We should have never started out with it in the first place, its clearly a halfassed throw in to appease people while they work on chocobos and airships.

Besides your point not making any sense to me, MMOs in general having been taking this route of adding X months of content when in reality its X months of grinding before you can touch content Y. This approach has become standard however, I see this approach as flawed. Content is great to have but it must not be at the cost of tedious grinding and timesinks for that only make the time spent with the less enjoyable while notably longer. Games in general should be more about the joy of playing not the pain of playing.
With that said, I think MMOs have to take the route of having great content that is fun or a blast to replay with others. If FPS can have gamers playing the same maps for years and still having fun, then MMOs with all of its content should be able to achieve the same.
By the way, this isn't about exploration of current game, it sux now, nothing new to explore or any content, its about the future when things get implemented and players get too used to anima, they would be strongly against removing them or adjusting them in anyway and killing an aspect of the game, "new area added, is there a atheryte there?, i dont wanna walk through there, too much high lvl monsters, i need a aethryte." thats just killing the dangerous/adventures aspects of gaming and corner the Dev to make things even easier "All the monsters will not aggro anymore".
its not about making people suffer, it would not only ruin my gameplay, it would kill the entire gameplay because there would be no point in chocobo or airship, "why do i need to take a Chocobo/airship when i can use anima like nothing?" people are walking not because they want to walk, its because teleport is generally used for things such long distance travel.
SE should just remove aethryte from some area and keep the main ones or balanced out so they are distributed only in players gathering places and different continents, for example, other than cities, 2 in Thanalan(east and west), 2 in Black Shroud etc..

Haha yup, what kinda of new player would have 500k to buy a pass, and questing the items seemed fun, i believe thats how i met few of my friends i played with for yrs.
More people than you know, obviously. Not everyone who plays the game is on these boards.
The main point is you think teleporting everywhere is fun. OK, that's fine but how long will that last? You didn't work for that ability, you have no sense of achievement for such an insane power! And if you already have such crazyinsaneawesome powers right off the bat, then maybe you're too awesome to bother doing anything else, why bother? You've got everything you asked for handed to you from the start!
While you can argue that it's convenient, my argument back to you is(and I can safely say I'm speaking for the majority here) Why bother playing a game where you don't need to do anything? Where's your sense of adventure? Where's your sense of achievement? You didn't put any effort in at all and thats what MMORPGs are mostly about, making you feel that you've achieved something of the impossible around every corner, making you work up to being the Hero you want to be.
Hell why not start at rank 50 on 1 job? Then when the rank cap goes up, all of the jobs you have at rank 50 jump automatically to the new cap! I'll tell you why, because it makes the game pointless. You aren't doing anything.
Now who's being extreme? No one here is asking for them to abolish walking. We're not in here going "hurrhurr, lets have infinite anima that never ever runs out and we can instantly port everywhere!" With the current system, tons of people still run on foot all over the effing place. All we want is them to NOT change something.
It seems everyone FOR changing anima seems to have forgotten that its a limited resource that runs out very effing quickly for anyone who plays on a regular basis... They seem to think that anima as it exists now will have people never ever walking anywhere on foot as soon as there's some place to walk to... Yet they completely miss the fact that people ALREADY run around on foot a lot. Anima, as it is now, only eliminates walking for extremely casual players.
My point was i see the need to craft and i also see the need for a little bit of traveling sometimes instead of being handed 100 anima points to teleport across the map whenever i want. You and Crica are good at taking someones suggestions and making them into something different.
