To healers:

If the tank is dying and you're spam-healing them, yet they're still somehow dying, kindly check to see whether or not you had Cleric Stance on, or if your gear is broken, or if you were actually healing the tank, before blaming the tank's death and the subsequent wipe on the tank. It's rather annoying for me to specifically call you out to tell you that you have Cleric Stance on while spamming heals, only to be completely ignored.

Considering that, personally, I first learnt how to turn Cleric Stance on and off at... level 6 of CNJ, I don't think anyone has an excuse for not knowing how to do this at level 60 of any healer job.

Lately I've been going to roulettes with my newly fully geared MNK, and more often than not end up with one boss or another turning my way and tank-busting my face then waltzing back to the Tank...

Happened to me on the first boss of Sohm Al HM yesterday and last boss of Baelsar's Wall the day before... :/

LOL, try this on Diabolos goes into his Hollow form. I was in a run that Diabolos would just turn and 1 shot each player that wasn't a tank. I wasn't even mad, it was actually hilarious. The entire raid was wiped from his crits except for the 3 tanks who were somehow the last on the aggro list (except one of them who was just recently raised, so that I understand).

This is the story on how we almost got locked out of the Vault. I'm a BRD and we have a DRK, DRG, and WHM. Now off the bat I notice the WHM is using Medica 2 A LOT. Even after the first pull im doing Mage's off and on because they get so low. We beat the first boss no problem. I'm like okay no big deal, but I forgot how annoying the vault is.

I then notice he is Holying without cleric. Only using Medica 2 even if we are about to die, OR have full HP. Second boss we wipe AT LEAST 6 times. The DRG is pretty bad and keep standing in stuff but he is trying. WHM also dies a lot. I'm getting really annoyed by the time we get to the final boss and no one seems to notice and WHM just blames DRG. So we wipe to what's his name with the flame orbs like...6 timesish. I tell WHM if you want to DPS do it with CS on. "I usually don't dps i've never had a problem etc" I sigh because that's the least of the problems tbh. So this time CS is on and he DPS orbs and we make it...he continues to heal with CS on and he dies. I said to myself "Okay its been over an hour I have been super patient, I'm kicking him" It goes through and the tank its kind of annoyed but me and DRG were like UM...

SO, we get a new WHM instantly. We wipe one more time and I get asked to be closer to the boss so he can heal me better. I am really done right now so I'm like okay?? fine. Beat it way easier. DRG dies again (he did die a lot). DRG leaves and tank says "....he really did suck" LOL

For real that was the worst run I have ever had and I was so scared to kick someone because I'm too nice but you know it's bad when I actually have to do it. :(

Forgot to add we had less than 10 minutes left before lockout!!!!

I've seen this about 3-4 times in the last month alone and it's one of the many reasons I'm giving up tanking in the DF. The other big one being dps who just do whatever they want. Like, it's honestly just getting annoying because everyone is ready to jump on the tank the moment they make the tiniest mistake, but chatting instead of healing? dps pulling before the tank? dps pulling extra mobs? dps attacking every other target except the one you specifically marked? "Nah, it's fine. Just chill out lolz"

I'm just done.

Got out of Baelsar's Wall with an lolBLM. He had an ilvl 200 weapon. I was able to out aggro him with grit off....WHUT! NONONONO, I'm supposed to be fighting for aggro against BLMs with Grit on. Oh lord it was terrible. I dunno what his rotation was, I just know he was never more than 25% full on his little aggro bar. We spent almost an hour there, wiped on every boss at least twice. That was cause the DPS couldn't even kill the adds =/ (though to be fair, the BRD had a Padjali bow, the WHM had the highest weapon of the squad.

I have the Kinna weapon at 255, and I'm able to keep aggro off people with ~280 weapons. I dunno what the minimum ilvl is for the newest dungeons, but it better be more than 200.

Sastasha hard, had a newbie, and a tank who couldn't hold aggro worth shit. At first boss, when they all had the debuff, and just as I was about to get to debuffing the monk, the boss targets him and he dies. I res him, up he gets and snarks, "i'm a low level, PLS HEAL". Being so attacked, I explained the mechanics to him and complete silence across the board. After, our lovely tank who has been pulling one small group up to this point, decides he'll pull every single group at the phase before final boss, failing to aggro half of them, which promptly turned to me when I had to heal his fast dropping health and splat goes the healer. Respawned and I was promptly kicked out of the instance.

The hell?

I was DF'ing a Dusk Vigil run a couple of weeks ago. It was a bonus DF; two of us were level sync'd, two weren't.

I was rusty and slow, and apparently so were a few others (I was SMN). We managed to wipe on the first boss.

The tank player promptly left.

We sat there for maybe a minute hoping to fill, when the NIN player asked "Hey SMN can u tank?"

I said "Me? You mean with Titan-egi? Well, we can try..."

I've had enough PLD experience I was able to keep the egi positioning properly, and our healer, an AST, kept our "Tank" alive, and we successfully 3-manned that first boss, with good old Topaz Carbuncle ( :) ) as our meatshield.

A good, friendly DRK dropped in right after, and the rest of the run was cake - we'd all shaken the rust off and it was high speed, low drag from there. But it felt good to get a basic win with my mad (right) SMN skills.

I'm sad to report that my little sister pulled that in Aurum Vale last night. Except hers was her cat meowing at her. And we had a brand new AV tank too.

It took so long, that at the end, my brother and I (we were both dps) had to give some quick pointers to the tank, and it hit the 5 minute mark.

At least we were done.

i can deal with just an a-hole, but after he went calling pple a prick he still wasnt using aspected after a while...so I threw his words right back at him.
Me: "pls use Aspected Helios noobist prick"

Tank 1: (to me) "stop being a dick enough"
DD 1: (to me) "just stop being a prick"
Me: "what did i do??"
DD 1: "Argued instead of advised, insulted instead of taught"

At this point im kinda speechless and dont know if the DD never saw the other AST being a douche to start off with,
or if he's just trolling me.
Half the pt is wiping cause im the only one healing, the other ast is standing WITH the tank hello frontals.
At that point its a wipe and i try to explain that I only repeated what the other AST said to me and that i did only ask in the beginning, and even with a light tone....

I dont want to be in a misunderstanding pt so i say ill just leave but at the same time there is a vote to kick the other AST showing up,
I hesitate, but DD 1 puts the cherry on top with a douchy behavior (forgot what he said prior) and then an "Ok" immediatly,
So I let them keep their beloved non aspecting AST. I do hope they get a SCH in my place

Can't wait to read a horror/funny story about "Rescue" skill next month.

I logged in last night, I went to my official spot in Limsa where I do all my DF queues from, and I opened DF....and I thought about both the night before and this post. I closed DF, went back to the inn, logged off.

At least for last night, I too was done.

Had the fastest and most infuriating Ex roulette today. Que up as DRK and get Baelsars Wall. Party is a WHM, a NIN, and a MNK I think. I notice healer is in CS right from the start. Cool. A healer who DPS's, I think to myself. First pull goes alright but I notice my health dipping really low even with CD's. The second pull is where everything went to shit. I pull the mobs on the bridge and here comes the third set of mobs. I pull aggro on em and position them all on the bridge. I put Shadowskin up and notice that the heals I'm getting are super weak. Look up and the healer is in CS. I throw up Shadow Wall, then convalescence. Health dips below 1k and I'm dead before LD registers that I've used it. My DRK is 267 and I always used CD's so I'm not squishy by any means. The healer immediately takes off CS and I think, ok, simple mistake, no big deal. I respawn and the MNK dies next. The MNK immediately leaves. Whatever. The dude wants to wait out 30 minutes plus another long ass dps que? That's his problem. We replace him immediately with a BLM. Meanwhile, the WHM and NIN are in the midst of dying, and before I can even welcome the BLM to the group and acknowledge the precarious state of affairs we're in, they promptly left. Wtf? Would you really rather suffer a penalty on top of long ques before you even understand the situation? Healer dies, NIN dies, and then the healer leaves without a word. So I said f*** it and left too. Took less than 5 minutes to start and abandon that dungeon. Luckily I had no penalty and got into a slightly better group, but the BRD sang Army's Paeon the entire time. No one said anything. At that point, I just wanted my ex roulette to be done. What a way to start the morning.

Less of a story, more of a search. Ran The Vault with an Au Ra PLD. Real patient guy. Couldn't talk to him cuz I was on console and didn't feel like getting my keyboard. Kept cool under wipes. We finish the run and he asks me what server I was from. Saw it last minute as I left. Feeling like a rude jerk, I tried to send him a tell cuz n00b. So I'm basically lookin' around to apologize to him, lol.

If it hasnt been to much time since that run you can check the last 50(?) people you've played with now! Will tell you the name and the servers they're from - the social menu now has that option of "people you've last played with", so you could try to check there?

Been doing the HW msq with a friend and my god what the hell is wrong with 'The Vault'?

I've never had an issue as a tank but 4 times now through roulette my friend got it with me in her quest to level her job to 60 and 3 of those 4 times went on for 70 minutes.

How is it possible to que for a dungeon as far into the story like that and be so garbage at your job?

First time, the healer kept dying due to the balls in the first fight and getting vulnerability stacks in fight 2

Second time a dragoon came in with broken gear and over time the healers gear broke as well and was impossible to clear the dps-ish check on boss 3 which lead to vote abandon

Third time a healer wasn't confident in their ability so we went slow. They consistently failed to heal the party and my god I've never had to use clemency so much. But even clem couldn't save from wipes. It lead to everyone's gear breaking except mine, because, you know, I actually repair my gear before quing?

Honestly, this is just appalling

I just got through Sohm Al HM in 16 minutes flat, from start to finish. I honestly had no idea it was even possible to get it done that fast. I feel like I've been... enlightened, or something.

The leveling dungeons of Heavensward are more difficult than the level 50 dungeons from A Realm Reborn, and they're on an upward curve. By the time you get to the Vault it's painfully obvious who has a good grasp of their job and who doesn't. Groups suffer especially in there from bad healers because of the healing checks, but a bad tank will also sink the group.

I get The Vault all the time in leveling roulette, and as I get more experienced (done it like 15-20x now), the trouble spots are pretty much fixed on the 2nd and 3rd boss, the big pack of flying mobs that appear right after you kill the archpriest that is just before final boss, the 1st boss' globe mechanic, and rarely, the first of the two "big statue" fights where they jump down from the walls. Died there a couple times because new healers don't expect that much dmg.

When I used to be the weak link (tanking), it was always 3rd boss when the line of knights appears or a mistimed CD, or the second boss and not positioning him away from his void circles properly. Having fought both so many times, I don't really screw them up anymore. The Vault is the first serious example in the HW dungeons where experience makes it feel really easy, and inexperience makes it feel really hard.

My last Vault run I was the only one who a) had run it before and b) was higher than level 57. We struggled. Finished it, but I had a pretty stout repair bill.

The other day I was healing Library HM for my AST relic weapon. Got a SMN, BRD, and WAR tank. The first boss goes fine, no real issues, but I notice during the trash after the second boss that the BRD is playing Army's Paeon. Not Foe Requiem for the two casters DPSing, but Army's Paeon for himself, from the start of the pull, even before he ran low on TP. Maybe if the WAR was low on TP, I could understand, but he wasn't either? And um... the pull wouldn't have lasted long enough FOR anyone to run low on TP if the BRD just played Foe Requiem?

So during the second boss, BRD starts with Mage's Ballad, even though no one is low on MP. Then he switches suddenly to Army's Paeon even though no one is low on TP. The SMN writes something like "You don't need any of the songs you're playing."

So I asked politely: "Could we get {Foe Requiem} instead?"

No change. Army's Paeon was still trickling away his MP. So SMN started spamming their "You don't need those songs you're playing" several times. The BRD wrote back, simply: "I know."

Uh... what???

Paeon finally fell off when the BRD ran out of MP.

The moment the second boss was dead, the vote kick for the BRD popped up. It's been a long time since I saw a vote kick go through that fast. It's one thing to not know your class, but when you're playing songs you KNOW you don't need to... what... purposefully gimp your DPS? Time for you to go.

ok here's 2 From Cactaur Hell, (both are POTD vents)

first was a tank that didn't understand the fact "If you dont Stun the birb's Chirp (that AoE Sleep,.) and i get caught in it , i cant heal you, so of course after the 3rd time i as "for the love of.. can you please stun the sleeps?" he uses the "NA Server lag, not my problem" Excuse i've got EU Friends that have on average 178~220ms Ping w/o issue (and he's in Knottingham playing on Aether DC Worlds.), unless you got a Really Shitty Net or your in Australia, your Argument is invalid Good Sir. when the tank lit his mouth of saying "Lets see you do better with stuns" Hello... Mc Fly. HEALERS DONT GET A SLEEP THAT ISNT JOB ACTION! (i dont think SCH's Get any kind of stun either) (leveling CNJ atm so i dont have my WHM Job crystal) and large enemies dont get knocked back by fluid aura and those annoying birds are Immune to Bind (or atleast High Resist )so an excuse use Fluid Aura doesnt fly. i protest by Sitting and they start Mass pulling to try wiping the party, was having none of that so i left before i got marked in combat.

Second comes from what i just got out of on a Floor 40~50. again still on CNJ, anyway the first 4 floors our Bard (it was me as CNJ we had a Gladiator Tank a MNK and a bard) saw fit to Map every single room try to kill every single thing. when your on Floors 40~50 there's no damn'd need to kill every single thing Map every single room. "You may not be after upgrade chets , but i am, XP on your own time. (you dont run the last 10 floors for xp yo run it to get to the 50floor boss.)had said in a non Asshole manner "If you pull away from tank and were 2 to 3 rooms away from you dont expect me to sprint to your aid especially if we have multiple mobs to deal w/" he retorts with "Fine i can solo" and the Vote Dismiss prompt comes up. seems i wasn't the only one who thought "you want to solo Go Solo then!"


i'm no speed runner. by no means especially when i use the first 3 sections for XP. (even then i dont go outta my way to pull/kill that upsets teh party if they want to run /rush) but DPS should learn their place, if you too far from healer/tank your going to likely wind up dead and have no room to complain if i cant get to you in time or more to deal with, a healers priorities are to themselves and the tank Then DPS with DPS that's far away from you at the low end. (if you die as the healer it can be a potential Wipe tank ties and DPS cant keep it off healer everyone dies. so yea Cure priority Yourself/Tank, DPS around you > the DPS that feel they have main character syndrome and go off on their own)

your tellin me :D , ping that becomes an issue even in there! it isnt really until your 400+, 300 to 200 might make a split second difference to trying to get out of the bosses AoEs, but thats it.

And of course, just a few hours after clearing Sohm Al HM in 16 minutes, I queue up as DRK for Leveling Roulette, get Stone Vigil with a BLM that's synced-down from 50... and spamming Fire on pulls of multiple mobs.

I really don't feel like saying anything, until a pull goes wrong because I'm tanking 5+ mobs, that this BLM could've melted down if they'd just been using AoEs, instead of spamming Fire and forcing me to concentrate aggro on the ONE mob they're generating extra aggro on. Then someone pulls another couple of mobs from the back and we wipe. I asked them to please use Fire II and explained that it does more overall damage than Fire.

The response I got? "you play your class i'll play mine fire II sucks".

Somehow, I don't think that someone who uses Transpose instead of Fire III/Blizzard III, and who doesn't use Raging Strikes once in 30 minutes of a dungeon run, and who keeps using caster LBs on bosses instead of mob pulls, has any sort of authority to tell others how BLM works as a job. Especially not to someone who mains BLM and plays it infinitely better.

But, fine. Fine, that's just the typical response you get for trying to help a bad player. What else am I to expect? God forbid people actually listen to good advice being offered for free.

In case you weren't aware, there are a couple ways to avoid the chirp other than stunning it. It does have a large aoe, but it is possible to be out of range of it. Usually what I do if I'm with a pug and see a bird is to make sure I'm at max range to begin with and then run away when the cast bar starts. That way I can run in and esuna people again. It also works off of line of sight so if you can find a corner to duck around then that works too. Stunning is best obviously, but I've learned to not trust pugs with the ability to do this consistently.

WHM does have a sleep. I do forget if it's whm specific or if CNJ has it too. Repose happens around level 40 iirc.

Dun Scaith yesterday as BLM.
Nothing fancy,the Caster Boots droped and there are other 2 caster in my alliance.
Both of their HP are less than 20k while my HP are 22k.
I rolled the Boots for 90 but its just for my retainer So I said in chat log before everyone finished their roll.
"Any of you need this boots ?" I said
No respond of course and the roll result was here:
Me rolled 90
Caster1 rolled 97
Caster2 rolled 99

Now i get it why both caster didn't say anything
Because they were pretty confidence in their roll numbers.

Meeting tons of super cool people in PF for A11S learning groups! Met some nice people from Jenova today. We did some A11S learning, and after taking a break from that, decided to farm A4S for the Gobwalker mount. Really wishing cross-server friends lists and linkshells were a thing already!!

Stuff like this wonders if the job lock on the right was to help with the "less the DPS gap"

The lost city of amadoar, SMN had a i150 book and BRD had wrong right side, extremely high hp.Highest DPS? WHM with the SMN under the tank, even on bosses.

Sohm AI (hard)
WHM had almost the highest dps, but the blm did a small amount better, BRD with wrong right doing tank damage.

The great gubal library (hard)
A brd with a level 52 weapon doing 400 dps aoe damage and 275 DPS on bosses, and yes it is 3 digits, I did not forget a "1"

Today:
a1s wipe due to lack of DPS, 1 bard doing less then one of the tanks, no one breaking 2k DPS, instant break after the one wipe.

Me doing baeslar's wall. I am told "gotta relax. Lol" because 2 dps thinks it is funny to take 2 minutes to kill the first pull. I messed up tossing my own dps this pull because of the sloppy -.- (no i am not trying to shoe horn the meme) pulling on this one. After tossing my own dps the speed was tolerable. Repeatedly hit by extreme caution, even after I told them how not to get hit by it. 32 min run, almost died to the first collar (we saw 2 collars =/ that slow) me carrying the run, no coms.

I ended up getting into a Dun Scaith in progress. I get into a lot of Dun Scaith in progress. Usually it's just people dropping after getting their desired loot (or lack thereof, knowing the rest of the bosses don't have the desired item in their loot table), or groups wiping at the Queen or Diabolos.

This time, I bore witness to an entire alliance wiping to Proto Ultima BEFORE Supernova phase. Did you know that if the Proto Bits are left alone or Ultima's HP remains high enough to not trigger Supernova phase for a while, Ultima goes back into bomb phase again? It was pretty surreal watching everyone that was still alive running around while dodging the AoEs from the Proto Bits at the same time.

Did Sohm Al Hard for expert roulette with a tank and monk that queued together.

For the entire run, the tank was frequently stopping to type out all the recently announced Stormblood changes to his monk friend in party chat.

I'm not against chit-chat, but there's a time and place for lengthy conversations. Duty Finder groups are not that place.

I love it when ranged DPS complain about lack of heals and dying after we tell everyone to stack in the center for AOE heals, and they remain off in Siberia. Not my fault you're 20 malms away. Move in, or don't get healed. I'm not going to run all over the map and chase you down.

Got a Weeping City the other day where the tank kept either
1. Not moving Calo at all. This is fine for me! I know how to dodge that AoE! But anyone who was new wouldn't and didn't rip you new kids.
2. SPINNING HER. Not TURNING, mind you. He was SPINNING HER. Killing a good third of the alliance multiple times.
3. Not moving her back to the center of the room after her charge.

I managed to survive all of that and get my party back up, but cheese and crackers tanks like that make me wish there was a way to do negative comms to someone.

If I'm too far for heals, I blame myself. If I'm standing right next to a healer (and I have AM'd to them) and get no heals when I kinda need them... u wot?
I may have Manaward and Manawall, but sometimes I just don't have enough HP to survive what breaks through.

Oh no, this was in A12N I was helping out in for a friend's WHM friend who is returning to the game after almost two years. And a BLM died and said something in chat. I went to raise them, and they were on the other side of the map from the party.

Nothing interesting. Look at the roulette list just for laughs, and i see level 60 has DPS listed as adventurer in need. My reward will be like 5k gil! Ok, its a joke of a reason to do a roulette youve already gotten paid for, but Adventurer In Need DPS is rare enough to justify it. Less then a minute later im confirming the duty.

So i load into... ARF. Woof. Im already feeling deflated. Tank and healer both say upbeat things in party chat, and everyone starts running forward. Paladin grabs the first group... a little slowly... and starts running toward the pop-up wall and the second group that comes with it. Monk is just... ok, i have no idea what the monk was doing. I didnt look. Paladin stops just short of the pop-up wall. Both me and the astrologian run past thinking he'll keep going to the wall. AST triggers the 2nd group, and the tank kinda groups everything together. Im tossing out Fire 2s and Flares - all aoe pulls are the same unless you have to dodge something. Fight is going smoothly, but the healer messes up somehow and the tank dies shortly before the mobs do. I have 2nd aggro, so i die next. Fight is finished off by monk, healer, and tank who at this point had run back far enough to help.

So the healer apologizes, something like "Sorry, my bad". Im thinking OK, small issue but we should be fine.

Tanks response? "Dont pull ahead of me." All i can think is why did you pull the first group 90% of the way to the second then stop? If you wanted to go group by group, kill them where they spawn.

And i knew right then that i wouldnt be able to take it. "I can already tell i dont want to do this dungeon with you folks. Have a nice day." I leave before the tank can move toward the next group, eat a penalty that meant absolutely nothing to me(i had already finished my roulettes), and used those 30 mins to get some crafting and gathering done while feeling much better about myself. No idea if they were together, though they were all from the same server. To the AST i abandoned: I hope you got out, that guy was clearly going to be more annoying than a run of ARF is worth.

Edit: And i can now confirm that i was right about the lights too. Ran one roulette today, got a robust, and my lights were done. Now for the victory lap!
