I like how the cg shows a realistic portrayal while the game does not.

Look at the Shadows cast by the light notice how smooth they look that's cell shading at work, now look at area's that haven't been cast by the light of the WS, thats not smooth. Dynamic lights are simply too resourceful so they used shading techniques.
Nah it was someone much earlier in the thread (not sure why I read through all of it), they said something like it had to of been entirely CG'd. Granted they could have meant pre-rendered, but even then you can see slight frame rate wobbles in that trailer that are a clear indicator of real time graphics.
The trailer definitely had some major frame rate issues. I'm curious who would give the okay on this? Do I think the final game will look like that, no. But i'm really curious who they have directing the Advertisement side of things.
I would assume it is because everyone was clamouring for in game footage to "believe" in XIV 2.0 and because they have to have something to show at these conventions.
I don't know. I think in SE's defense, our expectations of the alpha stuff is much higher than normal due to XIV's circumstances.
I will say this though: I realize not everyone will agree, but I think the environment in that video and others is absolutely stunning and if the character models look anything like that after all the industry tricks and technology is applied then we're all going to be very happy with the end results.
Yes at the end of the day we do all have to realize Alpha's tend to look like shit. There is that video of how the game looked going from alpha to beta way back when, and it was a huge difference. Alpha tests are generally to see how the game runs under server stress. Beta's are intended more for running the game on full steam and seeing what breaks.
As long as they confirm those character models are either Low PC or PS3 settings then I'm good.
I don't think you will see much of a difference, if you remember yoshi saying the graphics will be like High pc graphics when zoomed in close of you are playing on a lesser system/ps3. You can also look at the screenshots you can see they are the same. Just none of them are zoomed in close enough for you to see.
