I think a pride event would be pretty fun but I don't think it's neccessary. I would prefer if they showed support by things like not paywalling changing your character's appearance.

As much as I am an ally of LGBTQ, having an in-game event for it would further promote the idea that the most important aspect of someone in the LGBTQ community IS that they are LGBTQ. It may be part of who they are but not necessarily the sole defining characteristic of who they are.

Who is to say that Alphinaud isn't homosexual? Would it matter anyway? Does it actually change who he is?

Going back to earlier times, it reminds me of when a woman was commonly introduced as "This is Soandso's wife" - as if she is property (OfJames, OfWilliam, etc?) Is that really her most defining characteristic? That this woman married some man?
