I don't understand why some people seem to think it wasn't ok to kick her. She was actively refusing to co-operate with the party. I spent honestly over 10 minutes asking her about it, nicely and politely, explaining that if she would use Holy it would stun the monsters, the tank would take less damage, stuff would die faster and it would simply be really helpful for the whole party. Then she replies with "I play however I wish!!!!11111!!" (until after the first boss she didn't actually even reply at all but was also ignoring the group chat and refusing to talk to us) and somehow that is more acceptable? It's team content. If your team asks you to do something that you can very easily do to help them out and you flat out refuse without any reason other than "nah don't wanna", then your team has every right to remove you.

I went in as Summoner since melting the enemies away with aoes is just so satisfying.

My party members:

A Ninja that argued against big pulls (even though they were severely overgeared) because they didn't want to use Death Blossom apparently

A White Mage that was stuck in their childhood

And a Warrior who, to be honest, was the most civil out of them but he had a 235 weapon so my dps gave him some trouble (but I also forgot to use Quelling most of the time because most of my parties don't need it)

I load in, say "hello! biggest pulls please" and the Ninja already sighs. Tank proceeds to do big pulls anyway, no one dies and we continue. Our Ninja is using their single target rotation even though there are like 5 or more enemies present all the time.

I won't post more of the chatlog because it was pretty much just more of the same.
Tank got a bit flustered because I took aggro from him during the second boss but at the end he apologized, saying that this wasn't his best performance, so I gave him my com because self-reflection is pretty rare in Duty Finder.

had double summoners in EX and lvl 60 roulettes this morning (sohm al and gubal lib!); feels so good when the mobs melt away from that onslaught. I'm gonna have to find a better way to add in "can't believe it's not butter!" for a macro lol.

Ran Sohm Al hm the other day in roulette. I just returnes to the game last week ir so, long enough to catch up on story and unlick all the dungeons so there are a few places I have only been to once or twice. Anyway, zone in to Sohm Al hard and immediately Gandalf it. No memory whatsoever, and I'm the tank. I did small pulls because I didn't remember the place, plus the first time I was there was as drg. We finished, but it took 35 ir 40 minutes, plus I still have issues avoiding the second boss's attacks.

A12N, second time, first time on tank. OT because I was drk and MT was pld. Did good grabbing adds, etc. Forgot that fight needs tank LB3, the MT did not use it either, wipe. Got it on second try.

Halatali, pugilist wearing no right side gear, and no pants or belt and the gear they were wearing was level 14 and below.

Am I allowed to try to kick in that situation? I don't understand why there is not option for that in the kick options. Ended up leaving group due to emergency anyway but I find it absurd that someone does that.

You're allowed to kick anybody for any reason (personal/bias/having a bad hair day etc), but the question is more how often will it get through, before your team mates will either kick you for spamming the removal button, or declare you as sheer insane. Always need to keep that in mind, also it's a leveling dungeon even with these slots equipped, you are not going to have the pugilist doing extreme dps, or anybody for that matter but I can see why it would irk someone. But back to the question, if you feel for whatever reason you'll like to kick someone, go ahead and hope your party agrees or doesn't read the little pop up.

Or you could be old school and ask why the person is missing there pants, just make sure you phrase it right, don't want to get reported for sexual harassment. This by the way wouldn't surprise me anymore with the current players but let's move on, there have been plenty of times I forgot to equip something, because i switched from high level to low level, df pop'd and well I just forgot. But someone pointing it out made me equip it as well as got my com for being helpful and mature about it.

Guess you've to figure out what way you would like to go.

I'm of the mindframe that DPS don't get to dictate the size of pulls. Sure you can have a say but I feel like whatever the healer and tank agree upon is what goes.

That being said I don't disagree with your annoyance at a non AOE-ing DPS.

Well... the first pull usually is representative of the whole run.
Even if a tank / healer isn't too confident in their abilities, they should at least give big pulls a try.
If the party wipes, it doesn't matter. Not much time wasted, since it is only the first pull.
If the party survives the pull and enemies didn't take ages to kill, even better. Now you know that big pulls are okay.
There is literally no downside to trying big pulls (if you don't count the 30~ seconds after a wipe).

Also, when I don't get to melt things as Summoner I become really sad. :(

It was no problem - I could clearly see you lagging at times, and I know how frustrating that can be. Especially on a healer, urg. x.x That SMN shouldn't have been so rude about an honest mistake that I've seen happen any number of times in Wipe City, especially when no one actually died from it. We weren't the team all down on the ground by the end of Ozma, after all. :p

You still did way more than the healer we kicked out after Forgall, at any rate. They should have been thankful you were just lagging here and there, dropping only one meteor on us - rather than... you know. Afking outside the boss arena, /sit'ing and making no effort to even act like they wanted to help. Never seen a kick go through that fast, lmao. I'd take a laggy healer over a lazy healer any day, for sure.

Was trying to farm some more A10S this morning, since I finally got 6 pages last night to buy my BRD circlet, and so I need to get pages to buy the healer headpiece. Well... I bounced around from PF to PF from about 10am until 1pm when I finally gave up, and only managed to get in 2 clears (funny enough, they were both with groups that had at least one bonus). The "farms" I joined were all traps. People were dying to Single Charge, dying to the ice, tanks weren't doing the swap correctly, facing the add towards the party so a lot of people got cleaved... I lagged a couple times and got caught in some of the OUT charges, but not nearly as much as some of the other members.

One of the groups I joined, the healer (who kept dying), openly admitted that they were Netflixing while in there. Not only were they my prey buddy (I was on BRD), but the other healer was not extremely familiar with healing the fight. So we had an inexperienced healer (who, in a clear group I'd had the previous night, claimed to have only healed the fight...guess they meant healed the fight once...) who would die to the ice trap more than anything, and another healer too busy browsing his Netflix app, but had the audacity to complain every time they died. ._.

In that same group, had a healer who acted shocked that BRDs were considered part of the speed-kill meta for raids, and then kept making comments about how they would BRD, but they disagree with having Blood for Blood as a cross-class skill, and refused to level lancer to 34 for it. Also refused to touch BRD again for raiding content unless SE removed B4B as one of its buffs. I was just like "Uh no. SE does not need to touch/remove any of my precious puffs. PotD Lancer to level 34; that's the most painless way to do it, and you won't even have to do any class quests for it." I was also kind of insulted that they were acting like BRDs are so weak. I know there's a ton of crappy BRDs out there, but just look at some of the BRDs' numbers in the top FFLogs parses.... BRDs are far from weak, even if we don't have DRG Disembowel/Battle Litany, NIN Trick Attack, and AST Balances buffing us....

I finally just gave up, and joined an A11S learning instead. Thank you, Cassandra, for all of your help! :D Got to see up to the shield/Blassty Charge, so hoping I can make it to towers soon, and hopefully clear by next weekend so I can look at learning and clearing A12S next.

Did blacklist someone though, because they joined a PF clearly labeled as LEARNING, where multiple people said that we were learning, and then got mad because we wiped twice, and left. Don't join LEARNING PARTIES if you are expecting to clear in one pull. Don't join LEARNING PARTIES if you are expecting them to be wipe free. The joined in on a second group I joined, and I informed the other members of what had happened in the last group, and they informed the person that, if they weren't okay with wiping a lot, then they needed to leave.

Person promptly left.

If you want an one-shot clear, get a group together that can one-shot A11S. Instead of posting your arrogant PFs about "A11S clear; know fight; 2-point strat; 3 mistakes / wipes = disband & blisted." I didn't even block them for leaving after 2 wipes; I blocked because of their PFs they continued to put up all evening. ._.

Queued for expert roulette and got Sohm Al HM and a WAR/BRD who amazed the hell out of me. We had a bonus but I turned a blind eye to that because even bonuse. s know no to stand in AOES right? Nah. The WAR proceeded to face tank everything and its amazing we got through the first boss. BRD didn't use WM even though he spoke english. Next set of mobs he ate every AOE and got 1 shotted. At that point I just ate the penalty and noped the heck out of there.

30 mins later, my group got through it without a scratch.

Here’s one of those (apparently) rare stories that isn’t actually bad! Had a really great run through Baelsar’s Wall tonight. Kinda hard to believe, right? I’m not sure if I’m really “allowed” to name other players here, so I’ll refrain, but if they see this:

Thank you guys for the pleasant and fun run! Everyone had such a great attitude, we made it through without a single hiccup and in record time, too. For someone who hadn’t been through that place in a while, our WAR did splendidly and I don’t run into very many MCHs (at all) that can output that kinda damage. Our AST was also really awesome, amazing heals and some cute macros! Had some good laughs throughout and I sincerely hope to run into each of you again sometime, maybe once the cross-server Friend List is enabled.

Sure, you're entitled to feel however you'd like. You're also entitled to your own opinion. That said, I don't remember saying anything about what was macro'd or how in/frequently those macros saw use. I just said they were cute.

Moral of my story was simple: Was a great run with some nice people for a change, thank you.

So I'm not entirely in the right on this one due to it being 2 a.m. at the time and my patience was not high, but I wasn't rude about it and there were some hilarious moments (the best was the novice network unintentionally chiming in from the peanut gallery lol) so here we go. Commentary is in the screenshot chat log, but the tl;dr version is that I was BLM and asked to be kicked from a level 52 dungeon because the healer couldn't keep the tank alive on the first trash pull. The rest as follows, and I went on to have a much better leveling roulette as I am sure they did as well.

but from the chat log and from what you said yourself the healer and the dps actually finished the mobs off because the healer kept the dps alive.
Now I wasnt there but it was only the first pull...for all you know, the healer might just had a distraction IRL from anything we dont know.

I wouldve understood that you wanna leave if you had stuck around for a while and it kept happening, but...seriously? After one pull?

Unless the healer was literally jumping around,doing nothing while watching the tank slowly die, I have no sympathy for this. Just eat the penalty then.

To be honest, they should have reported you. You may have technically been "polite" but deliberately refusing to participate in a dungeon (while also refusing to leave) is griefing and a reportable offence.

Going over the log, this is pretty much what they did. The healer cast a diurnal Aspected Benefic on the tank, then cast Helios, Essential Dignity, Benefic II, Benefic, and Aspected Helios in that order. No one but that tank had taken damage up to now. The tank had to use Hallowed Ground at this point. The healer then cast Aspected Benefic on themselves. The tank died immediately after. It was bad. During this, the tank used a bottle of orange juice, Flash, Rampart, Fight or Flight, Fast Blade, Circle of Scorn, Savage Blade, Spirits Within, Rage of Halone, Fast Blade, Convalescence, Shield Swipe, Savage Blade, Sheltron, Bloodbath, Rage of Halone, Fast Blade, Savage Blade, Awareness, Rage of Halone, Flash, Shield Swipe, Fast Blade, Savage Blade, Circle of Scorn, Hallowed Ground before dying so I don't think it was them. After the tank died and myself died, the healer cast Benefic and Benefic II over and over on them self keeping them alive until the tank ran back in (and had to use a Max-Potion.) I didn't notice that the tank had run back in at the time, so that's why they managed to survive.

But meh, like I said, I'm not entirely in the right, but this thread is to vent about DF and wiping to 3 level 52 trash mobs due to poor healing is worth venting about.

But mostly I wanted to post that hilarious novice network timing.

I wouldn't say you were in the wrong for the most part. But my main qualm is if you were tired and it was 2am and you were going to watch Drag Race or something to pass the time, you should've eaten the penalty once you saw that healer was going to be a pain to deal with. Drag Race normally goes for 40-50 minutes if you're watching without commercials, so you would've easily done something with the 30m penalty.

I personally had an issue with the gall that the healer had constantly going on about how you had no dignity and such when they're the one unable to heal a single person, a tank at that, through 3 mobs.

FYI, I guess the situation can be seen differently because the tank was offline at the right moment but under normal circumstances, you CAN ask to be kicked, however if they say no, and you stop helping the dungeon run and sit there till you are removed, that is called griefing and you can be reported for it.

Also going with what ErryK said, if you are going to log off for the night anyway, just leave and take the penalty without lip.

Leveling roulette today, taught me the definition of "clutch" tanking. Oh boy.

Vault as DRK, with a MCH, DRG, and AST. From the start, the AST is in Nocturnal Sect, and doesn't cast Protect on me at all. I decided to let it go, because if they want to make things harder on themselves, that is just not my problem.

We move on. At Adelphel, the DRG dies. At Grinnaux, the MCH dies. Both fights, the MCH ends up using the LB. A bit annoying, but whatever, at least it got used and actually hit the boss.

Charibert was where the real fun started! AST got themselves killed at 25%, we have two LB bars which the MCH blows on him, leaving him at 13%. Around 7%, the MCH dies. My HP is dropping fast, so with 400 HP left, I activate Living Dead just before Altar Pyre goes off. The DRG is still up and kicking like a champ.

3%...

2%...

1%...

Charibert's dead when I have 3 seconds left on Walking Dead. I go into blackscreen for the victory cutscene, expecting to be dead when I get out... and I'm alive, and Walking Dead's gone!

DRG got my comm for just plain doing their job well.

Best part was that I had Apocalypsis Noctis playing in the background for this. Talk about dramatic.

Ok fair enough, I suppose a good story is in order... (This was a few weeks back)..



Pop into Baelsar's for Expert Roulette... first thing the tank (If I remember right DRK) says is...
Tank: First time here, please be patient with me
AST: That's alright
Me: Not a problem, more tomes for us
(Monk was silent through the run, but a surprisingly good monk)

The first thing we tell him is to go ahead and pull two spawn points per pull, and he handled it perfectly. Of Course me (SMN) and the Monk anhilate them, and the AST throws in some Gravity to boot.

Get to the first boss, we let him know about the Tethers on the adds, (Me thinking, he's new so I'll have to save Deathflare and solo mine and get to helping the monk on his).

What happens? my tether add pops, the Tank runs right for it. (I'm thinking, thanks man, nice job but not needed in this case) and I instantly Tri-Disaster, Fester (Crit), Lifesteal twice, and Boom the thing dies because of the little extra damage he put in. So I turn and Deathflare the Monk's as him and the AST were working on that one.

(I'm thinking wow... normally I have to solo mine, can handle it, but very alert tank there, and AST on the Monk's too, very alert crew here, kinda rare).

This tank who had never been there before handled the thing like a pro, never lost agro, always on target and mind in the game.
So on the last stretch before Ilberd, I say. "You can pull the rest all the way to the end, we'll take them there".

Sure enough he grabs them and runs them all the way to the end and held a good 14 mobs like a pro, where Me and the Monk anhiliated them. Saved up Enkindle (Garuda Aerial Blast) just for that. Painflares and Deathflare wiped most of them out at that point, and the rest had a sliver of health and died to DoTs from BANE.

I was thinking... I knew I could trust you (to the tank).

We get to Ilberd, again the AST runs through it with him. Letting him know about Flash, I fill him in on Restraint Collar and let him know how crucial it is to target and destroy it immediately, and we let him know about the Sword in the middle.

Sure enough he nailed every one of those too, first time there, and he nailed it. That was one of the fastest, smoothest runs. The Monk was good, the AST knew what he was doing, and that Newbie tank was incredibly alert good at his job. We all gave him the nod, for such a smooth run.

I ended up going into a Dun Scaith in-progress at the first boss at 2 minutes in. If I had to guess, the previous person left because they realized there was someone new. I was stuck outside watching a Black Mage that was obviously new to the raid since he was dying to every mechanic, so I spent the time explaining things to him. I explained the other bosses as quickly as I could before the tank would pull too, and I really mean quick - I was always forced to leave out a mechanic or two or didn't have enough time to explain exactly how certain mechanics worked, but he did pretty well all things considering. Helps that the two Astrologians were really quick with the shielding and healing.

Cue one of the smoothest runs of Dun Scaith I'd ever seen, period. No wipes anywhere. Diabolos was taken down at the final phase with only one set of earthshakers going out and no deaths because people actually understood to stack with the tank.

Imagine my surprise when we beat Diabolos and it turned out 5 people had yet to beat Dun Scaith, judging from the achievement notifications. And all of them were in my party. Although judging from the lack of 'Mapping out Dun Scaith' notifications save for the Black Mage, most of them had reached Diabolos before in a previous run, but ended up booted out by a vote abandon. The saddest part is, I'd go as far as to say this is probably the smoothest run they'd ever experience.

I ended up leaving with 5 comms.

Yeah, they're absolutely right, you shouldn't have queued for the dungeon with that attitude. "Mentors" like you are why we see so much salt about mentors on the forum.

I did a mentor roulette myself this morning. Queued for several in a row because I kept getting guildhests and I was switching jobs from one to the next. I queued as Ninja and ended up with Sohm Al Hard. I'm currently in the process of "fixing" that gearset, my stats are lopsided because it's mostly Alex on the left side and two pieces need to be replaced with upgraded shire, but I figured eh, make the best of it.

As the tank is saying he's a bit rusty, the other dps leaves before the gate even drops. We all just stand there going "um..." We waited for five minutes and chatted but no one was showing up.

I could've dropped because I really wasn't geared properly, but I didn't want to leave them before even giving the first pull a try. Finally the WHM suggests we try anyhow, and our PLD does the big pull, the WHM is dpsing his heart out, and I'm aoeing for all I'm worth. We actually got up to the boss before someone from one of my linkshells joined in progress. From there on out it was smooth sailing. The WHM didn't even get mad when I got greedy as melee dps and took some extra damage on a couple of the bosses. :)

So, I had a run where the tank was consistently bitching about me not healing her between groups. Mind you, this wasn't like a 50% or 90% health drop, more like a 5% sorta thing which can be very easily regenerated by the time you reach the next group. I didn't think much of it, but apparently the tank was very miffed by it for some reason. So, she decides to heal herself after every group, fine with me totally. Until she starts complaining that I'm dpsing all the time and not healing one bit at all. " And you're not even in CS!" she adds for extra insult. Tank's hp never dropped below 60-ish percentage so I really don't know what the whole fuss about "not healing me to 100% for next group" whining is.

The kicker? We were in Tam Tara. NORMAL.
Tank? Lvl 58.


Also had another fine gem of a dps who apparently doesn't read chat, but is a complete newbie to the instance in Admapor. 1st signs of trouble? Level 60. 2nd sign of trouble? Doing absolutely nothing but F1 and B1. Dungeon went okay until diabolos, and this is where the fun begins. Since the healer was also new (sproutling), I offered to handle the gates. Lo and behold, the other dps starts opening gates at random, completely screwing up the order. TLDR: we ate ruinous omen in full, healer gets near one shotted, healer runs out of MP, we wipe. This repeats itself for another 2 more wipes until the vote dismiss for blm goes through on third run. Can't tell if BLM was a bot or just trolling, since he never said a single word even when we were yelling at him in party chat.

queued up Sohr Kai/Hullbreaker Hard as a BRD, because I was looking for a specific glam piece.

Usually I join as a healer because i prefer the faster queues,but then I would have to rely on others passing on the glamour piece I want.

Sooo... I wait a whooping 50 mins for my dungeon to pop (well...cant expect much at 3am in central europe...lol)


I end up in Sohr Kai with a low dps warrior (well-geared) who doesnt use half of his tool kit and lost aggro to me 3 or 4 times,
a completely overgeared scholar who does absolutely zero DPS, and a dragoon who doesnt seem to do anything other than using auto-attack (400-500dps max).

I stayed till we killed the first boss. Then I just got the hell out of there.

I went in as a bard,I had all the nice tools to give! Wardens Paean for the warrior who didnt use berserk once.
Foe for the sch who didnt dps..... Ugh. Sorry but these players completely ruin all the fun.


What I've also come to realize lately is: "D" is the new "F" - but even worse.

I have a public service announcement for any Bards watching this.

Just because Stormblood is removing the bow mage aspect of our class does not mean you already have a free ticket to jump around like a madman throwing arrows everywhere without even trying to use Wanderer's Minuet even once, singing Ballad, Paeon, and (strangely enough) Warden's Paean for no apparent reason, and planting every enemy AoE on the healer as a consequence. I mean you'd think such a Bard would notice they're not even being particularly effective when the other Bard is throwing out Rain of Deaths like nothing and doing literally 3x their damage output.

At least I learned I have enough personal damage output now to wreck Sohm Al HM in 20 minutes regardless. I feel so bad for the Dark Knight and Scholar that had to suffer alongside me though.

Just had one tonight worthy of this thread:

Second boss of Sohm Al and I (WAR) am tanking. My HP going down, and down, and down. I figure my healer (WHM with over half the jobs at 60) is just playing it close for excitement...and then I die. I get rezzed pretty fast, get a heal, then get back to tanking...and the same thing happens. This time though, the party wipes. Running back to boss, I see this in chat from healer:

"sorry got comepletely side tracked by guild"

Never seen that from a healer who just let a tank die and the party wipe. New one on me.

No, I'm sorry. You were completely in the wrong here. If you didn't want to stay, you should have just left. :/ I know that a lot of things can be determined by the first pull when it comes to DF groups, but we really don't know if something distracted the healer. Especially since they kept the DPS alive. And they're right; this is why so many people look down on mentors.

Got an EX roulette (Sohm Al Hard) on MNK with your typical roulette things: healer standing around doing nothing most of the time instead of DPSing, and a BLM doing half their potential. Shortly before the second boss, I (as politely as I can because I know how touchy people are) suggest to the healer that they can swap over to cleric and nuke a bit when nobody needs heals. Then literally in the middle of the boss fight, the already-mediocre BLM stops everything to start ranting about how healer DPS is optional. The boss turns on him, telegraphs his flamethrower attack, and BLM just stands there yapping instead of moving, eating flamethrower to the face and dying. The healer (not on the same server as him, btw) raises him, and moments later... flamethrower to the face, dead again.

After the boss I point out (while running to the next pull) that I suggested it politely, but that it's still part of the job that shouldn't be ignored. So, of course, BLM decides to stop everything and rant about what an elitist jerk I am instead of contributing to killing the trash while I TP starve picking up the slack. Vote kick against him was rejected, but I decided to see it through because I didn't really have any ill will against the tank who backed me up but just didn't want to kick the guy for whatever reason.

Well. I just tanked half of Scathach. On monk. Props to the healers for somehow managing to keep my flimsy existence intact for that long.
