend who was showing him the ropes. All was perfectly fine, the tank did quite well.
Since it's Tam Tara, I heal in Cleric Stance and don't even bother turning it off for heals, fairy does fine on her own and nobody was ever in any danger of dying. However, the DPS friend decided that I was a newb healer who was giving a bad example to the tank and I got booted for "not doing the maximum healing I can do".

Yesterday evening I queue for trial roulette as a WHM and get The Crysalis (spelling???).
Me and SCH buffs everyone up and we are ready to go... Maybe. We waited 2 minutes, probably the tanks were waiting to see if someone bailed or something; when the silently self appointed MT pulls, I actually hoped that the OT would take over.
Why, you may ask: MT pulled without Grit, while OT had it active.
DPS immediately got aggro one after the other, until the MT started to tank again. Sadly even pre casting heals on the DPS wasn't enough to save them from Spark.
Both me and the other healer starts to frantically heal and raise the dead, and we manage to not cause a wipe.
When the boss goes in the middle of the room and the orbs starts appearing I die because I was too late to realize that I was in the way of 3 same colored orbs, as I was more concentrated on healing.
While I was on the floor I ask for Grit with auto-translate (after assuring myself with FC that it's the right name, I have yet to pick up DRK) but the tank ignores it.
SCH raise me and we continue.
The OT became MT and the run goes smoothly from there on, even the white room.
If that SCH happens to read this, I wanted to let you know that you were amazing! And I am sorry that you had to waste your MP to raise me from my derp orb death. :(

Edit: now that I think about it... Grit's icon is blue right? Then I guess neither of them was using it, OT had the reddish one on...ugh, cba to rewrite everything.

I was doing A1 normal last night, and everything went as usual until one of the missiles blew up without mini and one of the DPS started blaming my heals stealing the minibots' enmity.
Even after making sure I didn't get aggro from following waves, they kept screwing up one missile and blaming me, by the end I had half of the group chastising me.
It was a miracle we didn't wipe, since we ended eating three missile impacts back to back.

There is nothing more infuriating that getting scapegoated for other people's mistakes.

I've had so much of failing parties on that lately... I've been spamming A1 about 20 times to get my bolt since tuesday... half of those ended up disbanding for dps not handling mechanics at all.

I've learnt recently that A1 normal got patched recently; adds cannot be seen by DPS until they've been tethered by someone else.

Right now, when I farm A1 normal, I will always tether the adds of the tank I'm healing. For some reason, DPS will then come and kill the adds that are attached to the healer, but if I don't they leave them alone.

So lesson learnt; don't trust DPS to get the tether. Tether them yourself. WHM and AST can cast Aero III/Gravity as the oppresors are using Emergency Deployment, while SCH can Bane dots after the adds have spawned to tether them.

Not using Grit I can see, assuming the DRK in question had the gear for it, but not using Darkside as a level 50+ DRK? All I can say is wow...

Bad Aurum Vale run.. at time when I wish I was the tank...

We wiped so much I lost count. 20 minutes were blown just from the first room alone. As before I made some of my own mistakes, but the tank errrrr. Dear PLDs, please flash after you pull. If I toss regen or a cure, I'm going to get smacked by 2-3 mobs.. 4 of my deaths were incurred from being gangbanged by mobs. I felt like I was being farmed..


I also learned how much I can handle even if I'm ready for it. Big nasty pull, and chain cure II just didn't cut it(including some Cure IIIs). I don't know.. maybe if she put up convalescence, but she used it in the last pull.

Biggest upsetting thing in this run came against Coincounter. NIN dies, and I had already blown Swiftcast earlier for a much needed quick Cure II(also freecure proc). I heal the tank up to full, and I start raise. Tank is ok for the entire cast. AS SOON AS THE NIN GETS UP, TANK GOES FROM FULL HP TO 0(did not dodge 100 ton swing..). WHAT THE HELL?!

Lots of crap later, we clear the run. The tank apologized for the bad run. Wasn't really mad at her, just some things she could have done to make my life easier. Having 5 stacks on the last boss doesn't help ._.

Long time lurker of this thread, but here is my first horror story.
Started an exp roulette, fractal pop. Team is : me as SCH, DRK, a good but slightly undergeared SMN and an ok DRG.
We start as usual, I adlo/stoneskin the tank before pull, this way, with a rouse Whispering Dawn, I can dump all my dot + shadow flare on the mobs, this was the plan like in 99% of my exp roulette.
This was the remaining last %.
The tank life start dropping so fast I couldn't even start using my whispering dawn and I had to lustrate, then spam adlo.
After that panic mode, I notice that the DRK wasn't using Darkside, told myself that he forgot, but I'm already starting to have a bad feeling.
Second room, tank's life start dropping again, still no Darkside in sight, and I'm starting to realize something terrible, he's not using any cd, and I mean 0 cd at all, the only thing in the buff bar is protect + grit.
We reach the 1st boss, the tank use Darkside (finally), but never use a single CD during the entire fight, nothing much to say because the boss is rather easy.
Just after the boss, the tank drops Darkside, I finally ask him why he's not using Darkside for trash mobs, his answer : "I'm not a good mana manager".
I'm pretty baffled about discovering probably the only lvl 60 DRK I saw that still don't know how to manage his mana but I don't make anymore comment.
Next pack, still 0 CD in sight, not a single one, only protect + grit again, and again the mobs take a long time to drop with me not dpsing and the drk not using Darkside.
I decide to do a little experiment and I let his life bar drop to 2-3k to see if he starts using something, anything.
He did, he used bloodbath when he was at 2k hp.
We finally reach the 2nd boss, and that tank didn't dodge any of the attacks, he was taking everything in the face with no buff in sight again.
At this point, my nice healer threshold ended up reaching critical point.
With the next pack (the one with all the "dolls"), I start dpsing and not healing him, the pack dies really fast but he still ends up dying just before the end.
"WTF" "Why no heal?" was his answer, to which I answered : "No CD = no healing CD" (dick move I know, but he played with my patience too much).
Then he dropped the bomb : "good DRK don't use CD" followed shortly by "I saw lot of DRK not using CD". I didn't know how to respond but the SMN just dropped "you're a bad tank then".
He then started to get all pissy angry because I was just a bad healer and that good tank don't need CD and I should just shut up because my DRK isn't 60 and I know nothing, until he said he'd let us tank the end of the dungeon.
We just answered "okay", then the SMN summoned Titan-Egi and we kicked him.
We got a good DRK just before last boss and end up laughing about it with him until we ended the dungeon.

Wow..just wow. Any tank not using CD is a major MP sink. . . .
