You guys do know you can beat every content without gear... soo whats the big deal about gear swapping?

Maybe they could give people the ability to switch between different weapons, like with a function imbedded in the UI, or perhaps even rearrange each class to have an on and off hand weapon which could be swapped mid combat. (For example, THM/BLM could have a two-handed staff and single-handed cudgel, or something, and BRD could have Bow and a musical instrument).
Swapping out entire wardrobes during combat is somewhat ridiculous though. -

It's just that you have to strip naked and put on new set of clothe to cast a spell is stupid and pointless.
Also it renders action bar pretty useless since you do everything through macro anyway.
In addition it kills specialization and variety (which there is not much anyway). -

Gear swapping actually would help the 14 economy a great deal because it causes almost every piece of equipment to suddenly have some sort of use. However gearswapping as it was done in 11 should never come back. If we are going to have it, it needs to be more seamless, like having multiple mannequins which you could macro between with a single command, instead of lines for every different piece you change or having to resort to third party programs.
Maybe when addons hit, it will be allowed. But in all honesty, having people disappear mid-combat because of the shit way this game loads models ruins so much about it... and hell, it completely stiffs you out of those pretty animations so many 11 fans seem to rather see the game fail than lose. -
