Petition Against Ifrit Weapon Designs

I really don't think the weapons are that WoW-ish at all...

They may be different from everything else currently in the game, but I think everything currently in the game is bland and boring anyway, so -shrug-. Roll on the occasional glowwy weapons.

They're not even that extreme, the glow isn't that bright and it is only really the bow that starts to look a bit over-the-top. The sword looks amazing though and perfect for a Final Fantasy game. While it may not fit in with XIV, I think it would be nice to push the aesthetic towards a more colourful/fantasy direction anyway...

This isn't Final Fantasy X with the Brotherhood or Lulu's dolls, but it could be a little more like that imo.

I think WoW aesthetics would suck but I don't see this game ever really getting to that point. Do you? Do you really?

I wonder how many people would complain if SE simply turned the glowwy effect off on those weapons...

EDIT: (I am still a little undecided on these weapons but that's what I think right now. I admit I wouldn't want to see too many big glowwy weapons like this around... But I don't think these are too extreme.)

Until 1.17 most of my posts were 100% positive. I always supported the dev team (and still support...but for serious feedback i prefer to use the suggestion & feedback contact option to avoid meaningless posts), but when they started messing with my gameplay i also started getting annoyed with it...when they decided picking the FFXI path i became annoyed with it...so in the end all you can see now is a hollow vessel of what once was a blind fanboy of SE (i always was...i never cared about researching about a SE game before buying it because i was sure i'd love it) but that now is only filled with a evergrowing grudge.

If you think i like bashing them, you better think twice. I'd be pooping rainbows for them if i felt the game was worth it. Even FFXI, which i always hated the concepts which itwas built on, rarely had a word of mine against it...because, while i hated FFXI, it had some prime quality regarding what it was meant to be (hardcore, party-based MMO). And this is my main issue regarding FFXIV...the game is not following the concepts it was meant to be built on.

Lack of respect? Of course, how can I respect someone who hates a game yet continues to express to others how much they hate it instead of going and doing something they like, maybe its just pity. I suspect that noone needs to hear what you have to say past the first one or two comments displaying your general dislike for anything of quality. If it were up to me I'd remove your right to actually have an opinion, since you so eagerly point out apparant flaws before considering every aspect of what you argue against. It's blatantly obvious that you're either really stupid or just plain being negative for the sake of annoying people.

EDIT: I may aswell make some sort of comment on the thread since this one was pretty much like whipping a dead horse.

The ifrit weapons so far have been pretty popular with about ~90% of people I talk to, it's just like Takinagi said in the ridiculously named other thread that the people who dislike them tend to voice their opinion like needy children pleading to the devs "oh please oh please listen to me I'm important because I made my own thread". I see absolutely nothing wrong with them, although I do acknowledge their design to be extreme and not conforming to the current equipment within the game, I believe that it suits the circumstances in which it's implemented.

The entire game is heading in the right direction for me, personally I can't wait for the game to hit PS3 and the job system to be implemented. The game is not becoming a hardcore party-based MMO, that is merely one of the options they are giving us (if you'd consider the ever-changing leve system, which is becoming far more accomodating in 1.19).

Excuse me? This is a feedback forum...it IS meant to receive opinions, no matter if good or bad.

I'm sorry, I just worry that the devs might see some of the premature whinging and obtuse opinions these petition threads are littered with and built upon and wrongly decide to change the planned patch implementations.

So what if they do? This IS why they ask for feedback. And it's not up to you to decide if these are "premature whinging and obtuse opinions" or, from my viewpoint, valid feedback.

It's just like Coeurl Step. It was a great name IMO...people complained, they changed to stealth...that's it. That's why they ask feedback...they want to know if something is looking awkward...and hopefully it will reflect ingame.

Absolutely right, and if people take the time to read those talking about the weapons "poor" designs, they will see that not everyone in that "group" shares the same opinion either. Some are saying they look fine but are too bulky, others are saying they are downright ugly or even flashy in some cases. So to those grouping all "negative" opinions as just that, negative, we all want this game to be a success, and varying opinions are the best thing we can have on these type of topics.

The problem I see here is that the only people voicing their opinions are the small percentage (including you) who disagree with how the game is planned to change. This 'feedback' forum you speak of is nothing more than a very small percentage of the game's population come to bitch about things that almost all others are happy with. Someone has to step in here and decide enough is enough, you're one of the main perpetrators. Oh if it were up to me I'd have everyone who made a duplicate thread petitioning these weapons perma-banned.

What I don't want to see is that small population overcompensating in this so called 'feedback' convincing the devs to change things that the NOT whinging, NOT bitching, NOT lacking in understanding community are looking forward to.

The thing that I hate most about this game is the constant complaining and unsatisfied small percentage of people who populate these forums, kind of ironic that those people are the ones driving some the content, I guess it's my own fault for not being more involved until now. I just hope the Japanese have more sense on their forums.

Ok, ok...for someone complaining about negative posts and whinning your last one was nearly ironic. If more people posted their opinion about the game and less about other users maybe things here could become more enjoyable to both sides.

It's nice to know I'm dealing with intelligent people on these forums, glad to see that you knowingly conform to everything I've previously stated about the type of people populating them.

I apologize straight off for rehashing a sentiment that has already been mentioned a few times here; but I will attempt to phrase it in a slightly different way. I would absolutely love these weapons if they did not look, to a weapon, like they would cause anyone but a professional weight lifter to fall flat on their face trying to use them (pardon the hyperbole).

Before someone posts yet another picture of Cloud, there is something to be said for internal consistency. Cloud was a first-generation 3D model made with less than 500 polys and styled after a character straight out of an anime; a sword as big as he was made complete sense in the context of the game. On the other hand, here we have a game where you can make Poleyns for boots modeled after authentic medieval greaves. I have a friend in the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism [A group somewhere between Renaissance fairs, larp (though not a comparison they appreciate), and honest to god modern-day knights]) who, when shown a screenshot of FFXIV said "Oh my god that's awesome, that's a perfect period English lancer" (actually he used several historical terms I cannot recall at the moment, it's not my strong suite).

The point is, the game has a pre-established style. Shifting that style is going to be extremely jarring to anyone who cares about such things, and that is an important consideration. Jarred players may very well translate into leaving players, which is something SE very much should be made aware of.
