Housing Ideas and Feature Requests

Found another board (in miners guild) that could be used as a FC message board for notifications and stuff. So players don't have to go to forums or websites to check things.

Thank you for the new seeds! Suggestion though, can we try our hand at fungiculture?

Doesn't have to be entirely accurate to life, but I think it would be kind of nice to be able to take items like Button Mushrooms and Black Truffles, and effectively use them as seeds to harvest more.

I'd also be incline to think it would be nice if letting crops spoil could result in the harvesting of pests... Botanists (and Fishers) can gather a fair few slugs and other insects... Lets say I leave a rare crop to wither, perhaps some silkworms did the deed and I obtain some silkworm cocoons in the process? IDK, might be overkill essentially giving Gardening access to almost all of Botanists Gathering Log... A nice idea though...

While I totally appreciate the lighting feature it would be nice if at some point we could get it separated into upstairs/downstairs. Sometimes you want your basement dark while your upstairs is bright and cheery! :(

Maybe with some blinking lights on it, that would be amazing with the new feature to turn off the house's lights!

I just wish that partitions were affected by the light changes as the normal walls are. They begin to not match their respective brightness when you put the lights down. While you're at it, have full wall partitions on each floor adopt the wallpaper for that floor.

Stack of Books / Pile of Books as a tabletop furnishing, not a furnishing (i.e. can only go on the floor).

I want a pile of books on my table!

(Also, thank you for all the housing goodies we got this week. New, dyeable doors? I CAN FINALLY DYE MANOR SOFA? LIGHTING LEVELS??? It's like christmas came early.)

(im not exactly sure what this sandbox toy is called in other languages, so im just gonna call it ""Spring Toy")

Im hoping mr Yoshi-P & the dev-team can give us something simmilar
"Final Fantasy Theme'd" rideable "spring" toy for our free company houses.

This toy should be an outdoor toy/object that anyone can mount, and swing back & forth on.

Standing around just isnt as cool as riding a toy like this in the garden for no obvious reason,
but atleast it's a fun thing. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/i...lies/smile.png ....and i love fun things to place in the garden.

Also, Consider making it "Portable" so i can bring this thing with me on adventures & put it on the ground anywhere in the world of Eorzea.
(Mainly for awesome / fun screenshot purpose ofcourse) - They did something like this in World of Warcraft by the way.

I assume this has been suggested before but 93 pages are a lot to read through, so..
can we please have simple, plain, white wallpapers? Everything is incredibly colorful or busy. But paintings and portraits and other wall furniture could stand out so much nicer on a simple, white wall.
It would also help to not have trouble with colors not going well together if you already have colorful furniture.

Something like the stone cieling in Limsa would do, or it could be normal wallpaper without any imposing structure on it.

Can we please remove the 50 items only restriction for the individual room?

Give us class specific exterior themed decorations like the new moogle house theme but make them class specific.

Make it to where you can only put that theme on your house if you have a max level character.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but now that we have the Estate Stewards (butler and maid), I was wondering if it would be possible that the FC crest could please be applied to their uniforms, to show that they're part of our company (even if they're essentially an employee ;))? This could also be applied to the junk/materials vendors and mender as well. :)

Also connected to that, it would be great if there was a wall furnishing that allows the FC crest to be displayed inside the house (of course the company chest shows it, but a nice big banner or shield with the FC crest on it hanging on the wall would really help foster that sense of being a part of a group.) :) And, given the fact it was hinted at in this official artwork, it makes me want it even more! ;)

Please lets us Change the direction of the house,
so it can face any of the four directions. (north, west, south east)

Our mansion is currently sideways from the entrance & barely gets any light from the sun.
The sun always rises on the backside of the house & its almost always dark at the house entrance.

Any shot of a scale model of that giant crystal in the middle of the Diadem? Not sure what size yet, but I'd love to have one.

The fountain inside the Gridania Inn would be nice to have in our houses.

I need a nature themed mail box.

My yard is more or less a flower garden. The only available mail boxes stick out like a sore thumb.

I'd like a mail box that has moss on the top, and vines growing on the pole part. Maybe some flowers that have a slight glow. If a moogle has to be on the mailbox for lore reasons, maybe add a tiny moogle, or a moogle pom.

Have you tried clipping the existing mailbox into a tree or a potted plant?

I'd really like a flower or topiary garden arch and maybe long, square hedges.

It might have been asked for already but I'd like an indoor cascade fountain as either a wall partition or just the fountain itself. I've furniture combo'd the fountain we already have indoor into one but that thing takes up a lot of housing space tbh. Something like this, or w/e design the devs can come up with.

Some more great outdoor furnishings would be nice. Some things would need made but tons of others already have models such as all the beach furniture in the Mist.

I enjoy FFXIV fishing. My first job to 50 was Fisher. My first million was made from selling fish. I didn't have to catch a titanic sawfish to unlock the first piece of post-launch fishing content because I had already caught one. I had saved it on my retainer because it was my biggest catch ever. :cool: I have caught over 40,000 fish.

As a fisherman the housing feature I desire is my own personal skywatcher. I think adding it as a fishing achievement reward would be fitting since the skywatcher was initially released as support for the weary, weather chasing fisherman.

tl;dr: Requesting skywatcher as outdoor fixture for estate as fishing achievement reward.

Cannon, that sounds like an amazing reward! The only thing is someone stealing the Skywatcher from the yard and taking it for their own, Unless it's a destroyed item if removed, then that'd be sad. I suppose it could be bought again from the savager, but then what, you can give your achievement to all your friends (not saying you would but others) and make a profit.

I truly do like that idea, since I enjoy fishing too, but maybe something that can't be taken away so easily, like a skwatcher minion. Or a exclusive skywatcher-watch!

Not sure If suggested yet, but as i would love to see something to be able to change the music playing inside the house.
Like some kind of magical music player to change the track playing inside the house, and getting tracks to play would be special crafted items that have a chance to record music upon completion of instance.

Example if such item existed: I want track from t12 to play when i am inside private/fc house. To get recording for device, i would require crafted item/accessory that can be used to capture music. i go t12 an have a chance the music playing inside the instance to be recorded to the item/accessory upon successful completion of the duty. Now i can use that item to add the track to the player, and now i can always listen to t12 track within personal/fc house.

Changing the music would be a godsend. I wanna change the mood along with the lights!

I'd love an option to close/open window shutters so we can choose if we want outside light to come in or not.

Minions as housing items?
How great would it be to come home to your Fat Cat, napping on the table?

Ideas I support that have already been suggested (as of this last page):
-Separate light settings per floor
-A resident minion (for private chambers, private estates and company estates all, size of house determines limit of minions)
-Partitions taking on the appearence of the current wallpaper (tired of masonwork walls outer walls but wooden inner walls (problem with this is the Oriental/Mahogany Partition Doors)
-Manor vanity (would be awesome with/without a working mirror effect)
-Indoor fountain (new idea: Primal combination furniture- requires 2+ primal items to craft, i.e. Levi's barb & Bismarck's bayleen for the indoor fountain)
-Banner/shield to display the company's crest indoors
-Control of building's position on the plot (would love to turn the house so the back was towards the wall (Mist 28) & the front door looking to the sunset)

New ideas (or ideas that may have been previously mentioned on pages I skipped reading through):
-Manor canopy bed (seriously, I would toss out both my double feather bed & riviera canopy bed for this; could also require a new item like Manor fabric to make, available only from endgame retainer ventures)
-The ability to adjust the appearence (poses/clothes and ability to choose minor customization options like in character creation) for the original housing NPCs (not fair that I have to deal with employing Raen refugees in my cottage (supplier/mender/maid) rather than some of my fellow Xaela)
-An expansion in the number of "kitchen" furnishings; loving the manor oven/counter, now I just need a "manor pantry" or "manor icebox" to store food in to complete the ensemble
-Stuffed Primals (would have a bed set aside just for a stuffed version of my favorite primals, requiring their HM drop & both Thav silk+leather)
-The ability to stack the shipping crates/wine barrels
-A change in how the support beams were established in the 2nd floor of mansions (hard time keeping track of the middle (width-wise) of the room when the supports aren't centered and I'm not using a grid-patterned floor)
-A moogle-inspired targeting dummy ("where do i find the moogle masterpiece?!?@1" x4000000000 back in the first week of HW...)
-Landscape paintings the same size as the political leaders' paintings (for that matter, why wasn't "Enquire Within" done at the same size as well?"
-Wall-mounted weapons rack (could actually go so far as to make it so that, instead of a universal rack that can hold any weapon, you have to acquire the 2.x relic bits from WP to make the correct rack)

That is already coming, Yoshi and Soken have stated it's actually going to be a furnishing item originally from FFXI called an 'orchestrion' and it probably coming sometime after 3.2 or thereabouts. I posted the most recent info on the subject that I'm aware of in another thread which covers this in more detail. Either way, it's already planned. :)

On that topic, when the Orchestrion is added, please, please SE, please allow us to select tunes from the entire version 1.0 OST including the currently 'missing' tunes like Navigator's Glory and Piece of Mind, as they're some of my favourite FFXIV tracks and I miss hearing them in the game. :(
