FFXIV 2nd expansion: Viera-like race still a possibility?

Dancer was just the result of explosive amounts of fan speculation around the lady in red. She's very likely just a fancy monk, but her costume and fluid movements at the trailer's start had people literally shouting "Dancer! Dancer confirmed!" less than a minute into it, only to see her then go into a matial arts sparring match with Derplander seconds later.


It doesn't help that the Vegas fest was really weak on actual announcements. All the hype and build up, only to have so little to chew on afterwords that the dancer speculation just became the hot topic.

We had already talked about Red Mage for so long, I guess it was less a "Woo! Comfirmed!" and more of an "About time you add it!"

I like both the tall/elegant viera and the short/cute viera. I think it'd be awesome if they could include both of these designs, just like Hyurs have sub-groups of Highlanders and Midlanders. The Viera could have one short sub-group and one tall sub-group. If we could only pick one (tall or short), I would be ok with either.

Again and sadly, they won't add Viera because of the amount of work needed to redesign armour (hands and feets).
The best we could get would be hyur with bunny ears similar to miquot'e and au'ra :(

I would be ok with a viera that has normal hands and feet. I still want viera in the game.

Didn't seem to be a new race in the logo was there? But then there aren't Au Ra in the HW logo.

I still believe SE will add viera to the game if the demand is high enough. I hope the people who want viera will speak up more, and like posts that are in favor of viera. If more people who want viera support it frequently, and there is a lot of us, the more likely it is SE will notice and take it into consideration. They have rejected the idea once, but it is not set in stone. For those of you who want viera like I do, keep up the support.

Just add Viera as a new sub-race to Miqo'te. Replace tails and ears into bunny-ears and scut and name them "Keeper of the Stars". No need to make an entire new race.

That'd be cool, so long as they separate it by clan like they did with highlanders and midlanders and not by gender like they did with the Au Ra. If there are both tall/elegant viera and short/cute viera, then we should be able to choose either one as a male and either one as a female.

I agree. Ideally, I'd like to see them as clans. A tall clan with both male and female, and a short clan with male and female.

There was a popular suggestion that male Viera be shorter, around Hyur or Man'qote height, just to parallel Au Ra.

But, I'd love for the familiar tall Viera and the cute concept to be the two tribes.

If we're gonna be facetious, Elezen with bunny ears and new animations.

Fran is 6 feet, 2 inches without her ear height added. These rabbits are tall!

Instead of expanding the amount of races, how about add more details to the currently existing races? I mean, not too much can be done with Hyurs, since they are the most human-like, but something that can be done with Hyurs is give them a wider selection of facial features, eye shapes and perhaps a larger color palette for hair and eye colors. Miqo'te can have options for ear shape/style just like their tails. What I am saying is that it would be fine if they just added more variance/options in terms of the horns on an Au ra, ears on a Miqo, and perhaps the option to increase bulkiness on Roes.

I don't think anyone at this point expects a direct port of FFTA's or FFXII's versions of Viera.

Shoot, the fact we keep asking for tails is a clear indication it's more about having another animalistic option, with a Viera-derivative being the most likely due to their popularity in the franchise as a whole. I would be thrilled to see an avian, aquatic, or canine race, too, but umderstand that Viera has the best shot of happening if we get a new race.

Honestly, I'm just hoping we got something updated with the character creator in 4.0 as the removal of PS3 also removes the archaic limitations on it.

I'm willing to compromise for normal hands and feet if the devs can't design gear around claws and rabbit feet. I also want them to have rabbit tails.

I kinda want Viera or even Genome. :'> Maybe it won't happen but I can dream.

Hate to break it to you guys but there is unlikely to be a new race until at least 5.0 so... you are looking at over 2 years away

and if it was based off XII the Elezen model would a much better base for a bunny race (I refuse to call the Viera since that is the name in XII)

Whelp..... Square enix better blow my mind with the amount of character customization in 4.0

Although i doubt they will. Probably wont add anything and take the easy way out. Besides even if they did it wouldnt matter we spend so much time with the camera zoomed all the way out cant see peoples faces anyways.
