I'd understand if that were the case (healer not taking any pre-emptive action) but when I've already shown I'm ahead of the attacks and have it covered, and they still insist on doing it, I find it annoying. Besides, if he's setting up for a Double or Triple Spark, there's no way I'm staying in CS anyway.

It's like ACNs who constantly Physik themselves when there's no need - not only are you not trusting me to do my job, you're wasting time that should be spent doing yours.

The latter case is infuriating because it kills their DPS. If they could heal the mobs to death, I wouldn't mind, but obviously that's not the case. Hence why healers DPSing = good and DPS healing = stop wasting time.

The former case I understand, but it's more irritating because it's usually an example of gratuitous Stoneskin. Unless you are doing content at the minimum ilvl (and playing with tanks who don't manage CDs correctly), that Stoneskin really isn't very helpful. I'd much rather that the tank keep whacking the boss and allow me to zap him back up with one or two big heals than have one or both of us consume an additional GCD for unnecessary mitigation.

I generally see it as subpar PLDs that have no experience with damaging tank busters and having to rely on a cooldown rotation if SS is all they are going to use. It's part of playing the tank job well, using appropriate mitigation for the situation. That is like saying a BLM should use Physick when they can to heal up damage because they have the skill killing their DPS. No, they should use the right mitigation skills for their job: Eye and/or Apoc to allow them to keep going. Same with tanks, instant cooldown while still hitting the boss.

Slow stoneskin casting time for 10% that maybe too late once it hits, which a healer can or likely already casting on you? Or Rampart instant 20%+? A lot of times we know they are even saving even Sentinel in their back pockets, but for what? Hallowed Ground is the only one saved for getting sucked in the portal.

Pretty obvious the "farm" tank that eats all 3 tapas to the face are pretty new to the role in Ravana EX, it's even the same pattern as hard mode. Just hurts...a lot more.

The one does not exclude the other, a tank CD could still be used.

Comparing that to a DPS casting physick is totally off it's pathetic...

It's obvious to everyone that the PLD stoneskin is not necessary there, my point was it's not worth being mad about said tank for using it.

I donno. I know a real cool guy on giglamesh that you can probably try and be friends with.

Just did an Alex 3.. Friend ran a parse. Whm cohealer complained of low mana and I commented I saw medica 2 a lot. Friend checked skill listing...

10 medica 1
27 medica 2
0 assize
0 cure 1
5 cure 2
0 cure 3
0 regen

....the dps was really low, too. Not 1, but 2 blobs hit the electricity with me dpsing.. And I had to help heal.

Similar experience recently, actually.

Doing Alexander 1 with two friends, running a parser because they were interested in their numbers. I go in as a White Mage, and I get an Astrologian co-healer.

Standard fare, buff up, Diurnal Sect, walk over to Faust and all that. I scratch my head when the Astrologian casts Aspected Helios when fighting Faust, and repeated Helios castings after that. No worries, the off-tank is able to get mobs off of her in a timely fashion, despite constantly overwriting her Aspected Helios HoTs and using Helios like once every five seconds.

The same process repeats for the Oppressor and its plainer twin, naturally. I guess it's a bit more useful to AoE heal on that fight compared to Faust, but...

Once everything's done, I get curious to see what the Astrologian's overhealing looked like.

Well, I dunno what others think, but I'd personally be very upset if I somehow ended up with 94% overhealing. If anything, I was impressed she managed to maintain her MP for so long without a Mage's Ballad, but still... :p
